Yes you sure did! Hell of a fish. I just don't know enough to be dangerous there and it's a much longer drive for me than WC. You can guide me sometime.

Might wanna get out there before Saturday when the Hot Water Shootout guys beat it up. I think a WC trip is in order this weekend. I'd rather be there any day of the week anyhow.

Everyone at Melvern was like "When did Curt get a PowerPole?" Maybe you should just cut your losses with the 360 and replace it with a PP that might actually work as it should

Man I really hate to hear that, I'm really sorry. Sending good vibes for a speedy recovery for all. To shed a little light on it, you've got me curious about the ER doc, haha. Seems every time I've been in or around an emergency the same thing has happened.

The brown fish, they speak to me, you see. I'm just glad Peter got to come out and fish too. He said himself he hasn't been on a boat since our first LV tournament.

Not too interested, considering I know that lake for nothing besides Crappie fishing and duck hunting.

We all, for the most part, have females in our lives and we understand. You were at LOZ all last weekend, so understandable. DJ backed out (well, technically his girl backed out FOR him via a lovely text I received from her last night) because he was gone all last weekend pheasant hunting. So, again understandable. We all get it, I'm just giving a hard time.

Kind of my thought process also. Should be a good day for those that are fishing. The others who aren't working, are buttheads.

He ended up selling that one. But was just out of my price range.

The one by me has them right now for $79.95. There's even one lonely 6' 8" MXF Rage for 89.99. None of the rods have moved since I talked to the sales guy to see if they had more in the back, so maybe it's fate...

Anyone selling a 7' ML or M spinning rod or want to sell one? Preferably XF tip and a split grip, but just want to see what anyone here might have before I go to Dicks and buy another Mojo they are clearancing out.

Raymond posted a video on Facebook that Jeremy made (dude that got second I think). All he threw the entire GoPro video was an A-Rig. Didn't see a jig once or anything.

I'm not sharing anything about Melvern this weekend because I'm super secretive and cryptic. Because of our get together next weekend. All I can tell you is this: it was windy. But what I can share with you is this. Better watch out.

Nope, nope and nope. Had yesterday off and planned to take a vet out, but had to totally cancel. I'd driven over to Clinton to, at the very least fish around the marina cove, but the SW wind was blowing 3 footers up on to the ramp. Just was not happening.

That is one of Lake Shawnee's famed giant Smallies.

Gotta say, Melvern was tougher than it's been for me for a while now. My guide trip on Saturday was fairly decent though, being able to fish immediately after the rain stopped. We weren't quite in post-frontal mode yet and the fish were still eating moving baits. Best fish was just under 3# (on a Buzz's 0.5), and tons of giant white bass. I mean giant. The guys had a good time and we didn't get wet. Sunday was a different story. Full on post front-highest bluebird skies and pressure through the roof. Took the That's a Good Fish guys out from Joplin again for some more footage for their show (in their boat). It was mind numbingly frustrating (for me at least). But as usual, still managed a few good fish, including my biggest Melvern LMB ever, 3 lbs. 2 oz. 18 1/4 inches. On a tube, in non-LMB territory. Sure had me surprised.

To be honest I've never really had too much difficulty with a post frontal system at Melvern. It won't be hot and heavy, but the fish will still be eating. I think it's just because I run and gun so much and am always changing presentations, even if there's no apparent pattern. As long as there's a little wind, you won't have to throw the Ned all d**n day.

The masses have gone quiet... Anyone fishing this weekend? Looks like I'll be starting off tomorrow morning with clients in the rain at Melvern. Sunday as well, but much nicer weather. Next weekend I'm helping out at a Heroes on the Water benefit tournament at Milford, which I donated a guide trip to for their silent auction. I'll just be fun fishing during tournament hours, but looking forward to it. Never fished Milford before but obviously hear great things. Then next Sunday I'll be back at Clinton for a change of pace-drove out to the marina yesterday and judging by the nice water clarity, it may have already turned over. I have the weekend of the 14-15th open, but think I may use that weekend to take my dad out and fun fish somewhere (he'll probably choose Melvern). I have Veteran's Day off work, so I'm gonna take a vet buddy of mine out there for the day as well. If anyone decides to run to 'Vern this weekend, come by and say hey. Sunday looks pretty nice.

Re: Wyandotte County Lake
I'm fishing Milford next weekend for a tournament/benefit deal and I WILL be looking for those toad Smallies. State record came from Milford at just under 7# Still grinding for that 4+ at 'Vern...
