  1. I did figure this out the past fall. I have never had so much action before until I tried the buzz bait on the oxbow lake I fish. There was one tree top I threw my buzz bait into and caught 4 bass on 4 cast. I couldn't believe it.
  2. Yes we have oxbow lakes on our river. I tend to fish the lakes a lot fishing around laydown because there is not a lot of difference on the bottom of the lake it just kinda stays the same and is flat. The only difference is one side is more of a bluff wall and the other side is a more of a shallow bank. Now that I know were this lake come from it has opened my eyes a lot because I never knew how that lake was created until now. DUHH!! Wow!! Ok so if there is an oxbow that has not been created into a lake yet would you fish the whole U shape or a certain point of it?
  3. Ok i understand what an oxbow is now. So is it and oxbow lake that these Fish are holding in? Or is it a certain part of an oxbow were there current is Still flowing?
  4. I had a guy telling me he has been catching most of his fish in the oxbows in our river. I don't really understand what that means or what it really is or where he is fishing. Anybody know?
  5. I can't get rid of the dern things. They are everywhere here and they are beasts!! They are about like bass during the summer months ive noticed they hang near the surface. Cut bait, shrimp, crickets, and minnows are all good bait. When I do try to catch then I sight fish for them and just put a hook on the line no sinker, just keep throwing to it until he grabs it. But they are very ski dish in some since.
  6. Will defiantly be there, leaving the house 4am Sunday for a 4 hour drive. Hoping to meet some of the famous bass resource guys. Just hopeing I won't get there and empty my wallet. My first time witnessing the Classic!!
  7. Get the green mirror. They will be plenty dark If you go out were there is no shade. But with the blue mirror there is a chance when you get in those shaded areas or wooded areas they will be a little to dark.
  8. Would a stump grinder be a good idea to grind up 50 stumps only 5 inches wide? What are you going to be grading with?
  9. I have a 3 acre lot it is very rough because it used to be a field and it has lots of small stumps through out the yard. I'm trying to figure out the best route to take on getting the stumps up and getting it leveled out myself. I do have a tractor nothing big but its lot small either.
  10. You will defiantly learn a lot. There is a lot of good guys with lots of knowledge here. Were do you fish mostly?
  11. welcome!! what part of SC you from?
  12. That is one of the coolest things I've seen. It shows it doesn't take fancy equipment to be awesome. I never knew the boats started out as inboard motors. Thanks for that Great post!!
  13. The blue are a little darker for places like the ocean because there is no shade. The amber have copper colored view. I have had both and neither are any better or worse in my opinion. Seeing into the water isn't any different between the to, they both excel equally. There is a chance costa will repair the glasses for 11.50. But if they think you caused the problem then they will charge you for the repair if you want them repaired.
  14. Enjoy it man!!! Hard work pays off right?
  15. Lucky!!! This is my dream bass boat. The color is awesome.
  16. Enjoy it while it last man. Then when you get a job you wont be able to stand waiting for those income tax checks.
  17. Fishing in the river with a buddy that's not even close to being accurate with a bait caster yet was constantly getting in the trees. One cast got so tangled we went up to the tree and he went to snatching and shacking the tree. Who would have guessed two cotton mouth water moccasins come flying in the boat. There I went over board, I'm not playing with snakes; not this ol boy. They ended up crawling out and we got back in and went home cause I was ticked and wet. Few weeks later I took another friend fishing. Same problem!! went to the tree but not close enough for snakes to fall in. That didn't mater this one had a wasp nest the size of a basketball. They stung me 4 or 5 times luckily that's all. But I no longer have that reel or hat or sunglasses. This is why I mostly fish alone now and cut all my lines (unless its an expensive lure).
  18. Ok I went to the river. I was already late and one of my trolling batteries went out on me in the first 30 min. I did have one hit and miss on bass. But I was so aggravated I put up my bass rigs and tied to a tree and catfished the rest of the day. Caught a good mess of catfish, and good eating size. By what I observed the fish were on a slow bite right now but they seem to be thinking about feeding. Thanks for the help guys
  19. Yea I'm talking about lower than Clarks hill. Its nothing but little natural lakes and straight river from there. I was reading about a tournament they had at the landing I always put in at on the savannah river and this guy didn't win but he got the biggest bass with 14 pounds. I couldn't believe that. Most of the river is bluff walls also
  20. Alright guys I'm headed to the savannah river in the morning. Water temp upper 40s from what I've heard, slightly muddy, pretty heavy current water, not tidal water. Weather will be in the 60's tomorrow. There are lakes on this river (that's what we call them if that's not the proper word). Reason for this post is I'm still missing links on knowing what to do when I hit the water and knowing were to attack. I don't have money for any good electronics but I do have a simple depth finder. im learning more things from the wonderful people on this site and the more I learn I will be better. So I am wanting to know what a seasoned angler would do to attack this body of water and what he or she looks for to find the fish and the lure and presentation that he or she would possibly use. There are a lot of trees down in this river and not much rock. Any advice is awesome
  21. Is there Are there places to fish off the land to cast under the bridge or do you have to fish off the bridge? If I hook onto something kind of big I imagine it wouldn't be to fun getting that fish up on a bridge. Do you use a Carolina rig, texas, cork, or a jig type rig? I like fishing a Carolina rig around here
  22. Its the motor I have on my boat a mercury black max 135
  23. My boat that I have is a 95 with a 94 mercury. It was the original motor that came with the boat. That is actually the exact boat I want to get one day, color and everything. It looks like a roomy and reliable boat. Just look at the motor really well for oil leaking in multiple places
  24. Sweet man!!! Congrats on that
