  1. I have 2 TD Fuegos. Great reels I love em. I do have big hands and being that they are on the small side I feel sometimes they might slip out of my hand. Other than that they are great reels.
  2. I have not heard pf anyone having any problems with the warranty from St Croix. The warranty for Quantum and Daiwa rods are even less stressful. From what I hear you just bring them back to the place of purchase and take one off the rack.
  3. To be honest its my experience that I have less of a problem with other fishermen. My problem lies with the idiots driving the Pleasure Boats, Pontoon Boats, and Jet skis. I cant fathom how rude people can be and the disregard for courtesy and safety, that seems to permeate through most of them while they are out on the lake behind the wheel. I have two instances one when I was a kid middle of the day fishing out of my parents canoe. I was paddling across the lake. A Pontoon Boat, the driver wrapped up in the conversation he was having with his friends. Obviously didnt take into the act the speed he was going or how close he was but came along side of my canoe and I had to push off with my oar to stop from having an accident. Granted he was going thru a no wake zone and obeying the speed but. Watch where you are going! The second instance happened 2 years ago. A pleasure boater filled with people crawling along at 5-8 mph. I was fishing a line of docks and rafts approx 40ft off shore. The boater disregarding the boater safety laws and common courtesy came in between me and the shore. I made it know to them that I wasnt happy, shouting something like "Thanks guys for the courtesy and safe distance." This was in a cove of my pond I noticed where he was going as he turned his boat to the wrong side of the marker buoys and landed his lower unit and prop square into the rocks. I stood there put my rod down on the deck and started clapping, yelling "Next time you might wanna peak at the boater safety manual." I rarely have a problem with fishermen just moronic pleasure boaters....
  4. No doubt about it a pre-rigged worm with maybe weedless hooks. I used to fish Kelly's pre-rigged worms, when I was a kid. These are deadly fish catchers. The "Pier Boy Special Series" catch just about anything that swims from crappie, perch, sunfish, pickerel, LM Bass, SM Bass. They come in all sorts of sizes and colors as well. You can get a better look at them here.
  5. I prefer the Titanium wire Spinner Baits myself...

In the fishing circles up here in NH. We give credit to the Senko but call it cheating or your using the "Idiot Bait". I fish mainly a jig and pig so resorting to a Senko is the end all be all of looking for a bait. Also when I am on the water I try not looking for numbers but for more quality fish than quantity.I might have thrown the Senko maybe a handful of times last year.
  7. Well I would check the battery for starters. Make sure its got a full charge and that there is plenty of fluid in it. Check the connections to the battery make sure they are good and clean, try to start your Motor again. Make sure if you have one that the lanyard kill switch is properly installed. After that I would start looking at the starter. Make sure all the connections are tight and clean. Next check the spark plugs for wear and clean em up or replace them. Finally make sure you have clean gas and pump the primer. By the sounds of it its an electrical problem, hope its an easy fix.
  8. Hey, thanks for the tip I hadn't heard that one. Thanks Again...
  9. Hey Guys just wanted to let everyone know that are in the market for some fishing line that BPS has their Excel Line on sale. As usual I'm not affiliated with BPS in anyway just thought I would pass along the savings to people who might need/want to know. Check it out here.
  10. As of last night Cobbets and Canobie were still frozen in getting some more open water around the edges but for the most part it was still iced in. Believe it or not I actually saw people out ICE FISHING on Cobbets Saturday afternoon. I thought they were pretty foolish for attempting that endeavor. Come on Sun!

    Good info and insight....
  12. Well I would go used, personally. as for an engine Mercury or even Honda make great engines. However I dont know if Honda makes engines in the 200hp range. I have seen Evinrudes Etec infomercials on TV and they seem pretty respectable as well.
  13. I hear you NHguy. I will give you a heads up when I see open water...
  14. Wow so much for some of the reasons I have been using Flurocarbon...
  15. Hey Bassmaster6, Is it just a 14ft aluminum jon boat? I dont see why you couldnt pull that with your Chevy. As for the lights what you will need is a light trailer light kit assembly. You may be lucky enough that you just need to purchase the pigtail to come down and meet your trailer. If its like my Toyota I needed a whole kit. Basically its a wire assembly that goes from the left rear lights on your truck to the right rear lights. It has adapters that you just unclip the old wire harness and plug each side of the old harness into the new harness provided. This will also come with a pigtail for the trailer. I cannot stress enough to cover your wire harness while not in use AND to get a small tube of electrical grease and use liberally on all the connections you have. If this is your first boat on a trailer be safe and go over this checklist before you leave the driveway nothing worse than a good trip ruined because of trailer problems.
