  1. I like most of damiki products. The air frog is pretty good though I wish they'd make a 3" one for New Jersey lol
  2. Capt g has been doing that in Japan since the 90s... It works. Very well
  3. find the local forage fish... Not just bluegills but look for roaches, golden shiner, chubs. Fat heads.... There is much more than bluegills for them to feed on. Use e jerkbaits to locate fish... match the color and size to the local bait fish. Once you find the fish throw a swim jig that imitates a bluegill or other bigger forage species to trigger a bigger bite. If that doesn't work you can work a jig around the banks. And can always get one or 2 hitting the wood.
  4. Big Bass Zone - Bill Siementel and Mike Jones This was a great book, but i found many chapters painful to read. it destroys many of the myths on big bass fishing, It Coaches you in the right mindset for targeting that trophy fish/ Personal Best and understanding why these fish behave differantly than your normal sized bass. Sowbelly - This book was an awesome read, it has mentions from some of the top OG's in bass fishing including Capt. G or Greg Vella, Mike Long, Mickey Ellis etc. A great history lesson of world record bass fishing. many of it taking place in my homeland and backyard on lakes i fished regularly, so it was a really fun read.
  5. i throw the basic 4 colors. including swimjigs... Buy some Spike-It markers and color your skirt/trailer as you see fit. save yourself the $
  6. Bps xps florocarbon is made for bps by Seagar. It's not bad ... I still prefer sunline.
  7. What a great thread. I had a question about how transparent or clear cranks work in clear water circumstances. I have noticed the majority of manufactures don't have to many color options that have a translucent pattern to them. anyone have any insight with these? One thing not touched up on is Gear ratios. When would a 5:1 vs 6:1 is a 5:1 more appropriate for squarebills as the baits wider action and slower retrieve? were as a tighter action like a rapala DT might require a faster 6:1 ratio? I know everything in this game is subjective and based on feel. But what would you consider a standard order of practice with crankbaits and gear rations
  8. bill dance fishes out of private ponds for half his videos... I wouldnt focus to much on what hes doing
  9. megabass pop max, evergreen One's bug, and the strike king one. Thats my order.
  10. my store has a bunch, what colors would you like. I can send a few your way... all id ask is if you cover shipping. I like stuff that gets discontinued especially my favorite baits. I can stock up and it gives me an edge over other people if the conditions were right. I work for BPS and i can tell you they discontinue ALOT of there own brand stuff that seems to be good sellers, Like the Tourney Special rods It is pretty annoying for alot of people. But this market is driven entirely on new and "improved" product on a yearly basis. Even BPS has to keep up with the retail trend.
  11. Just throw a jackall Mickey 6.4 .... If you like it. Then look into more expensive baits
  12. *** frogs are cool they get bit.... But first fish and it tore in 2 places. I was very disapointed
  13. eBay. Plenty in good colors
  14. I love them. They work well. I got one in my mtb as well. It was bigger than I wanted it to be. But I still caught 2 on it today. It walks perfectly. I like most of sebile's baits. And the majority of the "action first" series. Were they cut the cost is in the hooks. They hooks will outright break if you snag hard cover...rather than bend out. Otherwise
  15. 10" power worm and zoom on monster are king. The power bait with that stinky **** on it makes a huge difference on a big soft plastic.
  16. If you understand what a carp is... You'll understand the impact on the fishery itself.... A carp is a fish that grows to massive sizes in relatively short time... They have an incredibly high motabulism, they feed on anything and everything. Carp are never "not feeding". It's a giant pucker mouth vacuum cleaner with fins and goofy eyes. Like a lot of guys here, carp being around has made fishing interesting... I have done well in areas were big carp are spawning, or were they are hanging out. But the effect they have on the health of a small lake or pond can be devastating. That being said. Don't kill every carp you see... Carp Babies are great bass food. Treat the fish with respect and let the biologist and experts handle the management.
  17. The vibration to 90% of the lipless cranks is relatively the same. the determining factor for lipless cranks is in the rattle and color. Lipless cranks ripping through the tops of grass in summer is a killer way to catch fish. Also try a bait will a chrome or gold finish and loud rattles for when the water is muddy after summer rain. You'll be surprised how strong a bait they are in summer. you can fish them just a bit faster than a squarebill or chatterbait, and cover a ton of water. varrying your retrieve adding pauses, and rips into the bait will pull 90% of your strikes.
  18. x2 Ika's aren't the best plastic option for thick grass. even with a screw lock/beast hook option which is how i fish them. The baits still tear.
  19. it could be the chatterbait itself, i shy away from flashy shinney blades. unless its gold.
  20. The law allows you to release them?
  21. ironically, i catch alot of trout as bycatch on the RC STX mini. It might be bigger than what your looking for, but they do work.
  22. Rapala Fat rap 5. Youll find plenty at flea markets and they work great and deflect of cover well, ebay has them too.
  23. manns pogo shad
  24. the small floating versions have a cheap lip on them and yes they do break. just have to be careful with them.
  25. cordell spots, and mans pogo shad. i do own a bunch of aruku shads, but they havent done anything for me since november... same with the red eye shad. id like to fish a few of a XR25s and a one-knocker and see how they do
