  1. Well, in spite of the fact that I suck at so many other "hand-eye" aspects of fishing, what I am great at, is playing a fish once I have it hooked. For starters, I never get overly excited, or whacked out "until after" I have landed the darn thing LOL Besides all that, I just always keep it tight. If the fish is taking line, fine ! So be it. That's what a drag is for. But .1 second after it stops pulling, I'm on it hard and fast ! NEVER any standoff, tug-o-war BS. Its either ripping drag, or coming in right now. Get it in the live well, and then you can hoop and holler and act 10 kinds of stupid LOL Peace, Fish
  2. LOL How do they taste ??? Fish
  3. I went to the Yolo Basin wildlife preserve and flood control basin today, and Wow ! Talk about a ton of Snow geese ! I've never been there when they were coming through. I honestly don't know how many are in the preserve right now, but the flock I was photographing seemed like several hundred to maybe 1000 ? A Flock that was farther away looked twice as big. Anyway, a few coming in... I like this BG At least the focus hit where it was supposed to Now that's a lotta' Snow geese, huh ? This makes a really cool desktop, if you want it..... Note the one on the right center carrying the reeds.... and the darker grey one top center Anyway, had a great day at the Basin Peace, Fish Oh..... as an honorable mention.... I normally hate man made stuff in my wildlife photos. But I thought this old drainage pipe made for a very interesting BG, and the Egret was just so frilled up and posing, I think he wanted to be on Youtube or something LOL
  4. Much thanks Shortfish, my camera is a Canon T1i (normally, a fine camera.... but mine has had a focus issue from day 1 Obviously, as you can see from these shots, when it gets it right, it can take really nice shots, but it just misses SO many. My lens, on the other hand, is a 400 F5.6, and yea', its a pretty sweet piece of glass Fish
  5. from the last few days...... Peace, Fish PS, The Pelican and the sunset pond are 20 x 11.3" so they are correct for a widescreen desk top, if you want to grab them.
  6. Geeez Raider, I'm really sorry to hear about this. Prayers sent, though. Fish
  7. For sure, I'd love to fish with Al Lindner. One of the best multi-species anglers that has ever lived ! And one of the most passionate anglers on the planet. Of course I'd like to tag along with Butch Brown, or Mike Long, also. Fish
  8. Right on. Thanks guys. I'd LOVE to have a large shop with every tool I might possibly ever use Automotive, wood working, and general purpose.... I'd love to have the right tools to build some really big, bad @$$ speaker enclosures..... Or what the hey, I've already built a few of those.... I'd love to "wall" my F150 Peace, Fish
  9. Right on. Yea', like I say, my last one was the exact same drill, just in a 14.4V, so unless this one is just a lemon or something, I kind of expect it to last well for me. Fish
  10. Hey now, I know this isn't Makita, or De Walt or something, but then I'm not an actual construction worker either Anyway, right before Christmas, I ordered this 18V Skil from Home depot.com, for $89.99. It came with two batts, a charger, and a surprisingly nice nylon carrying bag for all of it Today I went back and checked, and they were not showing the two bat package anymore. This place is, but for $119.95 http://www.toolking.com/skil-2888-03-18v-cordless-1-2-in-drill-driver?CAWELAID=1410699303&catargetid=1436452153&cagpspn=pla&gclid=CIHXnoyly7QCFQ_hQgodJ3IAMA Hey BTW, my last cordless was also a Skil, but a 14.4V. I used the living $%#$ out of that thing ! Not only for knick knacks, but also for whole large projects, such as 300, 2-3" #6 drywalls screws for a speaker box.... twice ! I finally wore it out.... er should I say, the charger quit working. Got 10X's my monies worth of use out of it though. Hope this one lasts 3/4's as long..... Feels really solid Peace, Fish
  11. Ha ! After 45 years of practice, my casting still sucks. I don't even waste my time trying to improve it. Fish
