  1. Wow, this is a great tip! I've always wanted to give blade baits a good shot when the weather starts to cool or when it starts a very slow warming trend in the early spring, but being a shallow water bank fisherman for the most part I was worried with hangups. I will definitely be trying this now, so I can add another bait to the arsenal without inducing a bunch of stress or frustration.
  2. Welcome to the site. Plenty of Midwestern members here! I've tried to get a MidWest subforum added to the Regional Forum but they haven't yet. Might want to check out the Eastern Sub-Forum for local info!
  3. Cool, I thought that was an Ethos. Sounds about similar to what I would use. Thanks!
  4. What's your spinning set up for jerkbaits?
  5. Anyone have experience with these sunglasses? I could get a pair of the Moss Green lenses for 30 bucks. Looks like they have a lifetime warranty. Thanks, Hoosier
  6. Interesting. I've never payed special attention to blade colors, looks like i will have to do that a little more.
  7. I'd love the chance to fish with Mike D, but I feel like that is the day I would go out and get skunked!
  8. Not to hijack the thread but, has anybody on here built a worm box, where they grow worms in compost? I think it's a neat idea.
  9. Tried it once. I am building a vegetable garden and flower bed this spring, so hopefully that will make for more successful worming efforts.
  10. Same here! Did catch a couple the day after Christmas on a Lucky Strike STX Jerkbait
  11. That's pretty far north! How's the weather up there?
  12. Cleveland sued for the rights to the Brown's name.
  13. A friend of mine is from Warsaw. He lives in the central part of the state as well. He did say there is some good fishing in Warsaw if I remember correctly.
  14. Kinda like Jacksonville. Real surprised they didn't move. Jacksonville just can't support a football team, as sad as it is to say, because most of my family is from Jax.
  15. I don't own a boat, is take this with a grain of salt, but I find if something works, and I'm comfortable with it and its still in decent shape, stick with it. I prefer to stay on the trailing edge of things because it is cheaper and at some point the law of diminishing returns starts to kick in. I'd stuck with that old girl, take good care of her and keep her in the best shape you can. I don't know what your estimated retail value is, but with a boat that old I can't imagine it would be worthwhile to sell that to fund a down payment on a loan for a depreciating investment. Just ride that old girl until she dies, and then find a nice lightly used boat that is loaded up for a price you can afford when she does finally give up. Just my 2 cents. Once again, not a boat owner, so I'm probably a little misguided.
  16. Keep It Simple Stupid for sure. Learned to fish bouncing Beetle Spins off of sunken refrigerators in strip pits. Talk about fun!
  17. Just curious, why not?
  18. Loving these low gas prices. Helping me spend more money on feeshing!
  19. Keepin It Reel Fishing and a certain channel run by Matt Allen and Tim Little.
  20. 4,200 minimum. That's my maintenance calories. When I'm trying to gain weight it's closer to 5,000.
  21. Well I would usually only use a fast action rod for treble hooked topwaters so I could work the bait effectively with the rod. The powers would effect whether or not I would throw a spinner or buzzbait on it though. I typically throw them on a medium heavy moderate fast rod so I have enough power to drive home a single hook. Honestly it all comes doe to personal preference. Take recommendations from others, but not as the end all be all. Start with their advice, and tweak it from there to get what you find works best for you.
  22. Competitive Swimming. During Breaks (like the last two weeks, I workout 6 days a week for 5 and a half hours a day). 3/4 of it in the pool, the other 1/4 in the weight room
