  1. Stock back up on tackle and will probably take advantage of the kistler mag sale on TW.
  2. I like VMC pretty well.
  3. Thanks for the reply Bob. You ever use this line with Texas rigs of jigs? Is this lines breaking strength way higher then it's lb test like yo zuri ? Thanks!
  4. 6'9"MH/XF kistler mag with lews speed spool in 7.5.1 and 10lb mono.
  5. Anyone use this? I've heard great things about it, it's pretty cheap also. Also I've heard it doesn't float any truth to that?
  6. I've used red label as a mainline for quite some time and I have no complaints at all.
  7. Can't beat em!
  8. Kistler klx they go on sale quite often. NFC blanks.
  9. Thanks, I'll be coming out of trooper island probably.
  10. Thanks for the reply. I had plans on fishng big slow tapering points and channel banks when I go, as those are areas fish will be on any lake. If you don't mind keep me updated on the bite.
  11. Hard to beat a good ole culprit.
  12. Anything going yet? Thinking about heading down around thanksgiving, any tips would be greatly appreciated will be my first trip.
  13. Well at your price point your kind of limited. You could get a $100 reel and $50 Rod and it last forever. Or a $100 Rod and $50 reel and have the reel crap out on you after a season. If you could stretch your combo budget out you will be better off in the long run. The Lews lfs speed spool can be had for $80 on eBay all day with free shipping, imo this is the best reel in this price point. Then pick you up a $100-120 Rod and you will have an awesome combo.
  14. That's a loaded question with many different answers. Casting or spinning ? Deep clear water or shallow dirty water? Location? Main forage? Give us more info and it will be easier to make reccomendations.
  15. I fish the musky capital of the south regularly (cave run) another great musky lake is 20 minutes away and a awesome musky river is in my front yard. One thing that I've learned is musky love big soft plastics! 15" worms big creatures, lizards, big stick baits, and big paddle tail swimbaits(check out salt shakers or j-macs). Any of these would work well on bass gear and catch musky anywhere. I would not reccomend musky hardbaits or spinners on bass size geared they will overpower it and possibly break your gear and deffiantely shorten the life of your reels. Musky lures have a lot of pull, especially double 10's.
  16. I have a BPS crankin stick hard to beat for the money.
  17. Any Rod in medium power fast action will work great i perfer 7'. My reccomendation is a klx.
  18. It could be either braid slipping if you use braid or your drag is just gone. Looseb drag after every trip not just winter.
  19. So are the klx's! I now have 4 kistler rods, 2 klxs one helium and one mag. Those are my favorite new rods!
  20. Not to much at all, but like jazzpipes said buy stuff you will need/use. For example don't buy a bunch of 6xds or 10xds if your not gonna deep crank.
  21. Thanks alot Tom for a very informational post.
  22. Welcome! I'm in eastern ky where are you? Please don't say ky lake or Barkley I'll be jealous.
  23. I know they have been tons of questions asked about fluorocarbon lines. I did a quick search for my question but couldn't find the answer. For example sniper 18lb is the size of seaguar 15lb, both different lb ratings but do they actually have the same breaking strength? Cause I know some lines have a smaller lb rating but have same diameter as larger lb ratings but have the same breaking sttength for example yo-zuri.
