  1. Myself and a friend are in Conroe fishing a tournament and wanted to go hammer some pond fish on our day off tomorrow. We're from Montana and we're wondering if anyone could point us towards some in good neighborhoods? Not looking for your honey hole, just a good community spot. Thanks!
  2. Montana B.A.S.S. Nation returned to Fort Peck for the first time in a decade, and it showed off big time! It took nearly 26 pounds a day to win, with big fish going 7.42 pounds! I finished third, broke my PB smallie with a 5.96, and qualified for the B.A.S.S. Nation Western Championship for my 4th consecutive season. If you ever get the chance to go here, I cannot recommend it enough!
  3. The hot dry year has made for one of the best Topwater seasons of my entire life! Girlfriend has only been bass fishing 3 times ever and already has a PB of 3 pounds. Probably gonna start whooping on me soon
  4. A small lake that doesn't allow boats was absolutely on fire this weekend! Never put the topwater down and it was the best bite I've had all year for Largemouth
  5. Let's get you out here and we can go wreck some big bronzies!
  6. Just got back from a tournament Sunday on Lake X in Eastern Montana. Won our ABA with a one day weight of 26.72.......I can't wait to go back! Big fish was 6.23 We have a Montana B.A.S.S. Nation State Qualifier there in September
  7. Looking for some opinions from individuals who've been actively involved in successful fishing clubs. So in Montana we have two primary grassroots tournament trails here that lead out into either B.A.S.S. or TBF/FLW. I fish with both, because I have 2 separate opportunities to make state teams each year and then move on to larger tournaments from there. Our problem lies with bad blood over the original split of the B.A.S.S. and TBF back whenever that was, which I'm not sure if this was a big deal anywhere else, but it was very derisive here between the clubs, and there's still some animosity carried from it that has led to some weird tribalism between the two organizations. The problem now, is we have clubs that are vying for the same water and same tournament dates, that don't communicate at all, but there's still individuals that double dip and occupy important/officer roles for each organization here, but seem to favor one more than the other and don't advocate for cohabitation on these issues. To me, this seems like a conflict of interest and decreases the likelihood of clubs communicating. So do you think it would be better to make it that you only can occupy an important role (I.E Tournament Director, President, Conservation Director, etc.) for one organization or the other? Curious to hear your thoughts. Thanks!
  8. Fished our Montana B.A.S.S. Nation Spring Open and weighed my new tournament PB 5.59! Fishing was wet but absolutely spectacular. Managed to finish 11th out of 30 teams. Bottom photo is a friend who missed the state record by ounces on Sunday with an 8.26 giant!!!
  9. A question for all of you tin guys. I'm looking to eventually upgrade beyond my starter boat, which is amazing, but I will move beyond it here so as I transition to the front of the boat for tournaments. I currently have a 17 ft Aluminum All-weld Rhino hull made by James River Jets. I can tow this wonderfully with my V6 Honda Pilot. But I'm looking to move to a 19 ft Xpress, Cresliner, or Vexus in the next 2-3 years. My car is rated for towing up to 6,000 pounds. If I'm not towing fiberglass and just stick with tin rigs, would I be able to get away with this, or do I need to buy a truck before I can get a new boat?
  10. I'm right there with ya! Makes living in the North downright miserable in the winter.
  11. You live in the middle of some of the best ice fishing on the planet though.......not big fan of the hardwater either?
  12. It is absolute torture watching you guys smack smallies and white bass all day everyday! But nice work!
  13. Thanks for the recommendation!
  14. With most of the water frozen and the rivers mainly unnavigable, I took my annual trip to my secret warm springs (not actually a secret) It's not much, but it keeps the cabin fever at bay since I can't manage to be interested by ice fishing.
  15. I need to finally learn to fish jigs this year. My early season success depends on it!
  16. I thought this meme was brilliant, but I got snubbed on FB
  17. Matt Allen is an amazing example (north cali or not) that trophy fisherman exist and can prove it legitimately. He will soon completely replace and eclipse Mike Long in the fishing industry. His and Tim's channel has already enlightened and inspired thousands!
  18. This guy is all about ego and reputation. Now that his is ruined, I highly doubt we'll hear from him ever again.
  19. This guy is the Lance Armstrong of bass fishing.....but worse. I just watched watched all of sdfish.com's video. Absolutely broke my heart.
  20. I remember you telling me about this. Still sounds horrible!!!
  21. I actually ended up with a similar or perhaps identical Plano bag! Did you get the weekender series? I love it so far, I have the 4 3700 size boxes, then a smaller one for a terminal tackle in the front pouch. Left side pouch holds all of my line, right size pound holds scale, cull tags, plyers, etc. Super happy with it!
  22. Thanks! If it doesn't mean buying a part worth more than a new reel then I'll be a happy guy!
  23. I was fishing a tournament this weekend, and I started to notice my Curado was all of sudden making these wicked bombing casts of like 50-60 yards, and every 3rd cast or so it would back lash severely. I hadn't changed anything, but never-the-less decided to tighten down the spool tension and engage another magnet. To my amazement it continued to get progressively worse no matter how much I cranked down the spool adjustment and magnets on this thing. Come to find out, after 10 glorious years, the magnets appear to be failing, and I'm in need of a replacement for my favorite reel of all time. Does anyone who has fished with these incredible machines have recommendations for a similar reel that casts light lures well? I'd prefer to stay with Shimano, but I'm open to alternative suggestions as well. Not looking to spend more than $200.
