  1. My plan is to do my best to fish every single day possible and try to improve my jig fishing skills, and of course try to catch a new PB.

My favorite has to be my motor oil with red flake, I throw that when nothing else is working and always seem to get bit.
  3. I haven't really been able to find much on the new line other than a few reviews on their site. I'll be curious to see if anyone on here has used one... I'd really like to try one but have a hard time pulling the trigger on something without handling it, I'd like to hear some more reviews or maybe I'll be able to find one in a store and hold it in the near future.
  4. The quality of them is amazing and I really want to focus on jigs this coming year... I see many plano 3700's full of Siebert jigs in my future haha.
  5. I used a 12" Berkley Powerworm in red shad a lot this year with a 1/4 Oz tungsten on a 5/0 ewg. As far as catching fish I caught some that were almost shorter than the worm. This didn't happen a lot but I did have some of the smaller fish go for it.
  6. I started with the Zara spook and learned how to fish that comfortably. It's probably my favorite top water presentation. I bought some LC gunfish to try this year. In my area I've had my best luck on the bass patterned spook. I've not really fished many other top waters but I'm looking to get some buzzbaits to give those a try this coming year also. I used a 6'6" medium fast to fish these lures with pretty decent luck with 12 pound CXX.
  7. My first Sieberts order just arrived today. Quality is amazing I'll be ordering more soon for sure!
  8. Most all of mine have inserts that I have put in them. I use The technique mentioned above from Aaron Martens video to put them in. It really doesn't take that long after you do it a few times.
  9. I have one of the older jadewood series and I liked it what little I did use it. Didn't really get to fish it much just because I got it late in the season. I got mine free after purchasing a discounted rosewood seties also a nice rod. I would say for 80 dollars it would be worth a shot to see if you liked it or not. Bob
  10. Just recently I picked up a new Curado 200I, absolutely love the reel... Now I just need a rod to put it on haha. I also got some various terminal tackle and some sunline fx2 and fluorocarbon. I also made my first Siebert order and got some of the new gridiron football jigs and some dredge brush jigs.
  11. Just placed my first ever Siebert order and from what I read it won't be my last. Can't wait to get them.
  12. This right here, I spend more than enough on my own. At least I know I'm not the only one that has this problem.
  13. I just started teaching myself to pitch this year, I have been using a 7'6" heavy action micro magic. I'm still practicing but I've gotten a lot better, and I'm 5'6". I have used my 7' MH to pitch my t rigs when i cant make a overhead or sidearm cast work on occasion but if I'm gonna go out and pitch cover I'll use my Duckett. But I think it would come down to what you're comfortable leaving with.
  14. I'd have to say I prefer cork, full or split grip. There's just something I don't like about the feel of the EVA grips.
  15. 9 times out of 10 I'm grabbing for a 1/4, but like others said if I have to go heavier to maintain contact with the bottom I will. I'll go lighter on smaller worms but I'm usually tossing a 10 inch worm and 1/4 seems to work best for me in most situations.
  16. I've been thinking out getting into tying my own jigs, not pour them yet though until I get to where I cane tie them. I plan on making a order from Sieberts to get started. And I'm sure I'll buy a lot more tackle that I absolutely need haha
  17. I'd have to say it's for the challenge mostly. And I also work a lot so it's nice to just be able to wind down for a little bit and forget about everything. Just me and the fish so to speak.
  18. The first I bought was an abu from Walmart and a med/heavy gX2 ugly stik as far as lures go I started out dragging 7 and 10 inch worms t-rigged, and that's still my favorite way to fish
  19. I have a 2010 4 door that I pull our 18 foot champion with. One thing I make sure I do is manually turn the overdrive off, it keeps it at about 2500 RPM and also keeps the transmission from kicking in and out of overdrive constantly. Aside from that it seems to do ok around here but is is fairly flat here. I also have 35" tires it has to turn but still does ok so I'd say you would be fine.
  20. I'd have to say my favorite is probably dragging a t-rig along the bottom. But I'd be fibbing if I said I didn't enjoy a top water blow up also.
  21. Thanks for all the hospitality guys, it seems like a real awesome group of guys here. Lots of good reads to.
  22. When I first started buying all my gear I was still I college so lead was the way to go just because I could get so many for little to nothing. I came across some tungsten on sale and bought them and I won't use anything else now, to me it seems like I can feel everything so much better it's worth the added cost.
  23. Hey thanks for all the welcomes guys!
  24. Hey everyone the names Bob and I'm from Central Illinois. I've always loved to fish but until recently I was in school and working nights to pay for that but now I'm working full time and able to fund my fishing addiction. I found this site through youtube and being I just started fishing seriously I'm here to soak up as much knowledge as I can.
