Nice fish, but those combos.......

Today I was fishing with a texas-rigged homeade worm that's identical to the Grandebass Rattlesnake in a larger size. I had it on a 3/0 hook and a 1/4 oz. weight.. Well I nicked a branch behind me and about 3/4 of my worm flew off. I had a stub left that was just about a little longer than the hook. Well, I took a look at it and thought, "man, that looks like a ned rig. Let's try it" Threw it out and caught a fish first cast, followed by about 4 more in the next 30 minutes. Abosolutely bar none the stupidest looking thing I've ever fished, but man I'm gonna keep fishing it!

Dude I can't tell you how nervous I was. He sat in twelth place for like 12 anglers after him. Really thought he'd get knocked off. Watching the weighin right now and as much as I've loved to see Pirch fish this week (ton of confidence), I'm rooting for AMart. He is a phenomenal angler and he must be so frustrated with his seconds.

Most natural ponds have fish in them. I'd test it out with some nightcrawlers, always a good way to test for fish.

Weightless and split-shotted soft plastics are always killer for me. Topwater is a lot of fun as well in the heat.

Yippee! Stephen Browning and JVD are in 5th and 7th, respectively according to BASSTrakk. Both of those are dark horses and they are going to get me some amazing points if they can squeeze out a top twelve. JVD made an amazing rally in particular. I figured it was worth the chance to pick him over Brandon and it paid off!

Fishing is awesome. Even though I lose baits and break off giant fish and run into snakes, it's totally worth it. Not complainin'!

Nice job! Don't feel bad about keeping fish. One of the ponds I could fish could really use that and I may have to do it at some point. It's a private pond, I'm about the only one who fishes it (with occasional visitors), and the owners don't care about it because they're busy keeping up with funerals (it's a cemetery pond). The only thing they use it for is looks. Because of that, it has a ton of small bass and about 4-5 big (4+) fish.

Pretty happy with the day's results. None of my guys are in the top 15 or so, but 4 of them made it to the cut tomorrow. I have decent hope for David Walker and Alton Jones to make it to the top 12. My picks were all mostly dark horses, with the exception of Ike, although he wasn't picked a lot, so because they mostly made it to the top 50, that's good points. JVD made a huge rally and got in last place for tomorrow. Unfortunately, Ike missed the cut by two positions. Really disappointed in him, as I'm sure he is in himself. But with dark horse picks, getting 4 into the top 50 is not bad. Because of that, I advanced to 98.6 for today. Good luck for the rest of the weekend guys!

I really like Havoc baits. Haven't tried the jerk tho. They are all fantastic baits for 3 bucks, and often you can get them for less.

Yeah I've probably started fishing about 3 times less now that I'm working a summer job. AKA, I only fish about once every three days.
