Trolling motor: 30 lb. vs. 55 lb. ?
I’ve used a 30 and a 36 pound thrust motor and I currently have a 55 on my 16 1/2 foot canoe and it moves along quite nicely loaded down with two guys and all the gear

How did most of you start?
I started off with my dads old 8 foot raddission canoe that took a lot of damage over the years. Then went to a 8 foot John boat that I go for free it had more Silicone and duct tape holding it together then aluminum with a 30 foot pound trolling motor. Now I have a 16.5 foot ascend dc156 canoe with a 55 foot pound trolling motor that I trick out a little bit more every year

What truck floats the best? (Truck in the water)
It’s never good to see that if you take the time to walk down the boat ramp first you might be able to anticipate a problem such as that happening I think that if you are smart enough you might think to bring a tow strap or change and find a spot to attach your truck to it with enough slack to be able to launch your boat and that way of your truck starts sliding down the ramp the strap or change will stop your truck from taking a swim

towing boat in pickup truck bed
I tow my canoe it’s a 16.5 assend square back I have it loaded with everything and it is much easer then trying to lift it into the bed or o. Top of my truck if I’m going somewhere where I cans launch it off the trailer I have a smaller pack Canoe that old as that come but light enough to toss in the bed and carry to the water

Downsizing the rig’s tow vehicle
Just my 2 cents I am a certified master technician and I get to fix them all what you buy should all depend on what you like I see more problems with fords and dodges then I do with chevys and GMC with that being sed if you are going to purchase a new truck. You need to drive them and see what one feels better for you I have a 2013 GMC 2500HD with a 6.0 under the hood I use it for work I plow with it and tow my little boat with it I also tow car trailers from time to time and I know for a fact that I have exceeded the towing capacity for the truck . If you use your truck for more Then just towing a boat then getting a 3/4 ton if a good idea but if you are only using it for going fishing then 1/2 ton will do fine

Canoe recommendation
I have a 16.5 foot ascend dc156 I love it it can hold me and 2 of my buddies and all our gear . I have it on a trailer so it’s easier to launch . You can go in places where the big boats can’t and it’s easier to put a motor on it then a kayak even though some of those fishing ones look pretty snazzy

How do boat fishermen really feel about kayak anglers?
I to fish in a canoe and I launch it with the help of a boat trailer I’m quick to unload and quick to load as I get her ready to go out or to go home in the parking lot I have seen way to many fart nockers hog the ramp and thay are usually to Pleasureboaters as far as respect in the water I have had no problems with other fishermen on water mainly because I like to get in to the spots that thay can’t ?
