  1. People have been asking me why I've fished the same lake for the last 8 weeks, and that's the exact answer I've given them. Melv is a gem and I just don't get tired of catching smallies. Add to that the fact that I'd really like to see a 4#+ before the year is out.
  2. Wouldn't it just figure that I finally caught the boat problem bug? Took a dump on me at Melvern yesterday during a trip. Thinking its a fuel pump deal and fingers crossed will have it back by this weekend. Otherwise we'll be using DJs boat. Just my luck though. Been solid all season until the week of the big tournament lol. Should be fine though!
  3. Text me the rates when you get them and I'll make the call. I'd already kind of just thought to drive home and then drive back out in the morning...but if the price is right I'd stay and partay.
  4. I think I'm going to call you that from now on
  5. I left that part out lol. 3 hour drive back and in the last 5 minutes that happened. Poor guys. I'm sure they caught fish at least
  6. It's fun dude. Stay close to the 8.5mm and we'll party.
  7. I'm ready for sure. Anxious to get everything ironed out on Thursday.
  8. Yeah my buddy Tim and Dustin fished it. Didn't see any pics or updates on the Facebook side though.
  9. Conor and I talked about it yesterday. One hundredth of a pound was the difference between second and third place. $10,000....decided by .01 pound. 1: 6.88 2: 6.65 3: 6.64 4: 6.58 Could you even imagine...?
  10. A little swimming and a little dead sticking. Keep it slowly ticking the rocks.
  11. Ahhhh, fall at Lone Star
  12. Had a guy book a two day trip at Melvern Saturday and Sunday. Drew and I already had plans to fish Saturday, so he tagged along and the client had no qualms with it. Saturday was better than Sunday. Between both days we caught fish on just about everything-swimbaits, 1.0s, tubes, Ned. Drew had big fish on Saturday on a BBZ he painted. My client had never heard of the Ned, so when things slowed down some midday and I finally got him to pick up a finesse bait, he was instantly sold. Come to think of it, his first cast with the Ned yielded his biggest fish of the trip. He couldn't get enough of it. So much that when we went back out on Sunday, he showed up with a brand new spinning setup that he bought just for the occasion. But Sunday was a bit slower, we still caught a ton of fish, just nothing of real size (to my standards) to speak of. Had a few of his fish over 17" come unbuttoned on a Keitech, that seemed to be the crowd favorite. I caught more Walleye and White Bass this weekend than I ever have on Melvern. One of the walters even hit a spinnerbait. Great two day trip though, nice guy. He had a blast.
  13. It was in our rotation this season and we all saw good fish come out for sure, Adam is all about it. But if I'm going to Hillsdale it's to Walleye fish and not much else.
  14. #2 on the list of 50 things no one has ever said

  18. *insert some sarcastic remark from some turd regarding swinging fish or grabbing your line at Melvern*
  19. Took the day off work yesterday w/ Conor to get one last fun fishing day in @ Melvern before the entire month of October is booked with guide trips there. I also had a 3:30 trip at Clinton so taking off worked nicely. It was a big tougher than it has been yesterday, as we didn't find many bigger fish like I have lately. Numbers were even tough up until about 11am when it really started to turn on. Within the first 15 minutes around 6:45 we were both doubled up a few times on topwater. After the morning lull, we caught fish on swimbaits and tubes. Conor had one over 3# at the boat and went to swing it in before I could get there with the net.......you can guess what happened next Back out Saturday and Sunday for back to back guide trips.
  20. He actually hit me up on Instagram, possibly jokingly, asking me if I could guide him on Perry smallmouth. Lol
  21. Can't say any of us have seen a brown fish from Perry besides Clayton in a good long while.
