Tube Jigs
So... who uses these tube jigs? i have recently purchased some and have pre rigged them as jigs or carolina rigged stuffed with fish pills so they float. i am using eagle claw weedless hooks with that rig, but do you think it'd be better to tex rig the hook with a worm hook? i don't know. any help is appreciated.

ARRRGGHHH Carolina Rig
also, when you rig the bait, bring the point of the hook out of the lure then skin hook it. this way, when the fish bites, it exposes the hook. it also probably wouldn't hurt to let her have it for a few more seconds.

soft bait rod
thanks for all your help! i ended up getting a 7' ugly stik lite. took her night fishing last night and SOMETHING was hitting everything i could throw really hard but i couldn't set the hook - even with a popper! i think i was too excited, or my tube was incorrectly rig. but i did end up catching a big piece of rebar, which the rod handled just fine.

soft bait rod
ok, so, i've become VERY fond of my cabela's pistol grip pole with my abu garcia baitcaster, but i do love to fish soft plastics, primarily after i've hit a spot with spinnerbaits or crankbaits. my current soft plastic rod is too light. does anyone have any suggestions for a soft plastic spinning rod that will have 6 pound test (yeah, i'm a light angler) on it? my current is an okuma light action. i would like medium action. or ml. i don't know. help!

Soft Bait Help
try this: carolina rig a 3.5 inch rattlesnake tube. for the hook, use a hook that has a metal weed guard. rig it so that both the hook and weed guard are exposed, but the eye of the hook stays inside the bait. after you've done that, go get some "fish pills." these are little spherical styrofoam thingies that are primarily used for steelhead. they are unscented. place them in the tube from the back. this will cause the bait to float off the bottom so you can fish JUST off the bottom. this would also work for topwater fishing. tubes are one of the most versatile baits. you can also try to soak some cotton from a cotton ball in some fish attractant and put that in the tube. this'll release the scent slowly over time. enjoy! oh, and senkos are magic too. fish them WEIGHTLESS. my fav is purple w/ green flakes.

soft plastic storage?
i put mine in those little plastic boxes to save space. i haven't had any problems with that but even if they did, it's not like you couldn't just add some berkley bass attractant to it. and besides, everything i use is salted, and this won't have anything to do with salt as salt doesn't dry out.

Fishing Golf Courses...
welcome to the forums for finicky fish, senkos are always a dynamite choice. but i would strongly suggest a crawdad colored crankbait. or, depending on the depth of the water, a standard orange flake brad's wiggler. i've caught some great fish on those. or try to carolina rig some minnows or crawdads or even lizards and work them REAL slow over the nest. hope this helps.

Lipless crankbait presentation
hello all! i am pretty new to using lipless crankbaits, but last night i was using a rat l trap right over a weed beds that some shads were feeding in. caught a little smallie. my presentation was a steady reel with a drop of the rod tip so that the lure flutters down. i primarily fish for largemouths in the coastal lakes we have here in oregon. now, there is a lot of wooded/weedy cover in these lakes. i've used the good sink and rip and pause thing, but that's never worked. now, what do you guys use when fishing these baits? because i REALLY like how the lure acts when i did the action that i caught that smallie on, but i want to know if that'll work for largemouths too, or if there's something else that'll work better.

salmon reels?
there is an Abu Garcia baitcasting reel for sale at a local sporting goods store. it says that its a great salmon reel, you know, its not a low profile reel, but its a casting reel. would it work well for bass fishing?

Yamamoto Hula Grubs and Kreatures
how do you guys fish them? i tried a hula grub this weekend in some sand flats, rigged with a jig head and a smaller bas (about a pound) almost swallowed the thing then broke the top of the water and i used a texas rig and all that bit was a little perch... but he wasnt big enough to swallow the whole thing. i just went and bought some kreatures, so some help would be greatly appreciated!

Columbia River Troubles..Please Help!
i didnt know that the columbia had bass in it!!!! i have never river fished for a bass. i fish the lakes around Florence, OR: Tahkenitch, Mercer, Munsel, Siltcoos (which i just found out this weekend has been pretty much fished out). i read in a book somewhere that oxbows are a good place to catch river bass. ya might wanna try that.... or take a trip down to Florence. it would be worth your time! i live in albany, so its like a 2 hour drive from here to there, but this will be the 3rd weekend in a row ive gone. my dad caught a 9 pounder out of Mercer last summer, and i had one on so big that it snapped my pole AND hung me up!

Rapala Minnow Rap help needed (no longer)
holy crap! do i ever have some advice for you! that is the first lure that i ever used for bass fishing and i used it for years afterwards. usually, you want to use them around rocks and wooded cover. bounce the lip off of the cover. try to avoid weed beds, but if you happen to cast into one, play it off. if you feel the weight of the weed, stop reeling. the lure will float to the top, and usually a bass will come out of the cover and attack. but i usually keep a minnow much like that on one pole, and a senko on the other, becasue i fish deep holes and wooded cover. if you have anymore questions, please pm me!

new to senko fishing...
thanks! thats what i thought! my dad was the one who, once he caught his first fish on a senko, was the "senko expert" who said to let it fall on a slack line...

new to senko fishing...
so, i just experimented with senkos this weekend and i am very impressed. i was using the purple with emerald flakes in clear water and brackish water. i just went to the store and picked up some watermelon/ black and red flakes. all 5". my question is: when the bait hits the water, should it fall on slack line or taunt line? my girlfriend caught the first fish on the senko (of course when I was launching the boat... women, lol) and i told her to let it fall slack, and watch the line for twitches. it twitched on the way down, hit the bottom, and she started reeling very slowly, then BAM! a 3 pounder picked it up and started running! anyways, any tips woudl help. im going back this weekend to the same lakes.

The Booyah! Boogee Bait
I recently bought the booyah! boogee bait (ya know, the one with the wacky blade, with all the flashiness of a spinnerbait but with the "big fish attractant" of a jig) and i was wondering how i should fish it? slow like a jig, or medium speed like a spinnerbait?

Baitcasting reels

(casting mainly, i have heard that they "bird's nest" really bad.)

new idea for drop shotting
ok, i really SUCK at tying knots. i tried the palomar, and i couldnt do it. so, i have an idea and was wondering if it would work. i have some bobber stoppers from steelhead fishing. would those work to put under the hook instead of tying it on?

customizing spinnerbaits
sorry... ONE last question. i am using a 1/4 oz. white and chartruese spinnerbait with a single colorado blade with the red Z design on it. i have a red split tail that is pretty small. should it go on the trailer hook or the main hook, or should i use a bigger trailer? or what? im confuzzled. thanks again, Hinkle

customizing spinnerbaits
alright, thanks! i REALLY appreciate all of your help. im going fishing for 8 days starting on friday, and i've just painted the spinnerbait blades. one is a red line down the middle of each side of the blade, and the other is a Z kind of design on each side of the blade. ill probably paint some more blades if they work while camping. thanks again. i know a little shop in the place i go to that should sell trailer hooks.
