  1. I got a set from the JC Whitney catalog years ago. Boaters world or West marine should have them as well. Not a hard job to do at all. Good Luck, Tom D.
  2. Also if you have a Lowrance or Eagle finder go to their sites and download the model demo. They are fully functional on your PC so you can play at home instead of on the water. Good luck with the new units, Tom D.
  3. If you are going to put ply over the old why not remove the old and just have the new ply. I would use 3/4 inch ply to fix it. Cut it to shape seal it with something then screw it down in the boat. The old deck is probably screwed to the boat. Good Luck, Tom D.
  4. Cajun and jigman a right. I usually start by winding the thread around the hook then place the skirt material and continue to wrap. Do a Google search on fly tying and you will get the gist of what they are describing. Sounds harder then it really is. Good luck, Tom D.
  5. I find the carpet at loews to be better then the home depot stuff. All carpet will snag. You are not working on a 50,000 dollar Ranger so why worry. I have replaced the carpet in my once in 22 years no big deal. Find a color you like and go for it. Plus you won't get as upset when some one spills something on your 50 dollar carpet as you will when they spill it on the 150 dollar carpet. Good Luck, TomD
  6. See if you can find any of the old episodes of SHIP SHAPE TV on line they did tons of episodes on painting fiberglass boats. John Griviscas was the guys name I believe don't trust my spelling on that. TomD
  7. Your big issue is going to be the heating and cooling of this stuff. Most of it is dark in color which will make it hot. Then you put the boat in the cool lake water. I see this stuff peeling off pretty quick. Why not put a small deck in the boat with some carpet. Or put down a cusioned pad and carpet. I would check the flooring section of the home improvment store before I sprayed anything in the boat that will be a pain to remove later. Good Luck, TomD
  8. When I kept freshwater fish that little stunt there would have cost me a new tank lid. The little bass I had in the tank was crazy. He would have tried to eat both those jigs at the same time and then proceeded to destroy his tank. That fish broke more tank lids triing to catch the crickets that are in the basement then any other fish I have ever owned. I finnally had to release him back into the wild. TD
  9. Looks good keep up the good work, soon you will be tying the 24 size trout flies. I don't think I can even see hooks that small anymore but it was fun back in the day. TD
  10. try one of these. http://www.basspro.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/Product_10151_-1_10001_387_200001006_200000000_200001000_200-1-6
  11. BigM, Do you use split rings for the line ties or do you tie directly to the front of the bait? Thanks, Tom D.
  12. The green and white deep diver is awsome. So are your other baits but that one i know would catch them on the lakes i fish. Thanks for posting all your hard work. Tom D.
  13. good deal now go to their web site and download the simulator so you can learn your new unit in the comfort of your home instead of on the water. Good luck with it, Tom D.
  14. LBH, I believe Minn Kota makes a mount for bowmounts that alow the motor to be removed from the boat for storage. A friend has one on his boat and it does not look to bad and holds up quite well to daily abuse. He fishes saltwater with his boat. TD
  15. I have the 320 and love the unit. TD
  16. rad, You are going to want to manually set your sensitivity to get the best results. Follow this link for an article by Lowrance on how depth finders work. It should help you better understand your unit and how and why you want to set it certain ways. http://primus.lowrance.com/support/resultDisplay.do?gotoLink=22&docType=1000&contextId=324%3A22.47%2C11918.11930%2C12069.12125&clusterName=ClusterPublic〈=english&docset=%2FDocuments%2FSonar&contentId=ecc9a823-188c-45d7-90f2-56d9229ea539&responseId=135ccbe2cfd4f608%3Adcb03b%3A116d7497589%3A7838&groupId=4&answerGroup=1&score=980&page=http%3A%2F%2Fprimus.lowrance.com%2Ficr%2FSonar%2FChart+Tutorial.htm&result=0&excerpt=Deciphering+Sonar+Charts.&question=Deciphering+Sonar+Charts&resultType=5000#Goto22 Good Luck, Tom D
  17. Sounds like you got youself a pretty good boat there then. I don't see why a Minn Kota motor would not work for you.
  18. Does the sea Eagle have hard floors? Batteries are very heavy and could pose an issue in a small inflatable boat. Any of the minn kota series that still work should be good for your use. And yes you can use the Sears charger it just may not be the best option. I use a charger that is older then I am to charge my batteries. It is fully manual but with some practice does the job well. Good Luck, Tom D.
  19. From the manual Power Connections The unit works from a 12-volt battery system. For the best results, attach the power cable directly to the battery. You can attach the power cable to an accessory or power buss, however you may have problems with electrical interference. Therefore, it's safer to go ahead and attach the power cable directly to the battery. CAUTION: When using the unit in a saltwater environment, we strongly recommend that you shut off the power supply to the power cable when the unit is not in use. When the unit is turned off but still connected to a power supply, electrolysis can occur in the power cable plug. This may result in corrosion of the plug body along with the electrical contacts in the cable and the unit's power socket. In saltwater environments we recommend you connect the power cable to the auxiliary power switch included in most boat designs. If that results in electrical interference, or if such a switch is not available, we recommend connecting direct to the battery and installing an inline switch. This will let you shut off power to the power cable when the unit is not in use. When you are not using the unit, you should always shut off power to the power cable, especially when the power cable is disconnected from the unit. If possible, keep the power cable away from other boat wiring, especially the engine's wires. This will provide the best isolation from electrical noise. If the cable is not long enough, splice #18 gauge wire onto it. The power cable has two wires, red and black. Red is the positive 24 lead, black is negative or ground. Make sure to attach the in-line fuse holder to the red lead as close to the power source as possible. For example, if you have to extend the power cable to the battery or power buss, attach one end of the fuse holder directly to the battery or power buss. This will protect both the unit and the power cable in the event of a short. It uses a 3-amp fuse. Power connections for the sonar unit. CAUTION: Do not use this product without a 3-amp fuse wired into the power cable! Failure to use a 3-amp fuse will void your warranty. This unit has reverse polarity protection. No damage will occur if the power wires are reversed. However, the unit will not work until the wires are attached correctly. An optional 8-foot, CA-4 external power cable with a cigarette lighter adapter is available from Lowrance. Sounds like you may have a generic cable not the one specific for your unit. Try red and black and tape off the others. Tom D
  20. The small wires are to hook your unit to other devices like a gps or radar. You should only need to hook up the larger power wires. Black is usually Negative and Red positive. Try that and leave the white alone. If that does not get you power you may need the white hooked to positve. I can't believe the manual does not diagram this out. Are you certain you have the correct harness for this unit? Good Luck, TomD.
  21. go rent a media blaster and get it done.
  22. Maybe a floor but not a deck. It would be way to unstable. I would go with the bigger boat. Also a flat bottom Jon is going to be way more stable on the lake. tomD
  23. Also check to be certain your transducer wire is not run along any power cables in the boat. They can and will pickup interference from them.
  24. Do what bassboy says carry it on the roof. You don't want someone talking on the phone and applying makeup to hit the thing and wreck your weekend. TD
