  1. I certainly will. I do like the size. And it’s nothing like the My Bandit or Chronarchs, but the reel is very nice. Nicer than my K reels. I’m happy with it now.. I’m over the not made in Japan that I expected. You are correct. I’m just starting to move to all Shimano reels. So I assumed a review I saw on YouTube was accurate. The SLX MGL is a nice reel. I’m glad I bought it. Tiny little bugger!
  2. You’re definitely correct, I just checked the two K reels I bought. Both have the spring. But, like my Lews reels there’s movement, unlike my Bandit MGL and Chronarch MGL reels.
  3. Ok so, I’m disappointed. These reels are not made in Japan. Although the quality is very nice but, if you look close you will see it’s not a typical MGL reel made in Japan. They install a spring on the crank shaft to hide the play between the star adjustment and the side plate of the reel. Keeping pressure between the two virtually eliminates the play like you would feel on a K reel. Am I glad I bought it? Yes, it’s a 71 size. It really does feel great in the hand and has the same ratings as most other Shimano reels bass guys look for. Now I have to get out on the water with it. I’m thinking 12# floro or 30# P-Line braid.
  4. Currently have a Hook 5”. It’s entry level. I’m going to get more into deep water bass so I definitely need to upgrade. I’m not familiar with what’s available for $1,000.00-$1,200.00 Any recommendations?
  5. That’s a great price. I have 2 Chonarch MGL reels now. A Bantam MGL and the SLX MGL was ordered yesterday from Digitaka. These made in Japan reels are outstanding in every way. Go Shimano!
  6. https://www.digitaka.com/item_navi.php#slide-main This dealer is legit. They were highly recommended. Use PayPal but use a credit or debit card for payment. Delivery is EMS so 3-5 days. Those are not authorized dealers. I won’t buy from them. Japan Reels is authorized. I’ve bought 3 reels from them. They ship overnight. They don’t sell the SLX MGL on eBay. Otherwise I would have bought from them again. This reel will be used for jig pitching and moving baits. I have other reels for bombing. My plan is 30# P-Line Braid for this reel. In fact if the quality is as good as expected I’ll buy a second one at 8 speed. This first one is 7.
  7. I hope it’s as well made as my Bantam and Chronarch MGL reels. i have two Ks that are disappointing. loose like any decent reel. Not close to MIJ MGL quality. They’re going on Ebay. 4-5 hours casting on both.
  8. You bet! Have another one arriving tomorrow.. want more MLG reels. Im even considering the SLX MGL. Has to be great for small baits of of types. Will compare it to my earlier Team Lews and Lews Mag. im not positive the SLX MLG will blow them away but I’ll tell ya.. I’d put bet money on the MLG right now!
  9. The spool May be a bit lighter and that’s fine but the entire reel is different. The machine quality and materials are so far ahead of the K and similar. There’s no comparison between the reels. MGL reels are not loose and the brakes are incredibly smooth as is the entire reel. The tolerances on the MGLs are outstanding. I’m ordering 2 more.
  10. I bought that Bantam MGL and the party started. Just bought 2 Chronachs MGLs.. one 7 and one 8. More coming as I move more of my reels. Shimano Japan has it going on guys. The reels are outstanding as many of you already know. On Another note the K isn’t at all close to the MGLs. Very nice but, The two I bought a month ago are going to be sold. One 8 and one 6. Will buy another Bantam after they sell.
  11. The XT is a very nice rod. It has the ACS reel seat. Very comfortable. Light Weight too. I have the 7' med hvy. The rod is very versatile and casts excellent.
  12. Any Shimano MGL reel, Look at specs, choose the best fit and pull the trigger,
  13. I don’t think you will be unhappy with either of them. It seems to me Dobyns is a much bigger company but that really doesn’t make a difference. They both offer the same reel seat, quality cork, guides and blanks.
  14. I searched for previous threads about this braid. I wasn’t able to find anything at all. I know it’s made in Japan, 8 strand with a DuPont coating. Similar to Power Pro I assume. Can anyone offer their experiences with this braid? 30#-65# info would be great. Wayne
  15. Ok so if your fishing shores or open water a quality braid at 30# will do perfectly. I’ve liked power pro green for years.
  16. Thanks, The reel should be here by Friday! You know where I’ll be following delivery! looking forward to feeling the difference between the Chrono and my New Bantam XG.
  17. I have braid on all my reels. I can’t stand casting mono or floro. 20-65# Are you going to use one rod and reel to get started?
  18. Ok, I just bought the hg.. 8+1 Tell me why I made a good decision!
  19. Ive searched but no luck in the forum. Please share information on the SLX MLG 70s?
  20. Looks like the Chronarch MLGs would work for me. Have to add another Bantam XG too. Probably two Chronarch HG 71s. The SLX MLG is also a possibility. I haven’t seen as much posted about them. Opinions?
  21. Just bought my first Bantam XG.. Amazing reel. I have 2 fairly new Ks I’m going to sell and a few Lews. Definitely moving over to MiJ Shimano reels.
  22. I appreciate advice from both of you. I was out fishing today.. I’m definitely comfortable with 2 off and set to 3. Ill wait for a less windy day to check different settings. Thank you both for offering your choices. I want another Bantam and 2 smaller MiJ spool reels. Not sure which to buy yet. Post suggestions.. thx!
  23. Apparently the Curado 70 isn’t made in Japan?
