  1. Today I grabbed my crankbait rod that has 20lb power pro super slick 8 on it and went to our pond to mess around awhile. Well when I got there I noticed that every time I tied my improved clinch if I gave it a pull to test the strength it would slip everytime. After 10-15 trys I gave up and switched to the Palomar that I dislike and it worked. Why is this happening all the sudden? I used the improved clinch for this line for forever and I use the improved clinch for my other rigs to and never had it slip like this. The line is probably 3-4 months old, is it just failing because its old? I don't see how the line would slip just from being old because it still has all of its 20lb strength... I wrap my improved clinch 8 times for 20lb super slick then I tried 9 and it would still slip.... Any help guys?
  2. I think he was being sarcastic...
  3. After getting them suggested to me multiple times on the forum I picked up a pack of the megastrike skakE2 pro series shakey heads and they are great. Those suckers stand up to they almost never fall over...
  4. I hope everyone effected by that flooding recovers from the damages...
  5. Congrats! I still haven't got very much into the world of swimbaits yet...
  6. Try jigs or 12" worms. They may make you catch less fish but the fish you do catch will be bigger on average. But don't be surprised when a dink gobbles your worm that's longer than he is haha
  7. I recently had a carbonlite johnny morris reel from BPS do the same thing. I sent it in because I found out I got a warranty but forgot I had it lol
  8. Yup if Im spooling straight braid I'll just put a piece of electric tape on the spool. If I'm in money saver mode I go for mono backing
  9. I only use a 5:1 for deep divers which I rarely use because the lake I fish most averages 5-7ft deep. But for all my other lipped crankbaits I use a 6.4:1 because I'll lose my arm trying to reel a 5:1 fast all day haha For lipless cranks I like a 7:1 or higher
  10. Is it banks lake? That's the lake I fish everyday, I live in valdosta. Brightly colored squarebills are killer bumped and banged around the Cyprus trees, just get ready to start cursing some tree moss because its EVERYWHERE out there. When it comes to soft plastics brightly or very dark colored beaver style lures and trick worms work very well for me. If it is banks lake, go waaay in the back and the lilly pads are so thick it looks like you can walk on them and there is a lot if matted grass, if you punch through this or run baits over and under the pads you WILL catch bass. If you follow the main channel down the middle of the lake you will hit some matted grass, I'd start fishing there and work your way down until you hit the pads I talked about. Then maybe start fishing all throughout the Cyprus trees... If your even talking about banks that is... It sounds like what you described... Edit: sorry, I'm assuming you have a boat
  11. .I have been slaying the bass with a chartreuse crankbait in low visibility water for a long time and it became my confidence color pretty soon, but then I got to thinking why don't I throw this in clear water once in awhile? So I went to my local gin clear lake and caught 6 on the color, Switched to a natural color and caught 5 more. So it got me thinking, does color even matter on little baits like small cranks?
  12. Hey guys, when I use jigs I'm almost exclusively using zoom speed craws and rage craws as my trailer but I was thinking about trying out some rage tail space monkeys, do you guys like them as a trailer? I've caught fish on them Texas rigged and I'm thinking it would be a good trailer when you want something with a little more action.
  13. Nice setup! Hope you catch plenty more fish on it
  14. What kind of grip is it and do you like em? I'm looking into buying one
  15. They both cast a lot farther than you'll need them too.
  16. I agree, the square bills are very good, I bought one and have caught a boat load with it but I'll just stick to my KVD 1.5's for now considering the price difference because they both catch fish.
  17. Click your name Then click edit my profile Then click change profile picture
  18. Most panfish fish don't NEED a good reel but it always helps to have one!
  19. Im wondering how many people on here rely on electronics to find fish more than fishing visible structure, I fish out of a jonboat more than the bigger boat we have and it doesn't have electronics so I find myself pounding visible structure around the clock. The only time I'm fishing non-visible cover is when I go to spots I already have memorized in the lake I'm familiar with.
  20. For a more all around rig I'd go with 40lb braid with a X-lb flouroleader, I made a thread about this and that's what mosted people suggested. I tried it and love it so far, but I did end up switching to 50lb braid because I fish a little bit thicker cover
  21. I just bought a rod and reel for soft plastics so I don't have the funds right now for another but I'll look into that for my next cranking combo! Right now I'm using the rod i mentiined and a shimano zeles reel (6.4:1) and 20lb pro pro and I love it. It seems like with cranking your spool gets packed so tight you can get away with thin braid like 20lb...
  22. I agree with this because he is using a stiffer rod, but with a rod with more give I'd reccomend 20lb power pro braid for square bills!
  23. I use a 6/0 eagle claw EWG hook for my zoom 12" ribbon tail worms and my Berkeley power worms
  24. I fill mine up all the way like that but I prefer for it to be 1/16th from full. But I fill it up just so it last longer without needing a respool
