  1. That's funny, all the talk about brakes and forgot to factor in the thumb! "My car won't go... oh wait, my foot is on the brake!"
  2. Spinning or casting would make all the difference here. Short casts on spinning gear is often due to not having the spool full. If you want long effortless casts try Nanofil. (I know it is not braid)
  3. Boy, so much info. I do something a little different with the Alberto. 7 wraps up and then only 4 down, BUT the last two wraps are inside the initial loop and around the braid. Very strong!
  4. So can Blue Cats survive in brackish water or does the Blue Crab move to fresh?
  5. A slight breeze puts a texture on the water that hides the true identity of the lure. So, yes, harder to detect that it is not food. Calm water is generally good in low-light conditions.
  6. Looks she would have been a little heavier a couple weeks back! Nice one!
  7. Ditch the knot and the clip or swivel. You need to learn the uni knot and you need to tie on every lure. Those cilps make you lazy about retying. I lost a good fish on Spyder Wire so I now go with Power Pro or TufLine. About the uni knot. It is easier to tie because you do not have to make a big loop to put the entire lure through. 4 wraps is what I use, but you can use more. Never heard of braid burning on the cinch.
  8. Got my first two TW fish this week. The wind is your friend and make long casts for stealth.
  9. Trouble can happen when the intake water ports get junk sucked up to them. No water = heat!
  10. Yep, the fish were to small, probably grabbing the legs, at best. For a good tutorial on hooking Frog fish, watch youtube videos by Bamabass. He has it down!
  11. LIe detectors for fishermen? Seems paradoxical!
  12. Find an exploded view parts list online. (before you start)
  13. Weight and balance combined with correct snap of the wrist. Just like the question at hand, many factors.
  14. Just do it. I have both and hardly notice when I pick up one or the other. Fights fatigue and repetitive movement disorder, whatever that is.
  15. I do "hand" gliding in my car sometimes. Put my hand out the window and let the wind push it up and down, great fun!
  16. Short shanks!
  17. Can't go wrong there, but you might downsize the reel. I like a 1000 size. With that rod you wil have $ left over. The Crucial or Cumara is a nice upgrade. Same length and action.
  18. Or take it to a tackle shop and they will do it for about $5 including the tip. Just hate to see you ruin a nice rod.
  19. Good info ^^^ . But be prepared to get skunked many days! This factor is what keeps me out of this game. Hard to know what you are doing, right or wrong, if nothing bites.
  20. Don't we all wish! "What is your life, but a vapor that appears for a while and then vanishes away."
  21. Dull hooks lose a lot of fish.
