Well this is going to be a tight one until the end. One bite could change your entire tournament. As of day one weigh ins, 3 pounds separates 20th and 97th place.

Pretty sure I still have 2 or 3 of them in a box somewhere. One of them was the first baitcaster I ever got back whenever I was probably only 10-12 years old.

Watching some of the coverage and Steve Kennedy is out here in 2026 still fishing with an old green Bantam Curado.

We are underway at Lake Martin. Over half the field doesn't have marshals today so following Basstrak is a bit pointless. I personally only have one guy with a marshal today.

So what you're saying is that I shouldn't count on Zaldain to be throwing a 12" swimbait this event?

I'm not sure if anyone is aware or not, but there was an open event on this lake in 2024. The winning weight for that 3 day event was only 35 pounds, so expect a dink fest.

With the first event of the year in the books, we got to see Hank Cherry lift that blue trophy at Guntersville. Wild to see him win an event throwing a Mister Twister grub and dropping 25+ pound bags. We have a quick turnaround as the boys will head south down to Lake Martin this weekend. I've got Welcher and Robertson fishing today. My other three picks completely bombed.

That was the story of my entire season last year. I had the day one all stars and they'd completely fall off as each tournament went on.

This is certainly interesting. I like that its being held on a lake that isn't super popular and over fished by professionals like this. They will have to find their own spots and think on their toes.

There's ice frozen on the grass mats at Guntersville right now. This event is going to be really interesting. 2 more days to make picks. We're at 32 guys and growing.
