  1. Me and a buddy went to bass pro to get us some reels. We got there and I got me a abu Garcia revo and a good rod for about $200 and he said that was stupid he would be just as happy with a cheaper reel so he goes and finds a combo for about $70. Talking crap and saying he wishes he had my money and everything in between. You know what? That was a lot of money but that was 5 years ago and guess who still has their rod and reel; This guy does!!!! His lasted about a year and has bought 2 more because he can't put his mind to spending $200. Not saying cheaper stuff wont last or catch fish but odds are you paid for quality that will last you a long time.
  2. Man there is no easy way around a women and not spending the money on her. I'm lucky because my fiancé smokes and until she quits I can just about spend all the money I want if she can spend 1800 on cigarettes a year I can spend money on whatever I want. Witch I much rather give up spending all I want than for her to keep smoking. I'd tell her next time it comes up in a soft sweet voice; babe I can afford to purchase them items and it is something that is really going to make me a better fisherman and succeed in this great sport that I want to be involved in and I would love if you would get involved and enjoy it with me. I can buy you a nice pink reel and you will be the coolest girl on the lake!!!
  3. I remember when I caught my PB it was a great fishing day I was convinced to start fishing everyday so I could be a pro. LOL yea right!!! Go catch another PB
  4. I have a 94 mercury and the water pump had never been replaced. Finally replaced the whole water pump witch is 40 or 50 bucks. A friend is a good idea like BassnChris said. Lots of youtube videos to help. I would suggest pulling your boat and trailer up onto ramps so you don't have to bend over so much. Made it 10 times easier for me. whole process Took about 30 min. Go ahead and replace the whole thing is my advice. Putting the foot back on was the hard part and could have used a friend make sure you don't force it on because I tried and now the water line is a little mest up.
  5. Awesome man! CONGRATS!!!! Maybe 7Ib maybe 8
  6. Make sure to always clean them right away. If you can't soak in buttermilk. That's just what I've found to be the best way so they eat good. That's what all the old folks taught me.
  7. Ok I was doing kind of big snaps but I the reel I was using is kind of heavy so maybe that had some impact on how I was moving the bait
  8. Your sir are correct. Every officer that does his job in a professional manner and treats all law abiding citizens with respect deserves props. A officer does not have to be courteous and kind. Its is good to have an officer/DNR to be that way so I can have trust in them and respect them. Not many officers around my area are very kind and willing to go the extra mile to make things wright. I'm not and never will be in law enforcement but I know it has to be hard to treat people kindly when people have such a negative attitude towards the law. I will say thanks to every law enforcement officer that treats me with respect and does his duties in a professional manner. I'm glad this officer was kind enough not to tie up the ramp when he could have easily sat there and did what he needed to do and hold up everyone.
  9. Do you pop it fast or slow?
  10. I use a loop knot on it. I have a couple baits I walk the dog with but this is the first spook. Is the spook suppose to be walked? Are you suppose to hold the rod tip up or down to the water?
  11. I might fish the lake 3 times a year. I usually stay a weekend up there but im getting married soon so not much fishing going on. Stump hole this time of year has done me good with a white colored worm and wacky rigged worm around the Cypress trees. Junebug is another good color I've had luck on. Good luck and glad to here your well enough to go rip some lips. Be very careful don't want to ruin a trip knocking off your foot
  12. 12Ib. Well I was moving it kinda of hard then. What about braid I fish mostly muddy water
  13. Retiredbosn had a good idea check out what he has in mind. http://www.bassresource.com/bass-fishing-forums/topic/154575-any-interest-in-doing-a-meet-and-greet-br-day-at-clarks-hill/
  14. I went out the other day going to try out a spook I got out of my dads old old tack box. Cast it out there and when I start popping it, it starts diving. I don't think that's right and I couldn't figure out why. I'm using mono could that be the problem?
  15. Hey they look good. Answer to your question is, I've caught bass on old rusty, all chipped up baits. They should defiantly get a bite
  16. War eagle or Duracraft. Great multi species boat and they are hard to break and damage. Easy to clean just spray everything to the back of the boat open the plug and your done.
  17. It defiantly sounds good to me. See if some others will join in. The bragging rights tournament sounds like fun; even if I know Ill get beat lol.
  18. What do you have in mind for this meet and greet. I defiantly sounds like a good idea. Sharing knowledge and meeting knew fishing partners is always a fun thing about the passion of fishing. Fall would be an excellent time
  19. seemed like the blue back and chrome rattle trap did the best for us pulling it off the bank going down a steep drop off. We also caught all our other fish on shallow running dark orange crank baits. The weather was compketley diffrent then wish I could head back out there.
  20. Ok after this weekend I fished my first tournament and was so nervous and worried I was leaving some kind of fishing gear behind I ended up leaving the most important things behind, a blanket, a pillow and a good jacket. It hailed the day before the tournament and it was 30 degrees the 2 fishing days. I am definitely not used to that. I won't forget my blanket and pillow next time but now I know I need to invest in something's to protect my self for next time I go out in the extreme conditions (for a southerner). I'm guessing all the cold weather gear will be going on sale and I want to take advantage. What do I need to go get and is there certain brands you guys suggest. I really give all you northern anglers that go out in that stuff all the time some huge props. They say all these things in the world make you a man. But you aren't a man until you go 14 miles up a lake going 50mph with nothing but a hoodie and just a pair of jeans.
  21. What kind of fish do you target? I pull a 2500 pound bass boat with a little 4cylinder pickup wich I would not suggest I do it because I don't have far to travel.
  22. you got that right. Nothing wrong with a nice boat and accessories more praise to the guys who can afford it. It would have made it easier with those boats in that big water.
  23. Yes!!! Had a blast. Learned alot. I was just happy I didn't get skunked. Wow there were alot of boats. I will be doing it again now that I know what to expect and will be better prepared. But the best part of the whole thing; I was going to one of my spots I marked and I had to fish it. But there was a beautiful nitro z9 right were I was going, 2 big depth finders on the steering wheel and a huge unit on the deck. We sat back for 30 min waiting then he finally trolled 25 yards down the bank. We go up there first cast pull in a 3 pounder. Guy starts laughing and takes off. Felt good with my old rugged boat And just a little ol depth finder. Lol thanks for all the advice I think what it took this weekend was alot of knowledge of the lake,
