  1. DVT has great points as always..... Be careful in your guide selection to avoid interference between the line and the blank.....
  2. My own custom painted cranks!!!!!
  3. They did. Thanks for the direction!!!
  4. They did. Thanks for the direction!!!
  5. I have spent the past week trying to get the rapala demon color. How do you go about trying to match colors? I realize (now) that with an airbrush you can later Transparents, mix opaques etc..... But.... This is somewhat challenging.... If you've figured that color out, please share.....
  6. I have built the mhx sj 783 and 843. Both awesome. I use the 783 for skipping and the 843 for unweighted senkos and plastics. If your concerned about weight, go for the fuji alconites, which are the lightest in their line. The mhx power ratings seem to be right on for their blanks. Also remember, they are judged by their blank performance. If they rate it too close to the true failure, then they'll be dealing with a bunch of failed blanks, they lose their reputation and out of business they go. All blank manufacturers suffer from these challenges. I think either of the blanks you've selected will do you good. (Full disclosure, I've been using mhx for 5 years now and haven't had a failure and fish 15+ tourneys a year ...)
  7. Very cool to be able to walk around and find stuff like that.... Very Cool.....
  8. Thanks for the replies, right now I'm just repainting old baits, not building, but will remember that order when I do start that. After several lures, I found that I could free hand the air brush, I also (after several adventures) got to be able to do the epoxy without masking.... Again. Thanks!!!
  9. I prefer suffix tri+ for all my treble lures. very sensitive with enough stretch to work with the rod and prevent pull offs..... Ties great knots. I love the abrasion resistance, I can usually get 2-3 tournaments out of it..
  10. When y'all put the epoxy on your lures, what tape do you use to keep it from building up on the edge of the lip, or do you put it on so lightly it's not a problem???
  11. Same for the mhx blanks. If you're near Winston Salem, the ICRBE ( international custom rod builders exposition) show is February 21-22. You can but blanks from all manufacturers, as well as the parts. Best way to save shipping $$$ and you get to fondle the blanks as you make your choices.
  12. Try a plastic knife... Water and soap.
  13. I wouldn't do an guide under wrap on a fresh water rod. That's wasted weight. Now on a heavy duty rod (50lb line and up) I would definitely do an under wrap.
  14. Was at Hatteras, saw an 8'+ thresher cross the bar and pig out on some 35+lb drum.....
  15. My gen3 stx or gen 1 stx has no problem 75-100' with unweighted senko. This is on a MHX hm-mb843, and on my regular mb843...(7', fast action) The rod does more for distance then your reel. If you got to set your reel on the ragged edge to get the distance you want, you're gonna have a miserable time picking professional overruns out....
  16. Nope, outta that list I'd go stradics... Helluva reel...
  17. We carry mountain dew, all gut hooked fish get a healthy swallow. I've been told the citric acid and the caffeine help the fish recover....
  18. The ci4 only comes with one spool. The older stradics (I have 3 fh models) came with a spare spool. That's very handy as you can use one reel for multiple techniques. Have one spool with mono or flouro for drop shoting etc.. And one with braid for soft plastics.... You do need to check I thought I heard that the new stradics didn't come with the spare spool...
  19. I guess I am doing something right, the only diawa I own are the sealine sl-sh models. My ABU's have never let me down....
  20. MHX cb843 with gen 2 revo stx MHX cb845 with revo sx All star 7'3" with revo sx for deep cranking
  21. A natural texas rigged senko fished weightless, tossed right where the water stands up, let it drift until a hit, or after it stops drifting on the current, do over.....
  22. Very cool... It looks like the Ds blanks have essentially the same action as the sb blanks.. So.... An MHX-hm-DS822 is headed for my building table....
  23. If you've ever tried distance surf casting you will have seen some beauties... I carry a razor blade in the tackle box and spare line in the truck....
