  1. I got ripped for fishing close to a release ramp once. But after the weigh in I had 18 pounds and second had 9... If it isnt against the rules, its fair game. I won the tournament and never thought twice about it!
  2. I like the every fish counts thing. Its about catching fish... I say weigh them all, even 8 inchers. The length limit is only if you keep them in your boat... or take to eat. The states put length limits for harvesting not tournaments anyway. I would love to fish these with my bass club. We dont have good cell service at any of our lakes tho.
  3. Did you filet and put in hot grease? It will be fine. No worrys
  4. Crawdads dont turn blue and black in muddy water. I like to dip the pinchers or tails to add some flash but green pumpkin works in any water color...imo
  5. Smaller more dense. Its a bullet. We have made an agreement if we get hung, we dont pull to break or dislodge. We troll over and get it out by hand. If you seen what it did to my Ranger boat you would be amazed. Looks like it was shot with a .22 rifle. If that would have been an eye, you would not have that eye anymore. You would be a Pirate arggg.
  6. I have a hole in my gelcoat. Multiple spots on my motor too.
  7. When someone asks where did you catch them, say most of them were hooked in the top lip!
  8. Frog tournys are cool. I read where guys would peg 1 1/2 weights on them and punch mats. Crazy. They can only modify so much tho. The only other I know of is the Rat L Trap ones.
  9. Megabass 110, New Shadow Rap and I always have a boat load of Lucky Strikes. Learned with the Lucky Strikes and refined my approach with a Megabass. Just a way better finish and better hooks out of the package. Jerkbaits are a BIG bass bait!
  10. Mine was a Megabass FX 110 in sexy shad. My 6 year old son just got his on a sexy shad 1/4oz spinnerbait.
  11. I have cool hubs (oil) and I change out the oil every year. I have been in them over the years tho. Knock on wood, I haven't had any major issues yet. My trailer is a 2002. I keep thinking about going to a grease hub, but I never pull the trigger.
  12. 2014 had lipless crankbaits, bladed jigs, flap slaps, and deeper crankbait won it. This year an underspin won it. Skeet was throwing a paddletail swimbait, Hite was drop shotting. Omori was fishing 25-40 feet.. A jig came to play but didnt win. When I say jerkbait and jig, that in my opinion will be about it on Grand. Just too soon in my opinion.
  13. Uh exactly how the first went for Ashley in 2008, too much pressure. Same story line like I said. Boring and not exciting at all. Let me guess, jerk baits and a jig. Nothing changes in my opinion. I thought it was a great Classic there too, just not wanting to see the same thing at the same place so fast.
  14. Just went there... Not very exciting news. Jason Christie will be the next casey Ashley. Same story lines and all. Like I said not very exciting news.
  15. Drove thru Snow-pokalips 2015 to get to a wintery mess on Guntersville. Shoveled 10 inches of snow off the ramp and had a great day. Multiple 4-5 pounders. The next couple days were bluebird and frigid. Tougher bite but my partner did bring the biggest bass I have ever seen to the boat. Not in the boat tho. She took him all the way around the boat and wehn he finally got her to the net she rolled over like a dog and rattlebait come out. She sit there for a split second about 10 inches in the water. I tried to net her but she swam away. GIANT. Her eyes were bugged out and looked like golf balls. Other than fighting the deep snow and Alabama not having salt trucks, the trip was a success. Good luck and go as soon as you can to get those biggins.
  16. End of March is not winter down south lol. You need to go now. I am driving down to Guntersville tonight. I have 12 buddies there now and they have sent pics of 4 pounders already. Buddy got a 12lbr in feb 2013. We get numerous 5-8 pounders in Feb.
  17. Still had 20+ pound bags. I liked the tourny and the coverage online. I also like the Feb Classic. My club does an Oct classic and I have tried for years to change it. In Oct all the bass around here are at the release ramps. Boring. Just a round robin around the release area. Looks like a merry go round of boats.
  18. wow paulinik struggled. Christie had one good day and Ike fell off Sunday. Congrats to the home lake fella. He was consistant and then put out a 20lb sack on Sunday. Well deserved.
  19. I think a cold water area guy like Ike or Christie will be on top.
  20. in the last week... Two of the $49.99 Pro Qualifier reels for back ups, several LC 2.5 on clearence for $9, 18" black wheels for the bass boat, Bass Mafia sweatshirt Beanie LS shirt, a new Skeet Pro Carbon rod, and several used baits from the BR Flea Market. Ugh I need to go fishing. Oh line for days, floro, mono and braid.
  21. Extend the deck and fish the He!! out of it. Great find!
  22. No matter how you do it, put in a pull string for next time! I did and now its very simple. Good luck.
  23. I like my Wright and McGill Rick Clunn glass rods for bladed jigs. It allows the fish to really eat the bait. 15 pound flouro cause the rod has enough "stretch". Good luck.
