  1. I'm going to have to disagree here. On a part that takes a lot of torque like your main drive gear, you need a heavier grease. A light oil will wear them down faster and makes the reel feel less smooth compared to a grease such as Reel Butter.
  2. PM me. I don't want everyone buying them because I have to save up to get an order in.
  3. I would get the heavy rod. The Veritas seems to be quite a bit stiffer.
  4. And they do offer more than Shimano for the price...
  5. You're taking what I said out of context. Obviously some bearings are better than others. I just don't feel the bearings are THAT much better in a Citica than an LFS...
  6. Not exactly sure what your logic is on comparing a $240 reel to a $420 reel, but okay. I have a Team Lite also. No complaints.
  7. Have you even tried a Lew's reel? You act like you haven't. Their is absolutely nothing wrong with their bearings. So, in that case, 10bb is better than 5bb. Plus, Shimano doesn't put their best bearings in Citicas. And to answer your question, no, I wouldn't buy a $650 Lew's reel, but I sure as hell wouldn't buy a $650 Shimano reel either. $650 for a reel is outrageous and unnecessary.
  8. I didn't realize that paying less for more was considered "ignorance." To be totally honest with you, I couldn't care less what factory they're being made in. Lew's reels are workhorses and the best bang for your buck. They support the troops and take veterans on fishing trips. What does Shimano do? Keep overpricing their reels and making everyone think they're some sort of holy grail. You can't even argue the point that an $80-$100 Shimano reel can even compare to a $80-$100 Lew's reel.
  9. Ardent Reel Kleen is for gunk and residue. It will not simply make the fine rocks and sand dissolve. You need a bearing flush as Josh said.
  10. "Cookie cutter reel?" A Shimano reel could have all the problems in the world and you people would just keep drinking the Kool-Aid...
  11. Yes, I know it is still May. All I'm saying is they could have got way more hype over this if they had the release set up with Tackle Warehouse and had a certain date set. Not many people know where to get them right now and it isn't on any large retailers.
  12. I think the right move for Shimano was to release it at a $100 price point. Lew's is out there releasing solid 10 ball bearing reels for $100, but Shimano with 6 ball bearings and $150? Doesn't really make sense to me. I guess it doesn't matter because Shimano freaks will buy it whether it makes sense or not.
  13. When is this line going to be released? They said in May and it's May 29th... You'd think a more prestigious company like Dobyns would be on top of this stuff. Maybe come out with a release date and a pre-order system?
  14. Been looking to buy a new Lew's reel for a spinnerbait setup. I can get a BB1 or Tournament MB right now for around $100. I really like the buttery smooth feel, and the BB1 has that, but I know the MB is an amazing reel. Which one should I get and why? Thank you.
  15. Angler's Choice 4" Killshot in Baby Bass color.
  16. Oh lol. Didn't realize it was a nickname for Ebay.
  17. I hear of people getting stuff from "fleabay" all the time. What is it?
  18. May I ask why magnetic systems are better than centrifugal for skipping? I'd actually really like to know because I'll have to buy a reel for this eventually.
  19. Can't go wrong with a 7' MH/F rod. Fits just about every swimjig application pretty well.
  20. I would be a bit weary of 2-4lb test on a medium rod. A stiffer rod puts more tension on your line. I'm thinking a medium-light rod would have fit your applications a bit better.
  21. Abu Garcia Ike Delay Series Jerkbait rod (the 6'4" one)
  22. That technique may or may not work depending on the bait you're using, plus me being impatient, I'm probably not going to totally re-rig with a bass right in front of me.
  23. Check out the Pinnacle Optimus LTE, an underrated reel that you don't hear much about. It has a perfect flipping switch, comes in either a 7.1:1 or 7.3:1 (don't remember) and is beautiful looking. Also I believe the Lew's Super Duty is worth looking at.
  24. I agree. Got a pair as a gift for Christmas and I'm impressed with them.
