  1. Shimano Curado I 7.2:1/ Powell Inferno 734
  2. What I always thought was that it's not because of eating crawfish, but because of feeding on bottom. I've been told when they go to feed on crawfish, their lips crape against rocks, etc which makes their lips raw and red.
  3. Megabass Pop X
  4. MLF isn't based on a 5 fish limit. Every fish counts. They're fishing on Dale Hollow in the middle of summer. Quite a bit different than Sam Rayburn.
  5. I use 15lb Daiwa J-Braid to a 7 or 8lb Sunline fluoro leader. I join them together with an Alberto knot, but I'd highly recommend the FG knot. I'm just too stubborn to switch knots. This setup works perfect and has more sensitivity than a mono leader or mono/ fluoro mainline. I haven't broken a fish off yet and with the braid you don't have to worry about line twist a whole bunch. Definitely get rid of that swivel though. It's unnecessary. Learn a good joining knot and you will be golden.
  6. Not really. Spool shaft and the inside of the pinion gear are most important. That's about it.Make sure you flush your bearings to get the most out of them.
  7. X2. You said you do a semi-super tune, then you said you wanted to do more, then you said you wanted to stick to a semi-super tune.
  8. Had to read your post like 5 times to understand all of that... The Chronarch Ci4+ is an awesome reel from the feedback I hear. I can't tell you from personal experience (I use Curado's and Citica's), but I can tell you that any Shimano reel $130 or more is going to be a great asset for you.
  9. Any of the smoke holos for clear water. Green pumpkin or mg special for goby lakes. River rat is an awesome color too (not sure if it's available to the public yet, you'll have to check).
  10. Shimano grease is the best IMO.
  11. I love my Cabela's Guidewear suit. I highly recommend it.
  12. I grabbed 4 Xcalibur craw squarebills for $2ish a piece last week. Pretty terrible selection for bass at the one near me. For some reason they still have Megabass though.
  13. Powell Diesel, but honestly you should've grabbed an Inferno when they were $70 on TW.
  14. You spent way more than you had to.
  15. The Angler's Choice Killshot is a good bait. It's made in Ontario and designed for smallmouth dropshotting.
  16. I have had two incidents so far as a co angler that my rods were damaged. The first time, my boater stepped on and broke off the butt cap of one of my rods when I was rigging up in the morning. The rod still works fine, but the electrical tape around the end looks a little ugly. The second time, I was in a partner tournament with a guy who owns an old 17' Tracker. There was no place for my rods so I layed them in the middle of the gunnel on my side. He tripped walking up on the deck, stepped on one of my setups, and snapped a carbon fiber handle on one of my reels (that one hurt, but I had an extra). Moral of the story, I had the problems when my rods were not on my side of the boat and I transport my rods in an SUV, so that's not a problem. Keep your rods on your side of the boat and use rod jackets and reel covers during transport and you'll be fine. I carry some expensive combos like others have mentioned, and I am extra careful with those ones.
  17. Maybe we need to start calling the old Bantam reels "aggressive chickens." Has a ring to it.
  18. Apparently it's like a 100 size Aldebaran. Interesting for sure.
  19. I think Shimano will take 2016 for sure. We'll see in 2017. Right now, Daiwa is still riding the hype of T Wing and we never really see a ton of innovation from Doyo brands. But that's just my opinion, only time will tell.
  20. He'll get you eventually. Give it some time.
  21. Yep...they're bringing the name back.
