A Different "private Pond" Question
Ill go fish it with you. If any of the bass pro's catch us, and judge us for fishing a stocked pond, you can tell them it was my idea. I'll take one for the team.

Show off your Stuff
Just in the past year have I started getting some legitimate rods and reels. Nothing top of the line, just some stuff that can suit a guy like me who is just getting into bass fishing on a more serious level. Its been a year or so in the works, figuring out what techniques I lean on, and what gear I need, and I have it down to four combos that suit me perfectly for right now. Left to right: 1. Quantum pt kinetic with 65lb power pro, on a 6'6 ugly stik gx2. I mostly use frogs on this rod, along with some heavier jigs. Really anything that I throw that is decently heavy. 2.Abu garcia promax combo, left hand retrieve, 7.1.1, 20lb pline, 7ft medium heavy. I use this rod mostly for texas rigs and my finess jigs. 3. Lews carbon fire, 7.1.1, 15lb p line, on a 7ft Duckett ghost cranking rod (medium). I use this for all of my crankbaits, popper and spooks. Anything I throw that has trebles is usually 3/8 ounce or smaller. 4. Abu garcia vengence spinning combo, 7ft medium. 10lb monofilament. I use this rod for small tubes and shakey heads mostly.

Confidence Baits...jigs Ain't On The Last.
Start out with a small finesse jig, with a small trailer. My favorite is the 1/4 misslie mini flip jig, with a baby d bomb trailer. Take your rod, and only a few of those jigs out with you for a day on the water. Pitch to the weedlines and any cover you can find. after a while, you will hook up.

Least Versatile Lure?
topwater for sure. But I think a hollow body frog is even less versatile than walking baits, in my experience anyways.

Does Red Make Bass Mad?
I don't believe that the color red legitimately makes bass angry, however the color red, which is the color of blood and gills, can cause a reaction strike in most predatory fish.

Rod Selection: The Basics
It depends what type of plastics. If you were throwing a weightless worm, or a weightless fluke or something, I would say that a medium fast action would do fine, but if you like big texas rigged brush hogs or something like that I would most definitely go with the medium heavy.

Left Handed Retrieve To Right Handed
my advice: go back to left handed retrieve. I write with my right hand and retrieve with my left. No matter how much I practice, I will never write as well with my left hand, and I have a feeling the same goes for the manipulation of a baitcaster.

Mistreatment Of Bass By Professionals
dont get me wrong; I always do as much as I can to keep a fish as stress free as possibly, and do anything I can to keep from injuring them. at the same time, the way some people baby these fish is a little funny. there are people that i fish with that will hook up with a fish, net it from shore, unhook the fish in the net, and take the fish back to the water to "revive it", even though the fish has been out of water for maybe 25 seconds. Then they give me a hard time for lipping a fish, un hooking it, bending over and giving it a light toss from maybe a foot and a half above water. I do not feel that im abusing these fish at all. I think a lot of people forget how hardy this species actually is. The one thing people do that does bug me is cocking their neck to the side when lipping.

Swimbait Question
please don't jump on me if this has already been asked, because I wasn't exactly sure how to search for it because im not 100% sure how Im going to word this; I fish a couple reservoirs and large ponds that I know for a fact have a ton of bait fish and large bass. I wan't to get into swimbait fishing, and Im going to pick up a 6 inch hudd in yellow perch and rainbow trout. My only question is; what is going to make the fish go after these baits? I see tons of similar sized perch casually swimming around areas where I have hooked up with some hogs, and Ive never actually seen a bass go after them. What would make a bass actually go after my swimbait if I don't ever see them chase the real thing in the shallower water?

Best Outdoor State
The arguments for florida are solid, however im going to have to go with texas. I think the factors that put texas over florida are the mountain ranges and highlands in texas, the deserts, and a little less humidity. I might be biased because my girlfriend is a texan, but I like the people better too.
