  1. That's what I was thinking, I have been looking for a cranking rod anyways and when I saw that I couldn't pass it up. If it's anywhere close to how the tatula rods felt I will be perfectly happy with it.
  2. Hey guys, I found the daiwa lexa rods on sale at gm for $49.99 and picked up a 7'2" mh-r (moderate) and have not found any reviews on this particular rod, and very few on the whole lexa series of rods. So I was wondering if anyone here has had experience with any of them and would like to see what yall thought. Thanks in advance, Tater
  3. If I had a dollar for every time I have checked my email today... I want that rod bad!
  4. I have a 7'3 mh duckett micro magic that I use for the purpose you stated and I love it. I mainly throw 1/2 oz jigs but it works very good for 3/8 oz too. It has a soft tip that loads up good with the 3/8 but it's also got a lot of backbone to it. And if you look on the auction site you can find them for $119 with free shipping.
  5. I just got a black max 1600 round reel off fleabay and I love it. I tore it down before I ever casted it and cleaned it, and put in a set of blue brake blocks. That little reel will cast little tiny crankbaits better than any of my other reels! I haven't thrown anything else with it yet but I bet it will be awesome for weightless trick worms and flukes, especially if I could find a higher gear set to speed it up a little
  6. I drink a monster local Moca every day on the way to work!
  7. I have this motor on my 12ft jon boat and it does just fine. You should not need any mounting brackets, they come with the motor. Normally I can fish 2-3 days without recharging and I bought the cheapest deep cycle battery my walmart had ($80)
  8. I think it's the same as the micro magic, but with normal guides instead of micro guides
  9. Duckett micro magic, I just bought a 7'3 mh off the big auction site for $120 shipped brand new and I absolutely love it
  10. I have an exo and love it. The only thing I don't like Is the fact that you have to take off the side plate to access the brakes. But then again I haven't had to adjust them since I set the reel up, and I throw 1/4 oz to 3/4 oz baits with it.
  11. I have been fishing sawyer custom tackle jigs. I found them on ebay and bought a few because of the price, and was really surprised by them. The paint on the head holds up real good and they don't hang up bad. He makes some nice chatterbaits and spinner baits to. I plan on trying some of sieberts jigs as well since everyone here talks so highly of them
  12. Yeah mine got to where you could hear the gears, and that aggravated the heck out of me. I sold it and bought tatula. I doubt I will ever buy another graphite framed reel, they just don't hold up like aluminum framed ones.
  13. Yeah my lazer mg didn't have a lube port, you have to tear it down to lube it. The level wind line guide was plastic and a little loose on mine as well, but it did not affect the performance at all. What kind of noise is it making?
  14. I went to dicks yesterday to get some wieghts, and walked to the checkout with one of the green baskets loaded! Sk jerkbaits $3! 10xd $5! They had a lot of good stuff on clearance with additional 50% off lowest advertised price. Even their tungsten was dirt cheap! I ended up SAVING $64 dollars, the bait monkey should be happy for a day or two
  15. I hate usps, I have bought 4 reels off the internet this month, and usps has handled all of them. Two of them took almost two weeks to get to me, and one of them showed up to my house as an empty package with a sorry letter from the post master. I know that seller was happy, there was $50 insurance on that new quantum exo 100hpt that the post office "misplaced"
  16. I sent it to dvt, he replaced the clutch spring on it and fabricated something to hold the spring. the part that originally held the spring was not available from daiwa as one piece, I would have had to buy the whole handle sideplate. I have fished it quite a bit since I got it back from dvt and his work has not failed yet.
  17. If you decide to go the tdz route just pm me, I have a 103h I might let go.
  18. I bought an exo off ebay new without box in December for $75 and was a little skeptical but when I got it, it was actually new. It didn't have scratches or anything and I took it apart and it still had the factory lube. I have bought quite a few reels off ebay and have been perfectly happy with each one.
  19. I have one and after two or three months it got really "geary". My buddy in the back of the boat could hear me reeling. I tried taking it apart and thoroughly cleaning it but it never went away. I even paid to get it professionally cleaned and it didn't help. It would cast just fine and all, but that noise just aggravated the heck out of me. I bought a lazer speed spool after the carbon fire, and have not had any problems with it after a year.
  20. I bought a new quantum exo 100hpt for $75 and just picked up a shimano clarus for $50. Now I'm just waiting on ups and usps to bring them. Last track on my exo was in Oklahoma on Dec 20, it's now the 24th and hasn't updated since. Gotta love the usps priority mail. Good thing it wasn't someone's Christmas present
  21. I sure hope I like it, that sure is a sweet looking reel!
  22. There's 2 more the guy has on ebay for same price. Swears up and down they are brand new without packages, with no scratches or anything.
  23. Anyone have experience with these? Just bought one "brand new without package" for $75. I figure even if I don't like it I could easily get my money back. I have never owned or even casted a quantum, and never hear about them here. Are they decent reels? Thanks in advance guys!
  24. I have never fished top water in the winter, but it's my go to the hour after sunrise and before sunset in the spring, summer, and fall. If the popper or buzz bait won't bring them up, the jitterbug will. The bass around my area slaughter a jitterbug. Most of the time I reel it just fast enough to get it wobbling, with short pauses near cover/structure.
  25. I got a daiwa tdz 103h, daiwa capricorn 2000 (the good silver one, not the dicks exclusive) an okuma vs20, and a daiwa minispin off of eBay for $50. I could not believe it when that auction ended haha I just knew that someone was gonna out bid me at the last second, but somehow they didnt. That was my best deal, but I bought a used lews tournament pro off of there for $50 also. This spring i bought a brand new lews lazer speed spool combo from dsg for $42