  12. Lose my gut. I was once pretty d**n fit. Now bending over to grab a bass is a challenge in its own. My belly is always in the way of bending down haha. Only a fat guy would know what a PITA this is ! I used to have to hold my breath, to tie my shoes ! (up until 3 years ago) Two years ago, I was at the store trying on shoes, and I was so stoked to be able to do this and "breathe" at the same time, I think I tried on 10 pairs ... and bought two So anyway, I've now lost about 120 lbs of fat (easy), and put on 40+ lbs of lean muscle (rediculously hard), in 38 months. So here's my secret...... 1) Start out with a psychological issue called OCD, 2) get health and fitness lodged in your brain, 3) throw everything else in your life out the freaking window, and Bam ! Easy Peasy Peace, Fish
  13. LOL It's all good bro..... Not everyone can be as super-cool, and friendly as I am Peace, Fish
  14. I used to go to them every year. They are fun, just getting to talk to 10,000 people who are into fishing also..... Granted, just like in real life, out on the water, most of them are into numbers of small to medium fish / tournies.... but I can usually find a few guys into big fish too. At the last one I went to, about 3 years ago, I got kind of bombarded by several reps, who wanted me to stay and hang out at their booths. It was kind of cool to get showered with gifts and clothing though I still have a couple hoodies from that Expo. Peace, Fish
  15. Right on Can't go wrong with Nikon... or Canon And you can never have too many cameras LOL Fish
  16. True, true..... but then I probably wouldn't even kill a rat, unless in were in my house, and getting into my stuff. About those Turkey's though, yea' ! Those things can cause some serious damage. A few months ago a cycling pro friend of my room mate, was doing a downhill speedrun, at 50+ mph, caught a Turkey in the chest, and died from his injuries. The guy was only 30 yo. Just tragic. Fish
  17. Right on Tony I actually saw that pink one, and thought to myself, that would look great on a hottie...... and better yet, your own hottie Hey now, next you will have to get one of the leather ones...... since you already know you like them anyway Peace, Fish
  18. Redline, that one is just a little too extreme for me...... and that coming from a fairly extreme guy himself ! Mine are just the old school Mad Bombers. I have a couple for dress (my leather ones), a couple for Winter outdoors, and often I even sleep in one Rather keep my room cool / cold, but don't want to freeze my bald head LOL This one is the shiz though > http://www.furhatworld.com/leather-rabbit-fur-aviator-hat-black-p-504.html Oh and hey BTW, these hats are rediculous popular around these parts, and have been for several years..... Granted, it's 90+ % young black guys wearing them..... even when its not cold !?!? Of course that doesn't bother me in the slightest. I think its kind of funny that > an old white guy, has the sickest fur hat they have seen LOL Seriously, they all eye the $%#% out of my black leather one Peace, Fish
  19. http://www.furhatworld.com/aviator-bomber-hats-c-42_65.html I already owned 4 of them...... (my favorite for dress is my black leather, with Grey fur But had to order a couple more just now BTW, I've owned both the house brand (FRR) and the original Mad Bomber brands. They sell both, and both are fantastic quality. The Mad Bomber's seem to be a little heavier / warmer, while the FRR's are a little lighter.... but both are great, depending on the conditions you might use them in. Being bald, these things are a freaking life saver ! Oh, and one more thing.... Even though they supposedly have to be washed by a "Furrier" (where the heck would you fiind one of those ???) I have actually washed mine, by themselves, on gentle, with light detergent, then dried on warm.... and they came out spotless, and fluffier than new ! Getting ready to put up some sort of hooks or something to hang up my fur hat collection Peace, Fish
  20. Alright, so how many of you have Seagulls in your area ? We have tons of them, and they often hang out where ever a bunch of people are, looking for food scraps. Thick at Bodega Bay CA. Anyway, you can drive around all day long, every day, in a parking lot full of Seagulls..... Or 10 billion of them at the landfill, and the faster you drive, the faster they jump. Its like they are so used to cars, they know the drill. I honestly can't ever remember seeing one squashed by a car ? So yesterday, I'm driving around Bodega Bay, "really slow".... like 10 mph. I see a whole Japanese family parked, and fishing, hanging out, etc. It looked like they just through out some