  1. So putting them in the bottom half of my tacklebox isn't smart?
  2. Yeah, I'm trying to spend around that. I'm keeping the reel I found at my grandpas[haha], no clue if it's still any good. If I throw a frog it'll be a spro, zoom or horny toad and the Dahlberg Diving Frog. I have a Medium Fast rod so I'm looking for a Medium Heavy one for the frogging.
  3. I currently have a Daiwa MA15LG baitcasting reel and am looking to buy my first casting rod. I'm considering the Duckett Ghost because it's cheaper and apparently is worth the money. Would it be smart to go with a very cheap rod so I can learn baitcasting better and then upgrade in time or what? I'm looking for a medium heavy rod for frogging and what not.
  4. I just found a Daiwa MA15LG Baitcasting reel in my grandpas garage along with a Daiwa UL7 Spinning Reel -- does anybody have these or know anything about them? The baitcasting reel is a left handed one.
  5. Appreciated y'all, I know what I'm doing and a decent amount I'm just looking for some extra advice especially cause I've been shut out the last two days. I'm used to river fishing, not lake fishing
  6. I don't need detailed stuff, just something quick to a few of 'em.
  7. First & foremost, I've only had luck with senko's so far. If I catch a fish, it's on a senko, light green pumpkin w/ small red flake to be exact. I've caught ONE with a white fluke, one with a Rage Tail Structure Bug and two with a bass pro tournament series crankbait. I just need some "overhaul advice" on some things. 1. What is YOUR determination on using a hardbait vs a plastic? [crankbait, etc vs. worm/rage products] 2. I currently have PB&J, Blue Craw & Summer Craw Structure Bugs and I use the Siebert Outdoors Twistlock Weighted Hooks. What is the determination on color out of those three and when to throw? 3. I have one pack of rage craws in summer craw and I know I use them with rocky bottoms, correct? 4. As far as zoom products go, I have two bags of flukes[white pearl & baby bass], two bags of horny toads[white & green pumpkin w/ pearl], a pack of finesse watermelon red worms and the 6" watermelon gold glimmer trick worm. I know how to work the flukes and have a good idea of where and same with the toads[although I can't get a bite with them to save my life]. Do I dropshot the worms or should I learn how to t-rig? I don't own any bullet weights or anything so I have no clue. 5. Rage Toad vs. Horny Toad = Rage goes more with choppy and windy conditions as horny toads are more for calm? 6. I own a 1/8 Micro-Chatterbait with chartreuse & white skirt and I put a chartreuse twister tail as a trailer on it. Where is the best place to run that and is that more of a clear water bait? 7. I think you throw dark crankbaits when it's muddy and more natural colors and yellow's when it's clear? I'm hoping I get a few answers here and just jog my mind with the answers here. Any & all answers are highly appreciated!
  8. haha thanks Master, I appreciate that. I'm hoping that doesn't stand true for rage toads or zoom horny toads?!
  9. I was able to make it walk when I first bought it, and idk--other baits walk really well with what I use
  10. anybody else recommend a spro shad?
  11. 6'6" Sojourn Medium Fast with 10# mono
  12. What color do you recommend?
  13. I have yet to catch a fish on either of mine, one is bigger than the other. I used to be able to walk the dog, easily -- but now, all it does is "pop" basically? The head lifts up and then just smacks down in a straight line-no matter what I do. What could the problem be and any suggestions on what to do or what to buy?
  14. The more I learn about rod's & reels and good setups, I'm just curious as to how good this rod is overall. I have a Quantum Light Pro QLPS60M, 6'0" Medium HL0 with a Quantum SS3 reel; what would be best to throw with this? I'm assuming weightless plastics?
  15. Yeah, that's a great idea.
  16. That's what i'm saying, I have these flappy daddy's so maybe I could rig them up and make something happen with 'em. Throw 'em on a shaky head probably
  17. If i'm fishing in a creek, some spots as shallow as 6 inches and depths up to your chest, loaded with rock and occasional tree branches AND is deepest in the current on the other side--how would you fish that? I've been catching them on Senko's in a very rocky and shallow area but other times, they'll hammer it and spit it right back out when I set the hook so i'm trying to clean up and catch those lucky ones who don't get ripped. By the way, whoever said the skip gap hook was good deserves an award 'cause I think they're great hooks. As the shallow rocks lessen, it opens up a little more and fish occasionally surface and splash around. I threw a buzzbait today, a zoom frog and a Yo-Zuri pencil but got no strike. I'm having a hell of a time on any topwater, haven't had a bite yet this year.
  18. So ya'll just rig it up, throw it out and hop and wiggle it in rocky conditions? i'm trying my hardest to get bites with that now
  19. I'm looking at...say, 200 and under. he doesn't need AMAZING stuff, just good stuff. He fishes rivers a lot...it's funny, if he could fish one lure every where it'd be a flatfish....he loves that thing
  20. That looks sweet! Also, I know Seibert has quality stuff--I get my jigs there. I love it.
  21. thank ya! they're a bit pricey but they look good!
  22. I'm trying to get some new things for my dad as a "thank you" gift for all the things he's bought me fishing related over the year. He really doesn't have anything 'new' other than a few storm swimbaits. He's a hell of a fisherman and would rather target the big one as opposed to catching many small ones. He fishes for walleye, bass and musky. He currently has two rods, both 6'0 and uses Shimano reels...only spinning gear--he refuses to use baitcasters. We bank fish but he's looking into getting a boat as well soon. I'm not looking to spend a fortune but it would be nice to put something together as a 'thank you' for everything. If you guys could give me a couple rod and reel idea's as well as a few lures to look into, i'd appreciate it. Thanks to whoever posts and gives some feedback!
  23. Do you guys all do palomar knots when you tie on a dropshot or what?
  24. Fishing in a local creek/river, the current is moving and I was throwing a 3/8 jig with a zoom trick worm as a trailer. How's the best way to work these? I'm assuming...throw downstream and treat it like a senko? Reel and lift up, then let fall back down and hope for a bite?
