JET DRIVE CONVERSION FROM PROP
Steve it may be cost prohibitive is that even a word. I know most of the jet drive i have seen use much larger power heads then they are rated. A 40hp jet would have a 75-80hp power head. So if you can find a lower unit that would fit you would end up with about a 25 hp motor. Good Luck, TD

2 Trolling motors on one battery?
I run 3 motors and one depth finder off of 1 12 volt battery bank. Now the battery bank consists of 4 145 amp hour 6 volt batteries. I hook two six volts in series to get 12 volts then hook the 2 twelve volts in parrellel to get one big 12 volt bank. I run all day with hardly any discharge on the batteries. I have two 50lb minn kotas and a 22 lb mariner I run all day.

How long is too long keeping a bass out of water?
Guys, I am no Marine Biologist believe me but repetedly putting the fish in the water and removing them stresses them a great deal. If they are hooked that bad take your side cutters and cut the hook to remove it. Hooks are cheap. Get the fish back in the water ASAP. And as the above mentioned swim them in a circular motion if you do need to revive them. Also remember to correctly hold your fish. Do not try and hold the bass horizontal by its mouth. You can and will break it's jaw. If you are going to hold a bass horizontal for a picture be certain t support it. Good luck out there and be safe. TD

This disgusts me...
I don't have a problem with the spearing of any of the fish if they are legal game. Spear fishing can be a lot more selective then rod and reel. I can choose what I shoot and what I don't. Rod and reel I can not choose the fish that bites the line. Also how many bass fishermen here have skin mounts on their walls? I don't I will not kill a bass to have a trophy on the wall but I don't mind if you do. Around the areas I fish many fishermen will throw pickerel on the bank because they find them a nusence fish. I take more offence to this then 1400 lbs of dead carp. I am pretty certain they are with in the legal limits for their state if not forward the web site to the states DNR. How mant fisherman fill coolers with crappies each year to fertilize their gardens. As long as the rules are followed to each his own. From Utah DNR Underwater spearfishing Utah Admin. Code R657-13-9 You can underwater spearfish for game fish at Causey, Deer Creek, Fish Lake, Flaming Gorge, Joe's Valley, Ken's Lake, Lake Powell, Lost Creek, Red Fleet, Steinaker, Starvation and Willard Bay reservoirs from June 1 through September 30, 2007. These are the only waters in Utah where underwater spearfishing for game fish is allowed. Nongame fish also may be taken by spearfishing in these waters and as provided in the Taking Nongame Fish section of this guide (please see page 11). The underwater spearfishing bag and possession limit is two game fish. No more than one of those fish can be longer than 20 inches unless you're fishing at Flaming Gorge Reservoir, where you can take one lake trout (mackinaw) longer than 28 inches. Please see the Rules for Specific Waters section of this guide for more exceptions to these general underwater spearfishing rules. In addition, you can underwater spearfish for carp and striped bass at Lake Powell year round. Please see the Rules for Specific Waters, Lake Powell section of this guide for more information. You may underwater spearfish from official sunrise to official sunset. You may not use artificial light to underwater spearfish. You can underwater spearfish for carp in any water that has an open fishing season. You may not underwater spearfish for carp if the fishing season at that water is closed, however. Catch & release or keep?
I have no problem with either point of view. I release most bass I catch, but have no problem with someone that wants to keep a legally caught fish. Now tuna fish watch out I will keep any legal ones I can. I however have a problem with all the people that keep the 5+ bass to have them weight in the throw the fish in the dumpster. Kill to get a citation is crazy in my book. Killing to get a wall mount is crazy, when most taxidermists can do a fiberglass replica with some good pictures and measurements. TD

Thank You.....
My first trip out this year some of the trees near shore looked like they were decorated for Christmas. All the multi colored bobbers and lures in them. I guess the water was still to cold for the shore guys to go in and get them back. One tree had 18 different floats in it. Good Hunting Guys, TD

Molding jigs....
Check around I know when I started i got a kit that had the mold, melting pot, hooks, and weed guards included in the kit. I think it may have cost about $40. You will still need paint and skirt materials. Starting out you wont need the powder paints and all that. I use testors model paint then coat the baits with epoxy. Read that as very cheap and easy. Good Luck TD

Leaky boat + Herculiner ?
Should work just fine. I would however paint it on the inside not the outside of the hull. Now I know your jon boat won't be setting any speed records but you really should try to keep the bottom of the boat as smooth as possible. Plus the liner will give you a nice cusion and sound absorber on the floor of the boat. good luck, TD

Jon Boat Questions
Frank, Alot depends on where you live. Around here in Maryland the min legth for a boat on the Res is 12' you may want to check in your area to find if there are any rules as to size. TD

Bilge Pump Discharge
Mike, You may also want to get a plug that will fit the discharge hole so that if your pump fails you can plug the hole so no water can come in. TD
-
Bilge Pump Discharge
You may want to reconsider the back flow valve. It will most likley put alot of strain on your pump. The loop in the hose would be the better solution if it is possible. Was this pump installed by the factory or aftermarket? Good Luck, TD

He's a pro now!
That's pretty cool taking your kid with you. My son is just now getting into the fishing thing. This is the first year I took him on the boat. He is already starting to outfish me. I really believe it is thier attitude towards fishing that makes them so good. They choose the bait by what they like. They don't try and match the hatch or any patterns, just pick and cast. These are the best years of thier lives so enjoy them now. TD

Interlux paint, spray on or roll on?
I believe it is call rolling and tipping. You roll the paint on in small sections then go over it with the tip of a paint brush. Google it you should find a ton of info. TD

boat leaks
Thanks Katt i could not come up with the name of the tools. Resetting them is probably the best option. TD

boat leaks
If you can reach the rivit from the inside and out you can repound them to fix the seal problems. You may need a friend to hold theinside while you hammer the outside. You may be able to google search rivits to find out if you need a special tool for the job. Good luck, TD

How to Powder Coat used reels
Mike, Another option you may want to consider is a gun blueing kit. Not real sure how they work but I believe it is a type of metal dye. May want to call the local gun shop. Tom D.

Trolling motor change
Simple answer Yes. Remove the bolt under the top of the motor, carefully turn top 180 degrees reinsert bolt. ALL done. Be careful not to over twist the wires. Tom D.

How to Powder Coat used reels
Try contacting a local motorcycle shop they may know someone that can do custom powder coating. An automotive shop may know as well. The powder coat for lure will probably be to thick for the reels. You will have to be certain to plug all the screw holes and such so they don't fill with powder coat. If the holes fill you will need a tap and die kit to rethread the holes this will be a mager pain in the butt. You may want to contact the manufature and see if they will refinish them for you. Good luck, Tom D.

Rattles
First off no such thing as a stupid question. To add arattle to a senko style worm get some of the glass rattles available at Wallymart or Bass pro insert them into the end of the worm if you are wacky rigging it, you could put one in both ends. T rigging you can insert it into the middle of the worm or the end. A trailer hook for a spinnerbait has a larger eye on it so that it fits over the existing hook, some come with a rubber keeper so taht the hook does not slide all over the bait. Just install the trailer hook over the original hook it should fit no problem. Good luck, Tom D.

Pedestal seat question
When I removed the drivers seat from my boat and installed a pedistol in the center for a third person I built a box out of 3/4 inch ply and 2X4s. I mounted this to the AL deck of the boat with sheet metal screws about 50 of them. The pedistol is mounted to this box. It is very strong. My sub floor was AL not wood. I could have removed the floor from the boat cut a hole in it and installed the seat with a backing plate then reinstalled the floor. The plywood box was much easier. Good luck, Tom D.
