  1. Man me too Coty. I might try and get out to Lone Star for an evening or two this week if I can get out of here by 4. SPRING!!!!!!
  2. LaCygne was awful. Not a single bite was had. However, one of my buddies fishing the tournament hooked into a massive Blue Cat in 5 foot of water on a jerkbait. He fought it for close to 15-20 minutes before they had it boatside, and his partner couldn't get it in the net. The line broke just as it slipped out of both of their reaches. I got a pretty good video of it that's on Facebook. That was the highlight for sure. Got out to Lone Star this morning. There was still ice in all of the coves, so I fished just about every bank + the dam. Fished jerkbaits the whole time, Not a thing. Left at about 12:30 just as Clayton showed up. It looks like he did fairly decent. I knew I should have just stayed and waited for the water to warm up a little bit. I went to Clinton and busted some ice for Crappie. Ended up with ten keepers. Amazing day to be out in this weather though.
  3. I'm hungry for open water. We're going to try and get bit amongst all the Backlashers, and if all else fails, sit on the bridge and fill the livewell with Crappie. Should be a nice day.
  4. I could honestly care less if LaCygne will be crowded at this point. I need to be on the water so badly.
  5. I took a gander. Nice fish Clayton.
  6. Well, just read in the paper this morning that the time has finally come for Wolf Creek to shut down...for 52 days...starting Saturday.
  7. I didn't even know he could spell ice cream!
  8. Late report from Wolf Creek on Saturday. It's always hard to follow up Clayton's trips, lol. We got out a bit later than usual, which was probably for the best, considering when we showed up they weren't letting anyone on due to the heavy fog. There wasn't a stitch of wind either. So instead of sitting around at the ramp, we killed time and drove up to Melvern to take a peek. Frozen solid. Drove back down 75 to Wolf and got a phone call from the check in guys letting us know we could launch, which was about 10am. With no wind at all until about 11:30, it was the calmest I've ever seen it. Which was nice, and didn't affect the fishing much. Made rounds up and down the rip rap, which produced about 12 fish when all was said and done. Nothing from the clay side. Nothing in the trees either. Couldn't get bit on anything but a jerkbait (I wasn't complaining). With the high skies, Pro Blue was the ticket. Had a Channel Cat break my heart thinking it was a big Smallie. No Brownies unfortunately, but 3/4 of the Largemouth we caught were really dark-until they were in the boat we definitely thought those were smallies too. Had two really good ones come unbuttoned after making hard charges under the boat. Nothing too exciting to brag about, but it was a gorgeous day to get out amongst this winter wonderland we're in right now. March can't come soon enough.
  9. So I'll have to get this handled before we hit LOZ and Stockton in April, yeah?
  10. Clayton's recent Facebook posts have swayed me into making a Wolf Creek appearance tomorrow morning. Anyone else getting out?
  11. I just ordered some last night
  12. Holy nice Smallie Clayton! Ugh. I cannot wait for Melvern.
  13. I know I know...couldn't resist.
  14. Well, looks like my new electronics work! Played a little hooky yesterday and took advantage of the deep Crappie bite at Clinton. Fish were holding tight to the channel breaks in about 22-30 fow. Definitely had to chase the schools around. Each bite window lasted about 20 minutes, with several doubles (kind of a cluster running two rods). Had a lot of fun!
  15. Done deal! Really pleased with how it turned out. My dad added his own touch to the ram mount and covered the bottom bracket with matching vinyl on the counsel. Adds a little more shock absorption, and aesthetically pleasing. Moved my old Humminbird to the front. Didn't have time to get out and test it today, but I'm super stoked to get to play with it all day tomorrow.
  16. I literally just got my Echomap 73dv yesterday and am installing it this morning. Garmin can now say that they have the clearest down scan in the industry, and their LakeVu HD maps are bar none the best maps out, with over 5700 inland lakes with 1' contours. It didn't take much to sell me oh it, especially being local. I'll have more later after I install and break it in!
  17. How about the forecast for this weekend eh? I'll be installing my new Garmin unit tomorrow morning, and then trying to get in as much water time as possible. Who else is getting out?
  18. Couldn't make it up last night, are the Thursday nighters a go?
  19. CONOR. NOW IS THE TIME FOR OUR MERCER IMPRESSION GOPRO SHOW.
  20. Dude not even. Lol. More like 3
  21. We were all flying around the lake when we fished the Thursday nighter last summer.
  22. So...didn't think I was going to get out yesterday, but by noon I was done with work and went anyway. Clinton is ice-free and wide open, but it was way too rough, so I continued south to Lone Star (which is also wide open as well). Roughest I've ever seen the main lake at LS. Got out and was checked by a CO before I even started the motor. First time since 2013 actually, lol. Ran across the lake to the southeast arm, and to my surprise ol' Mr. Kehde was pulling out. Good to see him out there. Which by the way, Clayton, when he talks about fishing a "shallow mud flat" in his blog at LS, he's definitely talking about that cove, not the homes cove. It was way too shallow for me so I bailed and fished the windblown steep bank to the right of the dam. Stayed out in about 18 feet of water getting my jerk on. Pro Blue KVD was the ticket. Had a window between 3:15-3:45 and boated 6 Lone Star Specials off the same bank in a few passes. Nothing to brag about, but it was fun raising fish deep on a jerkbait in 38 degree water. They were shorts but they are definitely eating, fat little turds. Couldn't pass up the day and glad I got out.
