New Article: Spinning Vs. Baitcasting
I use to only use spinning reels, but two years I bought my first caster combo. It wasn't easy to make the change. But this year my caster has been my #1 go to setup on the water.

Latest Tackle Purchase Thread (Bait Monkey Victim Support Group)
Bait Monkey came on Strong at Cabels. I mean It would be a waste of time to trave 1/2 hr just to look, plus Muskie opener is Saturday. My New Whopper Plopper 190, SK spinner, Lipless, and a jointed bait I got passed down from my uncle when he passed. But I love looking at the size difference between the 90 and the 190. I do have an order of 8 more SK red eyes and a 130 version of the plopper from TW due Thur.

Baitcaster Line
Just to add. Braid will slip on the reel when wet. So without a backing on it the braid will just spin against the spool.

Sales And Deals Forum?
My OP says and is examples of a current sponsor. The other was just throwing it or there. No more than anyone else before me did.

Sales And Deals Forum?
Post sales deals last x - x.than it is taken down. If they email a mod to post it they control it going up. That and it would always be the top post.

Sales And Deals Forum?
There are hundreds of site such as these called coupon sites and they make money by moving people to another site to purchase. They in turn get money for a referral. Same concept as immortalized material on YouTube. But I guess I could jump on that band wagon.

Minnesota Lakes Fishing Report.
X2 on pool 2. You could launch in Fridley area. It is far enough south of the Dam in Coon Rapids, and gives you a large distance until the MPLS dam. I have looking to launch there this year and test out the waters so to speak of river fishing in my boat.

Minnesota Lakes Fishing Report.
Hey nothing says on this thread you have to give away your spot. Just share what's hot on the water. Many of you know it's sometime just as much what you throw as where you through. Two years ago me and my brother in law where pulling in 5+ bass like crazy when people next to us could catch one if their life depended on it. So if you hit a lake let us know if it was a bust or not. I have a couple lakes coming up next weekend. Than in June I am going up north to outing Minnesota and will give a report for up there.

Minnesota Lakes Fishing Report.
Otter lake (white bear) Tuesday 19th Wind 5 - 10 Temp 40° Almost too cold. Matter of fact I am sick now because of yesterday's trip, but fishing is worth it. Many smaller northerns in the 5 - 8ft range with the monsters still hiding 20 feet down. Spoons, lipless and spinners where hot. Nothing monster to speak of, but did catch a lot. Colors where all over whites, gold and tiger colors caught them. So no patterns.

Tournament In Small Boat
First crack of a Yamaha 250hp would swamp you. But I was truthful. It's not the boat. I good angler doesn't have to have GPS, power poles, even a fish finder. A rod and tackle will catch you fish. But you want to be competitive. I know a friend here in mn that does smaller tournaments with a 14ft kind with a 40hp. So you don't need 60k, but do upgrade or co.

Best Outdoor State
You want year round outdoor wilderness Minnesota has it. In the winter there is ice fishing plus any other outdoor sport you want. Spring and summer go up north to the BWCA and get you share of wilderness. While we lack 10lb bass we make up in monster 52in Muskie 40in northerns, and some of the best bass lakes around. There is no shortage of lake either. With well over 100,000 (I think the number is actually closer to 130,000) you could try a new lake ever day. And for the hunters we have good game life, deer, bear, Turkey and they are all good size. Yeah our state bird is a mosquito, and they seem to wear parkas in the winter. Minnesota has a lot.

Hook Size And Bonnets/covers
Okay, so one thing I am still working on is hook sizes. I am getting better on 5/0 vs 4/0 but when it comes to treble hooks I'm still learning. So the question I am looking at is what size is on SK red eyes, DT's. And if I'm looking for covers what size do I want to look for?

Abu Garcia Black Max Tension Spool Problem
Worse case Abu will let you send it in, but a good local bait shop might give it a once over for free if you ask. Gl

Abu Garcia Black Max Tension Spool Problem
Do you store your reel with the breaks on and tension tightened? It might be a problem of the disc sticking to each other. Other problems might be bearings are going, or even dirt in the spool. Clean it out. If you do take it apart... and I can not stress this enough TAKE PICTURES. I didn't and ended up taking apart another Abu Garcia just to match the disc. Grease and oil, damp rag.

Modifying Lures
My new trend is taking my lip less red eyes and removing the back hook. I replace it with a small silver willow. Just nailed my personal best on opener with this mod. It's simple and easy. Plus I think it gives it that extra flash.

Minnesota Lakes Fishing Report.
Clear Lake (In Forest Lake) Date: Saturday 5/9 Morning to mid afternoon Temp 40 - 60 So it was clear with a slight breeze from the north ish. Topwater baits were hot. Bass looked to have move off the beds in the shallow and where mainily in the 6+ foot range. Walleye on cClear Lake where around 12+ ft range and the bite was hot. Many anglers reporting good cathces on the north side of the lake with nothing but a jig and tube. Northern bit was also good. I personaly used a SK Red Eye Shad in Pearl moded with the back hook removed and a willow added. and pulled in multipul northern.

Minnesota Lakes Fishing Report.
Okay so I did a search and I couldn't find a post on this, but with the season taking off here in Minnesota I thought I would start this post. So if you hit the lakes please try to give a detailed report of what is going on. I don't blame anyone for not wanting to give away their lucky spot, but lets help the local anglers out.

Mn 2015 Fishing Opener On Clear Lake
Right off 23 & 35 I think it it's in Forest lake. It started off slow, and than I remembered I marked a bunch of potential sites to check. The second spot paid off big.

So I Cant Get Bit With A Spinnerbait/chatterbait
It can come down to something as simple as pressure, and what the fish want/don't want. I have gone many times to my local pond and have thrown my lucky spinner only to be shut out, and the same with chatter. Don't give up on such a great bait. I know you said you have tried many things. But alter the appearance, different combo of colors, blades, trailers, no trailers. All of these items with infinite choices of options sometimes feels like you are stuck in a corner. Keep it up and stay positive.

Mn 2015 Fishing Opener On Clear Lake
So Yesterday was the offical MN walleye, and northern opener (Bass right now is C&R only), and it was one of the best openers I have had yet. So I though I would post a couple pics of the better catches. But how was everone on elses opener? Anyone from the area have a good opener? Just an FYI to the locals Clear Lake was going nuts for not only northern, but also bass and walleye!
