  1. Ouch. That must be a hard time for his family. He'll be in my prayers.
  2. Most guys buy expensive stuff because you get the most bang for your buck by buying quality gear that'll last a while. I don't totally agree with that, but I certainly know some people who use expensive stuff and it runs like a dream.
  3. Yup. There's an 8-9 pounder in the little pond I fish. Seen her once, talked to people who've caught her. She continues to elude my hook, but one of these days I'll get lucky and have a new pb.
  4. Before I started targeting bass, I used to fish for any species with nightcrawlers. I never set the hook with them, just let the fish swallow it and you'll hook him, right? Well, once I started bass fishing, I was leery to set the hook, and didn't like soft plastics right away. Then, I started fishing at a little creek by my house. Those fish excel in fast current conditions. They'll strike your bait fast, and if you don't set the hook the instant you see your line twitch, you will find yourself without a bait. So I learned there at the creek that setting the hook actually helps you. I still was using nightcrawlers occasionally then. I found that I hooked so many more fish with nightcrawlers by raring back. So then I finally discovered plastic worms. Setting the hook was a given. I've never had a problem with hooking fish. Even though I fished with spincast and "fairy wands" exclusively for a while, I always set the hook as hard as I could. Never broke a rod. When you see your line twitch, just rare back. I don't even "drop and reel" or "wait on point to see if there is a fish," I just set the hook. Hard. You might try tightening up your drag. Once you have a fish on, you could loosen it. Good luck.
  5. Wow I thought this would be another Stradic thread.
  6. I've been fishing a ton of lures, but haven't caught anything. My ponds have shut down and it is ANNOYING. Trying again tomorrow though! I won't give up. The really hot prespawn period usually starts third week of march for us in NC, so that is coming up soon.
  7. I love it when the pros catch a bass and are like "this one has a 6-pounder head and a 3-pounder body" I bet a lot of tourneys could have been won with much heavier bags if those bass hadn't gone on a diet.
  8. Yeah, even my young eyes had difficulty with the codes. I don't even think it was my eyes either.
  9. I don't care what ya'll think, anything Lambo puts out is super sexy.
  10. Dang those cork jigs sound intriguing. What type of trailer to you use on those? lol
  11. I caught one in cold rain in the early winter on a buzzbait. It can be done.
  12. I learned this tip from a former FLW coangler: To help stop backlashing, put your hook on a tree and walk off a full cast and then a little more. Put some tape across the spool. Wind it back in. The backlash won't build from the core of the reel, and won't be as much of a nightmare.
  13. I freakin' hate the whole dress thing. I wish I could be a moderator and have the last word: "It's gold and white. Good night Irene." LOCK That would be hilarious.
  14. Love that combo man and nice fish too!
  15. I went with a dark horse and picked Mark Mendendez. He's back on the tour this year, a solid angler, and I know from watching the TW vlogs that he's a good river fisherman. We'll see how that pans out.
  16. Wait, really? No way! My dingers can outperform your pointers any day! Actually, probably not. I'll remain humble . I'm way below your class.
  17. Not too much variety on these boards. These guys all have visions about jerkbaits and can give you plenty of pointers. If you pay, of course.
  18. I like Roman Atwood and Mediocre Films for prank channels. Dude Perfect for laughs. React for entertainment. Oh, and don't forget Bart Baker with his hilarious parodies.
  19. One of my all-time favorite vids. Anything they put out is watched by yours truly.
  20. I thought they looked good when I saw them at walmart. I have a lot of confidence in their baits, and lowering the price doesn't hurt me a bit.
  21. I like the regular Spooks but I find my Yamamato Tate Pencil easier to walk.
  22. Awesome job! I went out yesterday trying to catch a fish in the snow (and get my first new year fish), but nothing happened except some frozen hands.
  23. That is awesome! ^^
  24. I worked on catching a fish that I was pretty sure was bigger than my pb. Didn't catch her but she bit my senko three times.