bait or something, as several Seagulls were swooping down, off the side of the road. Suddenly, one of them lands right in the middle of my lane. I was going so slow, I could have easily stopped, but then I figured.... Eh... They always jump out of the way at the last second anyway. So as this Japanese lady looks toward the front of my truck, the bird goes out of my sight below my hood.... then, right when I was thinking, "That thing better jump...... Wump... Wump ! And it really was like running over a big pillow ! But ahhh buddies ! You should have seen the look on this Japanese ladies face ! She put her hands over her mouth, and ran out to look at it, dead, and squashed ! She was obviously horrified ! Anyway, a person might say, "It's only a Seagull"...... but I really wouldn't kill one, just for the sake of killing it. Fish
  21. A baby IS a small animal. A juvenile **** Sapiens, to be more specific. BTW, Golden Eagles (larger than Bald Eagles) can / do commonly catch / kill Coyotes ! I'm sure they would prefer a smaller, or weaker, or sick Coyote... But if they don't have any choice.... ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Oh ! Hey ! True story.... About 2 years ago, we had two dogs here. One was a medium sized mutt (Rhani). Probably say, 25-30 lbs ? So, I was sitting in my bed room, with the sliding door open. All of the sudden, Rhani starts just screaming, squealing, and basically flipping the heck out, like somebody was trying to kill her ! I jumped up and ran for the back door, but just as I got to it, she came bolting past me into my room ! A quick look over her didn't reveal any injuries, but you would have thought she was dying for all her screaming ! I went outside with a flash light, but could not find anything to explain what had just happened ??? So, the next evening (still barely light) Rhani was sitting in my room, looking out through the open sliding door...... but didn't want to go out {very unusual for her}. When she suddenly starts growling, and backing back into my room ? So, I go to the back door, and I look all around the back yard..... Finally, I look up to the support piece on top of a telephone pole, and their was a HUGE Hawk sitting up there, looking down toward my room, eying Rhani at my back door ! Guaranteed it tried to catch / kill our smaller dog the night before ! Good thing it wasn't a smaller dog ! A Chihuahua, or something that size, would have been a goner..... and an easy meal ! Birds of prey are SOOO coool though Here's a couple shots I took of a Juvenile Golden Eagle near my home here in Nor Ca...... Peace. Fish
  22. But Raider, I actually tried that once, and it came out with an overwhelming "burnt" taste ? Strong coffee is one thing (I love it strong too) but this was definitely nasty, burnt. What kind of coffee maker did you use ? Mine was just an old Mr Coffee..... Hey though. here's my method.... I don't use a coffee pot. Instead, I have this nice, big 30oz mug, which fits perfectly into my coffee maker. Then, I use enough scoops of coffee grounds to make a full 8-10 cup pot, for my mug, which is less than 4 cups Oh... and forget all that fancy stuff.... > Folgers Gourmet Supreme is all the fanciness I need Fish
  23. Now that, is really out there ! Pretty cool though Somebody really put a ton of thought into building that ! Fish
  24. And you would call this a weakness ??? I'd call that an atta' boy LOL Senko's are for the crowds. If your after the same fish the crowds are after, then have at it ! Not me though. Peace, Fish
  25. Hmmm. Probably two things... 1) I'm the worlds worst caster. I cannot even operate a bait caster... 2) I have the hardest time fishing blind. I mean, I don't have to physically see a fish before every cast.... But I do have to know there are big fish on this spot, ot at least in this area, or else I feel like I'm spinning my wheels. I see guys all the time, up on the front of a high-per bass boat, just blind fishing down a bank, and this seems like the most foreign thing in the world to me ? ...then again, for point #2, one could say that I need to learn how to cover more area, fishing blind...... but I might say, the people that do this, need to quit wasting time in water that "may not" be holding fish, and spend more time in water that "they know" is holding fish Depends on how you look at it I guess... Fish
