  1. 4 1/2, forget in my excitement to measure her. Oh well. In the pictures it really doesn't look that big, I guess it was really wide the other way or something! But I did weigh her.
  2. lol don't you love those "over the head moments!" I get it.
  3. Any experience with the Excalibur EEratic Shad? Just got mine today in the mail. Out of the package, it looks great. Little longer than I expected but I'm sure they'll still eat it. The only thing is that the bill seems pretty weak. It doesn't seem like it'll snap off but if you try you can wiggle it slightly. Do these perform well for you?
  4. I'm not embarrassed to do it, I just don't see the point. To each his own!
  5. No, I'm not really a fish kisser. My sister's boyfriend suggested I get a posed picture. I don't really have anything against fish kissing, but I just don't do it.
  6. A more recent one, Better Bass Fishing by Robert Montgomery is an excellent book. It taught me everything I needed to know to fishing with lures.
  7. Jigs, flukes, lipless crankbaits, and senkos.
  8. If you plan on throwing crankbaits, jerkbaits, and topwaters a lot, go with a medium. If you're more of a spinnerbait/soft plastics/jigs type of guy, get a MH. If you're trying to do both, stick with the MH.
  9. Orange baits were good to me last year during this time, went out today and caught my PB on a red/orange lipless. Go for it!
  10. I have never fished it. I don't have transportation to be able to fish the lakes very often. Falls is only about 15 minutes from where I live in Wake County. I have heard that Harris is a great lake. A lot of vegetation there, right? I have fished Jordan for crappie, and would someday like to knock Harris off the list.
  11. I second this message! I have learned so much from this place. You guys have made a difference.
  12. Thanks guys. I forgot to add the best part: I was "along for the ride" on my sister's date. I convinced her & her boyfriend to take a walk by the pond so I could fish. Shameless, I know, but hey! I got a PB out of it.
  13. http://s304.photobucket.com/user/kyleanimals/media/IMG_20150316_184547627_zpswbxjqf6r.jpg.html http://s304.photobucket.com/user/kyleanimals/media/IMG_20150316_184555613%201_zpsrqrkflyb.jpg.html http://s304.photobucket.com/user/kyleanimals/media/IMG_20150316_184541179_zpse9sj56gn.jpg.html Hopefully these pictures will do it justice. I have never tried to upload anything before. Gave up in frustration and switched to Photobucket. Thanks Bluebasser for the suggestion . Caught my new PB today at the pond! I've caught one in that range before but never had it weighed. The bass I caught tonight was 4 1/3 pounds, caught on a red Cotton Cordell Spot (that I got yesterday). It looks biggest in the last picture, it doesn't look as big as it really is in the pictures (it was official!). If you live in the south, get out there. I've caught the two biggest bass of my life in the last two weeks. Next trip is to Falls Lake on Saturday. I've heard they crush liplesses there. Watch out....this streak might not be over. P.S. Forget the nerdy hat; couldn't find my usual one and was in a hurry to get out the door.
  14. Just got in an order from "my personal TW," also known as a retired FLW co-angler in my church with a garage FULL of baits he never could use in his lifetime and gives to me at a big discount. Never tried any of the soft plastics before, can't wait to start throwing flukes and lizards. They crush weightless soft plastics at my ponds. All of the bags were consolidated with other bags and have about twice as much as normal stuffed into them: -Two bags of Zoom Salty Super Flukes -One bag of BPS Flukes -One bag of Sug Gos he threw in as extra -Two bags of Zoom Lizards -One bag of FLW series Mann's Lizards -Two Cotton Cordell Spots He only charged me 12 bucks for the whole lot....when you consider that the bags had a ton in them there was probably about 40-50 dollars worth. very nice of him. Once I get my trick worms that he forgot this order next week and my jerkbait comes in, my fishing "needs" will have been wrapped up. Now it's time to get some bass smell on those baits......
  15. I measured them last night; they're about 6 1/2 inches, so pretty long. If I want to downsize I could probably just snip off a coupla inches off the tail. But hopefully these'll be seeing some use. Thanks again for the help.
  16. Yeah, one thing not to love about spring. Mosquitos are my worst fishing enemy.
  17. Nice job! Quality time w/ the fam is way more important than quality fish- I learned that this last year fishing with my little sister.
  18. Oh my word, that thing is crazy!! Talk about a pot-bellied sow.
  19. Oh, I like him fine. He's on my roster for the Sabine river and I don't pick guys I don't like. I wouldn't mind if he was a leeetle less cocky and cut the "ya knows" out of his vocabulary.
  20. ^^ That is why I said oldertimers. No offense meant, I mean hey, I'm trying to learn from your wisdom Thanks guys. I have a feeling I'm going to enjoy fishing them.

Somebody gave me a bag of about 50 bubble-gum pink Slug Gos. Oldertimers: can you fill me in on what these are?? They seem like a fluke. Any differences?
  22. He definitely endorses his products. (Ya know, this biggie poppa will certainly catch you some monsters, ya know, ya know, my frogs are the bomb, ya know, ya know)
  23. And I thought this would be a thread about fishing with your better half.
