Trolling Motors in the Cold
I have a question for all you people with Bow mounted Trolling Motors on bassboats. I live in NH where it gets cold, real cold. I have been taking off my trolling motor in the winter and bringing it inside and remounting it in the spring. I asked the guys at the local Trolling motor repair shop and they told me it wasnt needed. The boat gets covered so it would be out of the elements. Do any of you leave your trolling motors on through the winter? The Low temps can sometimes get down to -25°F. Any input would be great.

Ice fishing dangers
You need to know the Ice. If your a rookie to Ice Fishing tag along with a seasoned Ice Fishermen. The dark solid/clear Ice is strong Ice. Ice that has layers of snow/ sleet or air trapped in it is very weak and you should be leery of going out onto it. I have heard stories of people going through Ice that was pretty thick but had layers of snow and weak ice.

Jig Trailers?
My first jig trailer of preference is a Uncle Josh #11 Black pork trailer. After that I would go with a GYCB Twin Trailer. I also use Zooms Super Chunk and the sweet Beaver and Smallie Beaver.

Do you listen to music while you fish??
When I am fishing alone I wouldnt mind listening to music in the background (no earphones) but my bassboat is not equipped with a radio. When I am fishing with friends its usually chatting about fishing, different patterns to try, things that are going on in real life.

Can't wait for the spring
From Windham, New Hampshire (8:56a Jan 17 07) temp(4.8 F / -15.1 C) cond(Clear) wind(ESE at 0.0 mph / 0.0 km/h) humidity(75%) dewpoint(-1 F / -19 C) Today: Sunny. Highs in the mid teens. Northwest winds 10 to 20 mph. Wind chill values as low as 17 below this morning. I am hoping for an early Birthday present that I get to go out and fish before my Birthday, my Birthday is in late March. On a darker note, we got 1/2 in of freezing rain and we had no power for 1 day, and it snowed last night...

Ever been skunked?
I agree with most everyone so far. Everyone gets skunked, hell the last day out for me Jan 7th in NH, I got skunked. Nothing worse than prolonging the season breaking up ice and the last day out you get skunked, leaves a bad taste in your mouth. On the other hand my fall fishing this year has improved a great deal over previous years....

Jig Making Questions Galore...
Ok guys, First off I was playing around with the idea of getting into jig making to supply myself with some Jigs. The numerous questions: Is there a legitimate savings too producing your own Jigs? How time consuming is it, in regards too producing Jigs that are fishable? I have seen the DO-IT molds most have 1 cavity per size, is that normal, it seems it would be better to get a mold with multiple cavities for the size you use the most, or is there a reason this isnt the case? I personally use the LunkerLure Jigs at the moment is that head type available to the public in a mold? The Jigs I use the most and would be interested in making would be the following: Round Ball Head Jigs sizes 1/16oz, 1/8oz, 1/4oz Weedless Football Head Jigs 1/4oz, 3/8oz Weedless LunkerLure type Head Jigs 1/4oz, 3/8oz, 1/2oz Is it possible to find Molds that have more than 1 cavity per size? I just think it would be more efficient. Any other information you could give me would be greatly appreciated.

If you could recommend 1 fishing book
I have read KVDs book and "I caught a big un'... and let em go" by Jimmy Huston, they were ok. My favorite Books by far are the two that Denny Brauer released some time ago. These Books are a how too on his tactics. The first "Denny Brauer's Winning Tournament Tactics" and Denny Brauer's Jig Fishing Secrets. By far the best books I have read, hands down.

A Shoutout for NH Fishermen!!!
Yea its me again. I broke up the Ice at the launch this morning in an effort to help ease the Ice breaking chore, that will sure to be going on tomorrow morning. I bought a new license and I am ready to fish! I just have one problem with the weather so warm and the lake not totally frozen yet. Am I getting out to go fishing in NH really late in the season, or really early???

Did anyone else get this in the mail?
I couldnt agree with you more RW. I also have to say that he is 100% correct that YOU DONT HAVE TO PAY FOR THEM!

Getting ready for the Ice Breakers...
Hehehe, I tell my Fishing partner when we are out that once the water temperature goes below 50°F we are wearing our life jackets until we get off the boat. I do believe that this will be my last venture out for the 2006 season. I still cant believe that we are able to get out on the water in NH in January, what a trip...

Seasonal Guide to Lure Selection
Just a thought what happens when you are fishing water colder than 35°F? lol I found this to be somewhat helpful but not a guide to go by. I just think it helped to eliminate baits more than add any for me personally. Right now with water temps here hovering in the lower 30°Fs. Its only 3 or 5 baits maximum that you need to be looking at, up here anyway.

Terminator Type Skirts
Hey guys couldnt help but see you were looking for 'Terminator Type SpinnerBait Skirts'. I found a great seller on ebay selling just that, knock off 'Terminator Type SpinnerBait Skirts' granted his colors are quite limited. I ordered 3-4 colors from him in Bulk wholesale auctions. I think I paid $23 for 100 Chartruesse Skirts. I looked and he doesnt have any skirts for sale at the moment. You could message him and see what he might have or keep his seller ID and look back periodically. http://search.ebay.com/_W0QQsassZbeachesarefreeQQhtZ-1