  16. Well I got out! To the lake! Sat in my truck, and cried just a little and thought MAN I gotta move south...
  17. Well we are living in an Instant Gratification society now. It seems nobody saves money for anything anymore but rather take out loans to get what you want right away. I see allot of people, young people especially getting into unbelievable debt. Its a sign of the times I guess. With those new mortgages, I foresee allot more people getting into trouble when their houses become unaffordable.
  18. Wow!!! a 36V motor on a 17'6" boat. HAhaha you must put a wake out behind you. I have a 74lb MK on my 16'6" Nitro and it hauls a$$. I couldnt Imagine what your highend speed would be....
  19. Well me again kinda dont know which way I should go here and I came to ask the all knowing what they would do. I have decided to buy a Gloomis GLX rod. The 7' 1" BCR854 GLX or the 6'8" BCR804 GLX. I mainly pitch to boat docks, and I already have a 7'6" AllStar FRH flipping stick. I would be using mainly a 1/4oz jig with 17lb test on this rod. what do you guys suggest the 854GLX or the 804GLX. I used to have a 6'10" Castaway MH jig rod which in size is basically right in the middle. Any input would be helpful.
  20. Well I think that this goes for most of the gear we use on a regular basis in our sport. You would be pretty hard pressed on getting a decent rod and reel combo for under $200 now. Its kind of upsetting that some younger people trying to check out the sport might pass on it because of how much it costs to get into it. yes Im sure you can get a rod and reel combo for far less than $200 but is there any quality there? I doubt it. It just seems that these manufacturers only see these high tournament payouts and thats what they are designing their boats for but not the Angler who either doesnt plan on entering tournaments or only plans on doing a handful. For instance the Diawa Steez rod and reels +$400 each. Seriously not saying they arent great but seriously....
  21. In my experience when it comes to pitching with a baitcaster you need a MH to H rod from 6'6" to 7'6". This little exercise I learned from Denny Brauer at a seminar he spoke at. First have the lure you will be pitching tied on and any trailer being used on as well. Now hold the rod chest high the rod parallel to the ground have the lure reeled up to the rod tip. Next depress the thumbar button what your looking for is for the lure to fall on a "controlled" fall. If the lure zips to the ground and you end up overrunning/backlashing you need to increase the brake some more. Likewise if the lure barely moves downwards you need to decrease the brake. What you will find is that when you have your reel dialed in with the lure your using you will be able to depress the thumbar button have the lure fall to the ground without it backlashing and without using your thumb to slow it down. Now the reel will need to be recalibrated if you change weights or lures. With the reel calibrated like this I pitch without too many problems. Granted if I skip the lure across the water and hit the bottom of a dock it will overrun. In most cases I pitch with the lure in one hand reel/rod in the other. I put a little tension in the rod and snap upwards and let the lure go at the same time.
  22. Buy as much power as you can afford, you wont regret it. If your forced to go with a 12V system buy the most powerful motor out there. As for brand I have a Minn Kota 74lb 24V bow mount on my Nitro. I love it and couldnt see myself going to Motorguide. Thats my opinion I personally dont think you could make a mistake going either way, I just have a preference for Minn Kota.
  23. Well said... I too way back when didnt know how to properly fish a jig. It took 45 mins on a bridge with a soon to be good fishing friend for me to pick it up and know and understand what exactly your trying to feel for. The all to inconspicuous "Tick" you will hear that more than you will want too when it comes to explaining a jig bite. Basically what you are feeling is the bass sucking the Jig into its mouth and you are feeling the Jig head hit the hard part of the bass's back part of its mouth. What it feels like is imagine someone flicking your line with their finger, in a snapping motion. If you are a line watcher which I highly recommend when Jig fishing your line will hop or start swimming off to one side or the other. The way I do my jig fishing is on a "Semi-Slack" line. just enough slack so the fish cant feel you on the other end but not so much slack that you cant tell whats going on down in the water. Trailers are very important I mostly use Uncle Josh #11 pork frogs and GYCB twin tail grub. Remember most importantly to "know" what your jig is doing at all times. Is it going over a rock, wood, through some grass, very important also to know how deep your fishing if your fishing in 4ft of water and your jig only falls 2ft you could have a fish on. Like Hawgin said if you ever feel your line get mushy, heavy, or it just seems really light pick up some slack and set the hook.
  24. Yea, its been pretty brutal. To get more snow in one storm so late than you have had all winter. It just seems a hard slap in the face. I have got Cabin Fever big time. I have about finished organizing my tackle to go back into the boat. need to get on and find some new batteries, for the trolling motor. Then I should be good to go.
