  1. Avid said he wants some tofurky!
  2. I thought you guys would like to see this. I was reading a local news site, and came along this editorial in the letter's to the publisher section. "Top 10 Reasons To Skip The Turkey 10. You will pardon a turkey -- just like President Bush, but for the right reasons. 9. You'll celebrate life and good fortune, rather than death and misfortune. 8. You won't suffer nightmares about how the turkey lived and died. 7. You won't have to call the Poultry Hotline to keep your family alive. 6. You won't have to sweat the saturated fat and cholesterol. 5. Your vegetarian friends will adore you. 4. Your kids will tell their friends about their cool "tofurky." 3. You won't fall asleep during the football game. 2. You are what you eat. Who wants to be a "butterball"? 1. Commercial turkeys are too fat to have sex. Could happen to you. This Thanksgiving, let's give thanks for our good fortune, health, and happiness with a life-affirming, cruelty-free feast of vegetables, fruits and grains. My family's Thanksgiving dinner menu will include a "tofurky," lentil roast, mashed potatoes, corn stuffing, stuffed squash, chestnut soup, candied yams, cranberry sauce, pumpkin pie, and perhaps even a carrot cake. An Internet search on Vegetarian Thanksgiving got us more recipes and other useful information than we could use. John Tatta Huntington " So, being the witty person I am, I thought I would write a little counter-editorial. So, here's what I responded to Mr. Tatta: "Top 10 Reasons To Eat A Turkey After I read a letter in this month's letter section talking about how we should save a turkey's life and go vegetarian, I thought I would write up reasons why we should eat turkey: 10. Eating turkey keeps the far-left PETA nut-jobs from coming near you. 9. It accomplishes what the Bible instructs us to do, to rule the earth, and enjoy what God has given us, as we are not part of any "mother earth." Remember, Father God created "Mother Earth." 8. It is low in fat without the skin. 7. It makes PETA mad. 6. They're fun to shoot and clean, and promote outdoor sportsmanship. 5. Eating a turkey and a traditional Thanksgiving dinner promotes family values 4. Did I mention it makes PETA mad? 3. Turkey is a natural source of protein. 2. Turkey evokes images of celebration, family, and friends. And for the number one reason why we should eat turkey... 1. Turkey have no capable way of having feelings, or souls! God created us, not monkeys, dolphins, turkey, or any other animals, to have souls. So, when some are sitting down eating their vegetarian dinners and feeling goody-goody about themselves, I'm thanking God for the bountiful harvest, and yes, eating turkey. Happy Thanksgiving! 3. Hey guys, Haven't had the chance to fish for a while due to my Grandpa being sick, and us staying with him, but managed to get away today. I also got to drive by myself to the pond for the first time, now that I have my license, so it was pretty cool. Conditions were clear to milky water, and it was an unusually warm day for November, lower 70s and it felt good. I could see bass, large bass, everywhere, but they were extremely spooky. I only caught one bass, but it was a solid fish and made the trip. The pond. Thanks! -TF
  4. Just think, if Kansas could get beat, or LSU....
  5. O how I hope they nail Kansas!
  6. God, our proud Servicemen and women, and my family and friends. Oh, and fishing.
  7. I'm sniffing National Title hopes....
  8. Ronnie, Thanks for the tip. I've also heard that you can do that with fish, except only let them soak for about an hour. It drives out the fishy taste. Get ya some deer guys! -TF
  9. Times 2 Big T, hang tough, won't don't kill you will only make you stronger, everything happens for a reason. He's right, one door closes, two more open.

I frequent here and wvsportsman.net's forums equally, as I am a moderator over there. They don't have much fishing talk, but what talk they do have I am a mod. I enjoy the local talk there. However, as far as fishing goes, this is the best place to be. I have been to other forums before, but these two are what I've settled in with.
  16. I will have to disagree with you on that one! There is no 'rationing' of services in Canada. If you get sick you go to the doctor. Simple as that. There is no long wait other than what we wait here in the US .... simply because out doctors double book patients to maximize profits. Ever been to the doctor and he leaves the room for a second to have the nurse do something for you? He's off talking to another patient, and filling their needs at the same time. Ever wonder why you have to wait 20 minutes to get into the appointment you had scheduled for 20 minutes earlier? It's because he's taking care of the 3 patients he booked at 1:30 while he scheduled you at 2. You're wrong there. We have several friends in Canada who tell us the absolute horror of the universal healthcare system there. You might think that you can walk in and walk out, but this is an absolute myth. They said that if you have to have a minor operation, you have to wait almost 6 months, and if you have a major surgery, you're considered lucky if you get it in the same year, it's that bad.
  17. Scored a 40%. Most of these are before my time.
  18. Some people on here must be avid, avid, avid fishers!
  19. Good to see Brett doing good. I'd love to see the Packers make this season a lot better and Farve could go out with a bang.
  20. Not meaning to hijack the thread... Really, I don't know if they will be able to move up more or not. A lot of things would have to happen. If they can get a BCS bowl, I will be satisfied.
  21. Well, at least the Steelers won, .....
  22. Or, WVU could win out and make it all the way!
