  1. There's no fish in LaCygne
  2. Do it! Just do the right thing and never make payments on a boat
  3. Agreed. Find a compression tester if you can. You never want to get into a motor that needs more work than what the whole rig is even worth.
  4. What is it about taking dads to new lakes and them getting their PB on the first trip? I took my dad to Melvern for his first time last October and in the first half hour of the trip he caught a 4.5# Smallie. Of course he's obsessed with Melvern now and I have yet to break the 4 mark lol. Gotta love it though!
  5. It has to do with the forum uploader for some reason. All photos I upload have to be done via my computer. 1 because they're too big straight from my phone, and 2 because most need to be rotated after the upload, even if it's vertical on my phone. Kind of a pain sometimes.
  6. I think I'm going to venture out to Melvern tomorrow with my dad. He's been itching for some brown fish (as have I). I'll make sure to post a super simple report.
  7. U.S. boatworks has always done me right. Great guys.
  8. I haven't fished Gardner except for the Thursday nighters this year and don't know much about it, but Clayton and another buddy have talked about that beach spot being Saugeye city. If the rocks are still there that would make sense.
  9. That's a deal right der.
  10. A six pack of Boulevard and high fives!
  11. I told you I'd give you a BR discount on my Clinton guide rate
  12. In other news, the walleye bite is HOT HOT HOT. Anyone wanting to fill your freezer hit me up and I'll give you the BassResource KC discount see ya Thursday.
  13. Mounting my new toy in the morning. Hopefully will get out to Lone Star tomorrow afternoon.
  14. That was awesome guys, stoked for you. NED ON THE DAM!!
  15. Can't beat Texas rigged plastic at Lone Star during the summer. Jigs, and frogs as well.
  16. Not sure what you mean...set the hook...? All that means is they're active.
  17. Where is the long wet fart noise emoji when I need it.
  18. Sorry, just not used to condescending and patronizing tones in this group of friends.
  19. Well, that's what this forum is about. Reports, pictures......reports... We've all fished Melvern for a long time. Not really unaware of any "secrets" or looking to fish "your" spots. Just like to see and hear how other people do when we fish elsewhere at the time.
  20. Sorry for the extremely late report. Conor and I hit Wolf Creek on Saturday morning in search of some brown fish. Took a gander at the outlet and the water temp was 91, so we made the run down to the rip rap past the island. Got bit shortly after arrival on a War Eagle. Had one more better fish nip me halfway back to the boat and missed him. We were marking a ton of suspended fish in about 20-25' of water where we were sitting, so Conor let his spinnerbait drift back a ways behind the boat and strolled it along. He got slammed, and broke off after a short tug on what we think was probably an angry Wiper. Would have liked to see that fish, but not long after he got bit again, this time it ended up being a 17.5" Walter. Super good fish. We got bored with the rip rap and decided to target some of those suspended fish by trolling cranks, because by this time the wind had picked up immensely and we knew we didnt have much longer before we got called off. Ended up going through a school(s) of slab Crappie that wanted nothing more than my giant 6XD. We boated 4 Crappie, nothing under 13 and the biggest being 15'. After the school had moved we decided to make a run to the wood, but by this time the mainlake was awful. Halfway back we heard the walkie go off and we were done. And sufficiently soaked. Since we both had time left, we decided to stop by Melvern to see what it looked like.....and wow. Only a foot or so of the rock jettys at the marina were above water. The marina cove in the back looked like the Lousiana bayous. The mainlake again was too rough for a run, so we fished where we could by the campgrounds. I got bit twice on the Ned, landed one, which seemed to come off of the campground itself. Conor and I joked that the fish were holding tight to the grills. Good day to be out and hit both lakes, even though Melvern was....quite less than desirable. It will be a while before that recovers.
  21. Although LaCygne is the only lake we will consistenty not be at in the rotation, I still think there should be a Curt's Pet Kitties bonus.
  22. Trimming the motor with my rod is SOP haha.
  23. I like my 20s crispy bro.
  24. Lol. Really it's just to show how well the lake is doing despite the weed kill and chocolate milk water. Temps were around 64-67, and the fish aren't hard to find. DJ's 4.1 didn't have any spawn signs, but my 3.2 still had marks all over her tail as if she'd been on a bed. I caught another just under 3 last Friday that had the same marks. The one with the Beaver in her mouth had a crayfish down her gullet. There are good fish to be had and I'm sure everyone will find them!
