  1. Good to know - TW has it listed at 1oz. I have a MF that I throw topwater and jigs on I might try to throw it on that although its only rated to 3/4oz. Or I could use my heavier cranking rod a MH rated to 1oz.
  2. On the Roland Martin show they were straight whacking them with one. I'd like to get the size 30 myself as I have yet to invest in a swimbait combo. Should be a great bait - hope you get some fatties on it.
  3. Jeez @A-Jay this post was like 7hrs old before you replied, getting sloppy... Weight is certainly an issue I don't think I accounted for enough. Although it does look pretty stable. I'd still be weary with one of my boys. Valid point about 'sea legs'. SO MUCH TO THINK ABOUT....
  4. @Fishing Rhino I was hoping you would also chime in. Can I ask the make/model of your canoe? You said it weighs about 90lbs - what is the length?
  5. More often than once a year - speaking of deep cleaning?
  6. @Goose52 was right in thinking the canoe aspect in that (as my 4yr told me Sunday night while watching the game, that I should play football since my belly is big), in getting exercise. Fishing and paddling/exercise is a win win. While I love the pond boat idea and maybe in a few years that will work. As I really think that I am a few years away from on the water fishing with the oldest (4). He does love to fish but the bank works for now. I might look at the sit on top kayak and see what that has to offer. Great suggestions and input love this site!
  7. Thanks Goose, very informative post. Since both you and BB seem to think a regular canoe like the one I posted has stability issues then especially since I want be bring a kid - might not be the way to go. Safety is the most important aspect if the kids were to come along. I have a 1500 short bed that I am hoping I could use to transport it around in. There is a lake about 2-250 acres that I really like to bank fish from and a canoe/kayak would be perfect for (no gas powered engines). Don't worry, many more questions will come! PS - Thinking of grabbing a Met DC XG - any fianl thoughts now that you have had yours for a full season now. Use - T-Rig & Jigs 3/8oz and under.
  8. Thanks Justin. I originally wanted a sit on top Kayak, but kind of want something that I can bring a kid along with. But maybe its they way to go. Like I said I am very early in this decision making process and those fairly important questions came up. That worries me about the stability issue with the kids, however, I feel like A-Jay runs marathons in his??? PS - Shipping today.
  9. So I am in the VERY early stages of possibly getting a Canoe to fish out of. Few questions: I want to be able to take my 2 sons (when old enough) out with me. I'm thinking one at a time. What is the heaviest or longest Canoe you think that 1 person can paddle by themselves? To many factors? It's been a while since I've been in a Canoe - are they stable enough to fish standing up in? I'm sure how rough the water is plays into this. I am looking at something like this: http://www.cabelas.com/product/boating/canoes-kayaks-small-boats/canoes-kayaks%7C/pc/104794380/c/104710680/sc/104252580/old-town-guide-147-green-canoe/1992819.uts?destination=%2Fcatalog%2Fbrowse%2Fcanoes-kayaks%2F_%2FN-1100570%2B4294388331%2FNe-4294388331%3FWTz_st%3DGuidedNav%26WTz_stype%3DGNU Thanks!
  10. It's either this or the Met DC for me. Waiting to hear more details. Will be used for t-rigs and jigs under 3/8oz.
  11. Bait monkey says to get one of each and go from there.
  12. @A-Jay, I've been looking to add this exact spinnerbait or the War Eagle Screaming Eagle to my bag o tricks. I was leaning towards the Screaming Eagle simply for the fact that the 1/2oz version (so says WE) has the profile of a 1/4oz bait. What is the profile of the SK like?
  13. Thanks guys, looks like I stick with the inward facing barbs.
  14. Dypsis replied to Dypsis's topic in Fishing Tackle
Well Thats not good to hear. How is the action?
  15. Pros or cons vs the two? I feel like I only see the outward facing barbs on jerkbaits, but just curious. Thanks
  16. 15lb Tatsu (I used to use 14lb Sniper, but want to try Tatsu this year) for all my jig and T-rigs unless I'm punching mats then its 55lb braid.
  17. I have 2 13 Metaniums and LOVE them. They are super smooth and just plain awesome to fish with. I am planning on getting the DC with my new combo for 1/8-1/4oz bullet weight plus plastic T-rig with the occasional 3/8oz. As well as 1/4-3/8oz arky, football, finesse, casting jigs. I think the DC will help besides the obvious wind and numb thumb as pointed out earlier, but for me skipping under overhangs and docks as well as pitching to wood (sometimes my thumb can be lazy). I'm also interested in the Met MGL, but not much information is available on that reel yet.
  18. *** posted a video on these the other day and they look pretty interesting - anyone try them? I fish in shallow water (6' or less) 90% of the time I'd say. I think the 1/8oz Oklahoma blade might work best for me. Thoughts or reviews?
  19. Man, you've been killing it on the swimbaits lately!!!
  20. Both JLS and Digitaka are not very good with communication. While I haven't personally bought from JLS I have from Digitaka and would buy from both. I do think that when you factor in shipping Digitaka is usually cheaper. Like others have said shipping is fast, its customs you have to worry about.
  21. Houston Oliers was always a favorite team name of mine.
  22. I bought one of their poppers on sale last year, I've done OK with it. I like Pop X, Zell Pop, and a few other more. I did buy a all white spinnerbait this summer and have done well on it. Matt
  23. Not too many things better than a new PB, congrats man!
  24. Stillers!
  25. If you hit the inquiry button on the product and ask them they will let you know for sure. They have always responded in 24hrs to my questions.
