  1. Just now getting into JDM reels and it's crazy how you can get some great Japanese reels for the price of decent reels made in China here in the U.S..
  2. Sounds cool. I'll probably get an Alphas SV eventually, but I think having a Megabass reel would be awesome.
  3. I think I'm getting the Viola, but I'm actually having a tough time making a final decision. I'll be using lures around 1/2oz on this setup so the FX68 should do great.
  4. So you like the Megabass more overall, but the Alphas for palming and lighter baits? Then I should definitely get the Megabass because I'm probably using it for heavier lures and I have large hands.
  5. 7'2"-7'6" MH power, Moderate action
  6. Thanks, Bob! I'm hoping to get it out a few times this winter (if it's in stock) before tournament season starts up again.
  7. I think I've decided on the Megabass reel. It's going to be my "Christmas gift" so i can't see myself getting too much more JDM stuff soon. I usually can't afford that kind of stuff because I'm in high school. Eventually I'd love to get a handful of JDM reels though.
  8. The EBay seller must be wrong then. If assume the FX68 Viola and FX68 have the same internals...
  9. uh oh... I was going to order from the Omotenashi guy too...
  10. The Alphas is lighter than the FX68? The specifications I found say the Alphas is 175g and the FX68 is 163g.
  11. Thanks for the input. I was thinking the Megabass is the way to go too.
  12. I should probably be asking this on the TT Forums instead, but does anyone on here have experience with either of these reels? I can get them for around the same price and I'm not sure which one to pull the trigger on. Thanks.
  13. I have had a new Fuego baitcaster for just under a month. Solid reel for the price, actually has a lot less issues than my Citica I has. I'd recommend it so far.
  14. A fast, especially extra fast, action will allow the tip to bend easier and not give a lot of strain on the fish as he eats the bait. You can see the bite better with an extra fast tip too. Any medium light-medium power rod will work just fine, just try to stick to one with a faster tip. As for reels, 2500 is a standard size for dropshots, shakeyheads, etc. but I've honestly seen people use 1000 size reels all the way to 4000 size reels, so I wouldn't worry about it too much.
  15. Perfect setup. Nice pick. That slightly heavier action will be perfect, at least for the stuff in my area.
  16. Caught my PB and the majority of my bass this year on a spinning rod. Sometimes you just gotta do it. Maybe you'll start to like it even

I was going to say this as well. Huk makes ventilated ones too.
  18. I'll be buying a couple of the *** Gen 2's and two Daiwa/ Shimano spinning reels. Plus I have to restock on baits, lures, and terminal tackle after a hard year on my gear.
  19. While I like you analogy, I don't think any line is different from one reel to another. All reels have bearings, spools, and the same basic concept. What you think is your line may actually be the reels that feel better to you.
  20. Humbled. Sorry about that. Glad to hear you beat it.
