  1. I have two tatulas and really like them. They cast really good, and the drag is strong and smooth. I can not stand to feel every tooth on the gears meshing. ( some call it a connected feel) Both of my tatulas are smooth and quiet when cranking, just the way I like them. I have sold quite a few shimano's just because they were very geary. (curado i, citica e, and calcutta) as far as the t-wing, I really can't tell if it makes a difference but I can tell you that the tatula is a very good caster for baits around 3/8 and above. If you don't mind the wieght and size, you should definitely give one a try.
  2. Thank you for your service sir!
  3. Another vote for the boomerang snips! They are small, effecient, and are retractable. What else could you ask for? I keep mine on my belt loop, and it is awesome not havin to dig thought my pockets to find my knife every time I need to re-tie
  4. Those tatulas are fine reels! I have two of them and to me they are perfect for anything over 1/4oz. I have tried alot of different reels from all the big manufacturers and daiwa really impressed me. The only reel I have that I like more than the tatula is my pixy px68, that is the smoothest reel I have ever had the pleasure of fishing.
  5. I would try working a weightless fluke just below the surface. start with a pretty fast erratic retrieve, reeling steadily and shaking the rod tip at the same time. This will make the fluke dart all over the place just below the surface and it looks like a bait fish trying to run for his life. If that doesn't work out, cast it out and try fishing it like a senko. Let it flutter down to the bottom (on slack line), pop it up with a couple of twitches and let it sink again. You have to pay close attention to your line when the bait is falling, since your line is slack you won't feel the bite but you will be able to tell if you watch your line.
  6. I have been fishing alot of ponds here in eastern nc, and have been catching them in the deeper sections using a Texas rigged 10" culprit worm in red shad or crankbaits. And believe it or not, I have also caught them pretty good on hard jerkbaits. But if you can't find any deep water, look for any shaded areas (over hanging trees, docks, Lilly pads etc) and fish them with a jig or soft plastic. Good luck!
  7. Welcome from wilmington nc!
  8. Same has happened to me, I can't remember the brand but they were bought from bps in February aND they are now yellow. I store them in a 3700 with my terminal tackle, if I'm not fishing my boxes are in the house.
  9. 48's man, go big or go home! haha
  10. Every shimano I have had has been really geary, and cleaning it did nothing. I traded them out for daiwas and haven't looked back since.
  11. I know it is opposite what everyone else is saying, but I give my frog just enough time to float back up. If I don't see it after a second or two, I cross their eyes. If it does float up I let it sit about five seconds and then try to walk it in place. If I don't get hit doing that I reel it back in and throw something else in the same spot (normally a senko or some other Texas rigged plastic)
  12. Boomerang snips changed my life! Haha Seriously though, I never even thought about them and always cut my line with my teeth or a knife. Then a friend let me use his boomerang snips one day and it made re-tying so much easier. I have a set of lews pliers that cut braid pretty good as well, but they aren't as easy to deal with.
  13. I recently bought a px68 off the auction site. It was in Japan and shipped ems, I had it in my hands in 5 days with no extra customs fees. I thought it would take at least a whole week!

  18. This is the best looking bass I have ever seen, caught by grantman here in wilmington nc. Is this a spotted bass?
  19. They are pretty good rods for the money, I have a 7'2 mh fast jig and worm rod and I caught alot of fish with it. The only thing I didn't like about it was the reel seat locking nut. Mine also seems a little stiffer than all of my other mh rods
  20. Welcome from wilmington nc! Nice fish!
  21. My frog rod is a 6'6 H fast, and it works great. I lost a little casting distance by going shorter, but I gained a lot more control over my frog because of how light and balanced the set up is.

  23. What happened to the 14 ft jon boat with the 9.9 you were talking about the other day? That would would be alot more comfortable to fish out of than an 8ft. Small jon boats aren't very stable in calm water, and things could go wrong pretty quick in a lake with wind and boat traffic.
  24. My mom goes there a few times a year with her husband, and they always catch alot of fish. I have never been, but from the pics I have seen I really want to fish it one day. That lake is full of bass and big bluegill
