I Usually have to pack it up by late September not by choice the way to school teacher and she’s back in full swing and I can’t get out in the water after work. When I do get out in September I do alright toed the end of the month just before I have to pack it up

Well it’s a good thing I have a good life insurance policy lol if someone goes of the Handel over a horn going off then yes they are crazy. I am usually nice enough to give people the benefit of the doubt that they are adult enough to realize just where they are and what they are doing no I want a nasty or mean to the people in the car. If I wanted to I would have just held my hand on the horn or done much worse but. I think he was just getting his tip wet and I really didn’t need to see that lol. No sir I would never be that guy I try to give the benefit of the doubt

I think the best one I’ve encountered was arriving at a small boat ramp to head out and a cupule of guys had there truck parked in the ramp and thay were fishing out of the bed. I didn’t have to say anything thought thay say me coming and quickly moved

It’s hard when your not having any luck especially when your time is limited to be on the water. If I can get out 1 time per week I’m doing good and if I can cut any bank fishing in before work or at lunch in still limited to the amount of time I have to trying different spots and different baits so far I’m 3 fish for 5 trips out with my boat and nothing on the banks but have faith and keep trying a bad day on the water is still better then a good day at work

Lol no no I’m not mad upset or ticked off every one is Entitled to their opinions as I stated I really didn’t want to see what they were doing me personaly would rather have someone shoot a quick honk to get my attention especially if I was getting freaky with my old lady in a boat ramp rather then mortifying my wife with a stranger knocking on the window so if you are offended by this then sorry but to be quiet honest I had to giggle a little about it

Some may say passive aggressive others may say just a little toot toot as I really didn’t want to see what they were doing in the car but sadly that’s not the only problem that I have run into at the boat ramp and have not been passive aggressive towards them I may have just sat in my truck a little annoyed but not passive aggressive If you see somebody backing down a ramp with a trailer to retrieve their boat or put their boat in would you pay walk in front of them with your kayak in hand or canoe in hand and said it down at the base of the boat ramp knowing that there was a truck with a trailer coming down to back into the water

So I’m sure there is a thread about this topic somewhere here but I can’t find it lol So the other night after a cupule hours of fishing I headed back to the ramp to load my boat on my trailer and head home but when I got to the ramp there was a older cupule blocking the ramp doin god knows what you would think that seeing me pull up the the ramp with my boat in front of them would be enough lol nope. I go get my truck and pull up to the ramp with my light son them and then give 2 short blasts with my trucks air horn and nothing. It takes me actually getting out of my truck and walking up to them for them to acknowledge that I need the ramp ( o do you need the space brother ) well what do you think ding dong lmfao what are some of the dum things you have had to deal with ?

I mostly use a motor but paddle through the heavy slop as well. I use a Garmin striker portable that i attach to the back of my 16 foot Asend DC156

I love seeing all of your Mods I wish I could see more canoe owners posting there stuff it gives me ideas on mine lol

How about trying off a canoe that is always a Funtime lol Just say it was the bilge pump lol

I don’t have a garage to store it in so I do why I must do lol

Have you ever installed a bilge pump in your canoe I just did and it’s working great have it hard wired to the trolling motor battery on auto and a battery maintainer on it this I did mostly for when I’m not on the water and it rains out I won’t have that much to bail out . In mounted it under the rear seat donuts out of the way and ran the discharge hose out over the side so far I’ve had a couple rainy days and she hasn’t filled up with water yet. I’ll insert some pics when I can

I think that jus using sand would be better then salt for the boat ramp especially if enough of the salt gets used and ending up in the water

You are correct except I didn’t want to pay the 500$ for it lol so I built one lol

You have a very nice setup and all of your points are all valid as I was considered on getting a kayak but I think I’m going to stick with my canoe an it is all set up and I do like making new modifications to it every year as this year I think I’m going to downsize my gas motor to a 3 or 2 HP and keep my 55 thrust pound trolling motor I might invest in a different style of stabilization system all thought I do like what I have right now you really can’t see it in the pic but there is a sheet of plywood between the coolers that I can stand on and cast

I will say one thing for the majority of people purchasing a canoe for fishing purposes are most likely going to put a motor on it of some type I know I did lol and there are ways of combating the hole wind thing I just haven’t figured them out yet lol

With the right modifications you can stand and do long distance in a canoe but I do I agree about the wind factor

already having the canoe and lack of space to store something larger plays a big roll in what you can have

I loving all the information keep not coming I still love my canoe and will never give it up and every year I make new modifications to it and seeing pictures of everyone’s canoes and kayak s gives me ideas

I hear you I like being able to carry all me stuff in my canoe too I usually Cary 4 rods my tackle box fish finder coolers for drinks and snacks and I have room for 2 more full size adults and all there gear

I’m not sure if this has been discussed but canoe or kayak which one is better. I’ve been fishing out of a canoe ever since I was young and I’ve been pondering on getting a kayak but I’m unsure about it . My canoe is fully loaded with a trolling motor and a small 4 HP outboard Which is too big for it but I run it carefully I built a stabilizer system using two coolers sheet of plywood and some two by fours . That system seems to work great for me but there are times that I want to go to some spots where there is no boat ramp and as you can imagine my canoe was on a trailer with all the stuff I have added to it . So I guess the question is what would you guys prefer a canoe or a kayak and what are the pros and cons of each one
