Crankbait: sexy shad. Lipless: red

about 3/4s of a pound, but the fish after that (same day and bait) was a 2 1/2 pounder. Talk about a fun fight: enraged pre-spawn bass, just choked a lipless, and I'm fighting it on a spincast rod that could barely drag it on the bank. I thought it was around 4 pounds at the time .

I fish it when there's murky/stained water. Seems to stand out more.

^Nice fish, but I have a feeling it's not quite as big as it looks . Caught a small (4 lb.) catfish today in my pond. Funny thing is, I've been fishing this place for two years, bottom, top, you name it, never seen or caught a catfish. Pegged it today on a swimbait. Made me laugh and realize I might not know as much about species in the ponds I fish as I think.

I would go weightless. Probably with a trick worm, fluke, or curly tail.

I know that comfort is more important than style, and Scott Martin wears them and all, but you wouldn't catch me dead with a pair of zekos. Don't care for them .

If it's a lure I haven't caught a fish on, I fish it until I do or it's very, very, clear that the fish don't want it. Those lures getting fewer and fewer now, I sorta fish my feelings. Some baits work really well on certain waters/under certain conditions and I play it by ear.

I love the fact that you stopped fishing to post that. You'll probably catch a bigger one by the end of your trip . Nice job and well done!
