  1. I have both and they are both great reels imo you can't beat Lews. If you can afford the mb go for it if not you are still getting a awesome reel in the lfs.
  2. Mainly Netbait and big bite.
  3. I agree but I also use big line. Not so much to handle the fish but to suit the technique. I don't wanna be using 12lb big game on a 7'6 heavy Rod with a 1oz football jig in 30 foot of water on a brushpile.
  4. Since it has so much pads I would concentrate on isolated patches or spots where two or more types of cover come together. By the way structure is a change in bottom contour Such as points, flats, and humps. Cover is anything bass will use as a hiding spot. In your situation wood and pads.
  5. Concnetrate more on baitfish not shallow water. Since your fishing a pond bluegill is more than likely the main forage for bass. So follow the bluegill if they go shallow you go shallow if not stay where they are, the bass won't be far behind. As far as lures anything in a bluegill pattern, try ripping a lipless crankbait.
  6. Swim jigs Jig craw trailer Senkos Squarebill
  7. Learn to deep crank better.
  8. Deffantiely get a magnesium from TW that's on sale. If not that I would reccomend a lews tp-1 or custom speed stick(can be had for around $110 on eBay). Lews rods are highly over looked.
  9. BigBill don't get caught in a storm with one of those in your hands!!
  10. KVD jumped him on the street put him in a arm bar and ended his career. KVD knew he was coming on strong and didnt want his title best in bass fishing took.
  11. I don't recall the name but some website sells used plastic by the pound orett cheap if I remeeber right. You can also choose color.
  12. If you would have accidentally added another p to stripers this thread would already be 3 pages long.
  13. Punching is a technique I would consider punching lilly pads a pattern, that is if your catching fish.
  14. Well both the lakes I fish was flooded 20'+ from December till end of may. Grass came back up around end of June lasted about a week and got flooded again. Needless to say Ive been all wood this year.
  15. I always just use a 5" or 6" in whatever color the water calls for. Imo stick baits larger then that lose that deadly wobble action, mainly because they are HUGE. Don't know about senkos but I know some other lure compaines 7" stick baits are WAY larger then 5" ones. They just don't have that same action, partly becasue they are as big around as your big toe lol.
  16. Hard for me to explaon here because I don't know what all the parts are called on a reel but I've had this happen. The round brass part with teeth I guess the main gear? it has a silver piece with catches that sits under it, this is what closes the spool. When you crank the handle it should make contact to the little silver like bar inside the reel that goes to the button.(just look at its location you will know it's for the spool button). The silver piece under the main gear should be sitting in a rectangular notch under it(on bottom of stem that main gear, drag washers, and reel handle go on. I had this exact problem with a lfs I did what I tried my best to describe and it worked. Hope that helped like I said hard for me to explain.
  17. Never fished out of a kayak but I assume longer rods could be harder to fish with maybe. 7' is probably the most commonly used length rod I think you would be happy with that. I've heard nothing but good things out of dobyns but have never fished one. My vote still goes to the KLX, awesome rods.
  18. Just got a 7'6" heavy xfast today. Got it for $197 including the sale and point I had built up.
  19. Klx, built on a northfork composites blank and the cleanest build I have ever seen. The blank should be reason enough.
  20. I agree with this it's hard to believe but there is a big difference between an $80 reel and $100 reel imo. And most $100 reels can be bought all day for $80(speed spool).
  21. To many answers to that ! I'll just say you came to the right place to learn though. Best answer I can give you is read as many articles on here as you can and it will all come together.
  22. Must be nice huh? Probably free shipping too lol.
  23. Okuma citrix 350, Okuma Komodo 350, lexa 300, revo toro, or curado 300.
