Dropped Curado I In The Creek. Bearing Issue?
I've heard the gen2 revo stx was the best. I owned a gen 2 sx. It wasn't bad. Kinda heavy. I love the "feel" of the revos though. Just wish the quality control was a little better for the third generation.

Line Size And Knots For Light Texas Rigs?
If you check your line and wet your knots, three no reason you should break off on a hookset. Wetting your knots with fluoro is very important. It will burn itself if you don't. I've pulled a few 5# plus bass out of lily pads this year with 16# sniper as a leader. It's good stuff. You'll like it.

Line Size And Knots For Light Texas Rigs?
16# sniper is probably about as low as I would go. 20# wouldn't be out of the question if cover is that thick. Trilene 100% isn't bad, but sniper is hard to beat in that price range.

Master Angler Awards
I'm in the best area of the state for smallies. Two blue ribbon smallmouth streams within a few miles of my house. Bull shoals and Table Rock just 20 minutes away. It probably is geared toward the younger crowd. If the qualifications are that low, I'll probably not apply.

Holy crap. I am now on a mission. Thank you for this. I've "achieved" all of the black bass qualifications, but I don't know what you need to qualify. Pictures of the weight and fish? I'll call them tomorrow and find out. Here are the black bass qualifications. Largemouth: 8 lbs Smallmouth: 3.5 lbs Spotted: 3.5 lbs

Line Size And Knots For Light Texas Rigs?
You've got to be fishing some pretty gnarly stuff to break off that much on a hookset with 15# fluoro. Especially trilene. Their diameter is thicker than just about everyone else's fluoro. If you are just fishing moderate cover, I'd say it's your knot. Make sure you wet your knots and check your line every so often.

Need Some Advice About A Rod
I guess that should have been the first question, but it's almost fair to assume they are casting rods. Not too many MH Moderate spinning rods out there. I looked around and found that Berkeley Lightning makes a 6'6 MH Moderate Fast in a casting model. Only fast actions in spinning with the same length. Are these the rods you have? If so, square bills, shallow cranks, jerkbaits, and topwaters with trebles would be ideal. At least, in my book.

Dropped Curado I In The Creek. Bearing Issue?
I actually really like this reel. Very light. Super smooth. Palms very well. Casts almost as far as my Curado I. The little things like the tension knob coming off and the thumb bar sticking every now and then are kind of annoying though.

Need Some Advice About A Rod
I guess it would depend on how someone likes to fish jerkbaits. Jerking on slackline with a moderate action rod would be difficult to achieve the action I desire in a jerkbait. Braid with a leader could help some I guess. Square bills wouldn't be ideal for me either. The key word is ideal. Would it work? Yes, but short accurate casts aren't nearly as easy or accurate with a moderate action rod. Moderate fast is as slow as I would go. Personal preference I guess.

Dropped Curado I In The Creek. Bearing Issue?
Well, I relubed everything (worm gear and both bearings) and for whatever reason, the problem has disappeared. I'm actually convinced there was some sediment stuck in the worm gear or under the pawl, and while lubing and reeling a whole bunch with the reel up to my ear, I somehow worked it out of there haha. Now for my next problem. I have a revo stx with a spool tension knob that keeps mysteriously coming off. I already bought all of the click washers, small washers, click spring etc., but the tension knob e replacement parts sent me will not screw onto the reel. It's like the threads are stripped on the knob, but it doesn't look like it from inspecting it. The threads aren't stripped on the reel. I know this for sure because I've already put a different knob on it since I've had the one that was sent to me. It also mysteriously disappeared. Can't keep a knob on this reel. I'll call e replacement parts tomorrow I guess.

Something with treble hooks. I would say spinnerbaits, chatterbaits, swimjigs, or other single hook moving baits, but a moderate action rod is a little harder to be accurate with and too soft to drive a jig hook. Probably too soft for jerkbaits also.

Fish Jumping At Boat And Spitting Hook
Either you were having some bad luck, or you weren't setting the hook hard enough. Braided line helps with jigs and setting the hook. I always tie on a fluoro leader.

Never mind. Did a quick search. Found out what I needed to know.

How do you flush your bearings? I've never done it.

Dropped Curado I In The Creek. Bearing Issue?
I dropped my reel in the creek yesterday. It proceeded to float downstream until I jumped in and saved it. It worked fine for a little while, until it started making a clicking noise when reeling. The clicking noise seems to be coming from the right side. I took out the spool, and it still clicks but not as bad. I set the drag all the way loose, and it doesn't click at all. Therefore, its not the levelwind, pawl, or wormgear. It isn't in the gears either. I have concluded it is the right side spool bearing. I guess it got some sediments in it. The funny thing is it doesn't click on the cast, and casting distance seems to be the same. What do you guys think it is?

Looking For Some Tips!
Find out where the big ones live, when they like to feed, and what they normally eat. The heaviest cover you can find is always the first place I look. If cover is absent, you are going to have to do a little more work. That's generally my experience. I like to use proven baits that in some way resemble the main forage. I've caught some nice bass on baits that may resemble nothing, but my biggest fish were all caught on something that at least mimicked the color of the main forage. Go fishing at high percentage times. Spring, sunrise, sunset, overcast days, etc. Get good at detecting bites. Big bass can barely feel like anything on your end. If I feel a slight tick then see my line swim away, or if I don't feel a bite at all, but I feel something on the end of my line, a lot of times that is a bigger fish. That's pretty much the jist of it, but the main thing is to get to know your body of water very well, and do lots of reading. Good luck.

Bass Fishing In The Ponds
Very true. Every body of water is different. Just that opposite could happen on any given day. The same lure that didn't work one day could be the ticket the next time you go out. Everyday is a puzzle.

Good Finesse Baitcaster 1/8 - 3/16 Oz Baits
I took a second glance through it, and I didn't see it. Lol. Must have imagined it. Its been a good while since I read it.

Hooksets While Flipping
I like to keep a little slack in the line so they can inhale the bait without feeling tension from a taught line, then set the hook immediately when I feel the thump.
-
Spinner Bait Challenged
This is true for most baits. Instead of stopping the spool when the bait hits the water, stop the spool when the bait is about a foot above the water. This works really good on long casts for me.

Custom Rod Curiosity
I can personally attest for the NFC HM. It is fantastic.

You don't need a lathe if you buy cork rings. If you use blocks like the random elliptical handles in this thread, you will need a lathe. I asked the same question earlier lol.
