  1. The LA part of SoCal. Only heard of Casitas. Has a reputation for monsters! Maybe next trip San Vicente will be open, down San Diego way.
  2. Spinning or Baitcasting?
  3. Probably #7, especially if the grass he jumped on was "medical" grade.
  4. I would to see them educated to keep the small ones and throw back anything 4+. In our neck of the woods it costs $8 a day to fish the lakes. That would buy a nice family meal of Tilipia at the store. I saw a shore fisherman fishing with shiners for Crappie, so I pointed him to a good spot. I sat in my tube and saw him catch three progressively bigger bass, starting at 4lbs. As he caught them he threw them in the dirt behind him and rebaited his hook. Wish I could take back that pointer! So, yeah, it bothers me.
  5. Looks like a nice 3 pounder to me. Nice fish!
  6. In our town the workers at Wendys are career people. Same people have been there as long as I can remember. Now they want $15 an hour and benefits because they cannot survive on their wages. If I were you I would be the best employee in the place, but I would keep an eye out for a better job.
  7. I need to do this, thanks!
  8. I was asked yesterday, "If you could fish three hours a day, would you?" I said, no, it would cease to be special!
  9. While my experience with big fish is limited, the couple that I have caught over 7 pulled hard at first but gave up relatively quickly. They also did not jump but rather just wallowed on the surface. The 4-5 pound fish I have caught have fought strongly and jumped and thrashed violently. A 2 pounder, while scrappy, does not have the mass to offer much resistence. On the other hand I have talked to guys who have caught DD bass that say those fish can pull like nobody's business. I hope to discover that for myself one day.
  10. Braided line has made spinning reels much better. (than they were)
  11. Coil was my guess too. Johnsons have something called a power pack that can act like this when bad.
  12. You want a single hook for a trailer. They are made special for that. There is generally a cut piece of rubber tubing over the eye of the trailer and then you put the first hook through the eye and tubing. I tried putting a pic but it was not allowed, sorry.
  13. I dont' get this zombie craze! People are dying to become Zombies! Do they really come out on Blood moons? Man, I wish I was fishing!
  14. That started on Thursday, for me! How did it know??? Reminds me of the mystery of the thermos. It keeps cold things cold and hot things hot, but how does it know which one to do?
  15. The bite on these large baits will always be more sparse. The pay-off can be huge. Wish I knew that from experience.
  16. Actually, I think we are designated semi-arid. San Diego averages about 10" of rain a year, where I live, about 15". We have not received anywhere near that amount in several years. To make matters worse, the snow-pack in the Sierras was at an all-time low last year. That snow provides water for much of the Southwest. El Nino is supposed to rescue us, we'll see.
  17. Now that is an interesting thought. I have not noticed whether or not I shift my casting hand after the lure lands. I'll have to take note of that. I do know this, my right hand is more coordinated for walking TW baits.
  18. It is a recent trend and will cause the manufacturers to make more lefty reels.
  19. You folks don't know the meaning of the word drought! We had less than 10" last year! We are being instructed to "let your lawn get a tan".
  20. That is crazy! I do exactly the same thing and it looks identical! Thought I was the only one! Works great! I use the plastic coated paper clips.
  21. Don't worry the place will be posted "no tresspassing" soon enough!
