Transporting Rods On Vehicles
Best answer... Get a Tahoe or suburban and build a strap system that hangs the rods. You would be amazed at the amount of fine grit tossed up on the roads that flat pack reels and screw up the finish on your equipment.

Opinions Please
It's like NASCAR.... New era (KVD, Ike etc) or old era (Parker, Martin, Mann, Dance)... Could KVD have been this dominant without the technology he had today??? Good question....

Fishing Off The Front Of The Boat
In the back I change baits more often and can focus on fishing, not boat control. I started doing surf fishing so when I build a rod I still look for max distance with my set ups. This pays off dock fishing.. Many fish at caught off the back corners while the front is fishing the end of the pier....

Gonna Start Building My Own Rods This Winter, Got Some Questions.
Just remember this: There are no 12 step programs for rod builders. Once you fish your first creation.... Well, I'll be building another this winter.... Good thing I have multiple storage places. If the bride saw them all at once.... Whew...

Advice On New Trolling Motor
I use the 12v, ,55 lb I pilot motor and love it. I spend significantly less physical and mental energy on controlling the boat It has seriously helped my fishing as i can focus on bait placement. Not boat control.

Anyone Ever Bass Fish At Northwest River Park Lake?
Tannic water... Black/blue....jigs. Truck worms. Whacky rigs. Texas rig weightless with trick worms... Tough place to fish.... The river is worse.... Catchemall!!

Smith Mountain Lake
I've got a tournament there in mid October. We launch down by the dam. My boat has a top speed of 30, so going long distances really isn't an option. My first thought would be forget about green bass, and target bronze backs. I've only fished there once. With that said, any input on colors and strategies would be appreciated. Thanks... Catchemall!!!

Rod Selection: The Basics
Different companies label their rods differently. MHX uses this concept CB843= CB means crank bait action, most of the bend is toward the middle so the rod gives when the fish inhales the lure 84 means 84"- 7' rod 3 means 3 power, but their chart gives you the actual weight rating. Lamiglas, alstar and Loomis use the same method. The best tip I can give anyone is to build your own. You can get the parts and spend $75-and have a custom that many would drop $2-300 for. Check out rodbuilder.org or Google Tom Kirkman.... They hold a show in mid NC each February. The more you know about the rods, the better decisions you can make. Catchemall!!!

Microguides
If you use a bite leader and fish grass, or if you ain't afraid to fish those tournaments when the temps are on the teens (or lower, one tourney this winter it was 9° at launch) then the micro guides become Problem. Also, if it's not a Fuji product I on't put it on my rods.
