Some fun comments from Derek Jeter (love the ones about the pine tar): Even though the Yankees (97-65) matched the crosstown New York Mets for the best regular-season record in baseball this year, Jeter doesn't take much satisfaction from the season. On Tuesday, Mets first baseman Carlos Delgado said he thought the Mets were the NL's best team. "They don't give a trophy saying: 'Well, you know, you thought you had the best team, so you win,'" Jeter said. "It doesn't make a difference what you think about your team. The bottom line is who performs." While Jeter heard about the controversy over what was on Kenny Rogers' hand in Game 2 of the World Series, he said there was no discussion of any foreign substance during Rogers' playoff start against the Yankees. "I don't think that really had anything to do with it," Jeter said. "Bottom line, you can take a pine tar rag and put it behind the mound if you want, you've still got to throw the ball over the plate." Rogers, who hasn't allowed a run in the postseason, appeared to have a mark -- although lighter -- on his hand during his start against New York. When told about the pictures, Jeter smiled. "So you just send Detroit home and we can come play tomorrow, right?" he joked.

Moving out of State, narrowing states down.
Gameover, I live in Nashville. It is a great town with a booming economy. No state income tax. Schools can be good and bad, busing situation complicates things so surrounding counties are better for schools. TN is probably much like TX as far as everyday living. Our seasons are probably a bit more distinct although we can't handle the snow when it does come. There are alot of Michigan transplants here due to the Saturn plant. There is SEC college football (UT in Knoxville and Vanderbilt in Nashville), the NFL, NHL and AAA baseball (farm team for the Brewers). The medical community is excellent with Vanderbilt's Hospital and we are headquaters for Hospital Corp of America so they have their flagship hospitals here. Alot of great fishing with the corp of engineers and TVA dam's creating numerous resevoirs on the Tennessee and Cumberland Rivers. Music community is outstanding and is not only country. PM if any specific questions....here is links to the local newspaper, one of the local TV stations and the city's website http://www.tennessean.com/apps/pbcs.dll/frontpage http://www.newschannel5.com/ http://www.nashville.gov/flashpgs/flashhome.htm Hope this is helpful

Even though he washed his hands after the first inning I bet they were still pretty sticky.....that stuff is hard to clean up. I think they'll (Selig & Co) try to keep this as low key as possible to avoid as much controversy as possible. Remember guys.....to the top brass it's all about the $$$$$. What's right and wrong is secondary.

hard to post this here
Thoughts and prayers are with you Gameover. Might want to check options in the Nashville area if you are in the auto industry. Lots of folks from Michigan moved here with Saturn. We also have Nissan, Bridgestone, Ford has had a glass plant here for years. All that has brought alot of related industry. Economy is on the upswing, no income tax, great place to raise kids. Added bonus.....good fishing with a longer season and for you Michigan folks we have the NHL PM me if this is an option or if you have any interest, I'll be glad to help in any way I can

K Mac....I meant a 5 game series as it's now winning 3 out of the 5 remaining to play.... Senile....Let's see....brylcreme, spit, pine tar, cork it ain't right but it's part of the lure of the game....Gaylord's a piece of work, he comes to Nashville every so often and the sports talk show interviews him, he's always fun. I thought George Brett had the patent on pine tar or was that preparation H ;D....from the bat to the pitching hand, whats next? I suppose if Rogers gets to pitch in St Louis he'll be batting and that stuff will be all over his hands.

Lake Fork Questions
I was in Knoxville this weekend to see my TN Vols beat the AL Crimson Tide..... Right around the block from our motel was a brand spankin new Gander Mountain store.... Soooo, This morning the Bait Monkey and I had to make a celebratory visit to check it out.... I found these "Lake Fork" baits there and of course had to buy some (I got a package of the "Magic Shad") Since this isn't a tournament I thought I'd share this valuable info with everyone....any of the folks with Lake Fork experience use these? Maybe these will be the ticket so we all can catch a sharelunker or two ;D.....link below: http://www.lakeforktackle.com/tackle.asp?cat=1

IMHO the young Mr Wainwright was throwing one nasty curveball........a gutsy performance for sure. Seems like everyone is already annointing the Tigers the WS champs just like they did with the Yankees not so long ago.......wonder if the Red Birds will have something to say about that? I guess thats why they play the games. I still think the Tigers in 6 because of that pitching staff.....but they have to keep it up and they could be rusty from the long break........PLAY BALL

First car
Anybody remember the Chevy Corvair? It was a beauty....mine died in two weeks after I got it. For the younger folks this is what they looked like. I guess its kinda like a cult classic now but they were bad vehicles.

Setting Your Drag
RW, On the Yozuri Hybrid lines do you set your drag to 1/4 - 1/3 of the lb test listed on the spool or the higher breaking strengh? From reading your initial post it seems you use the higher breaking strength but I just want to be sure??? Thanks, this is an informative thread...... NB, I like the grocery bag idea, some good old yankee inginuity there!
