Sv technology really helps beginners. It's a great way to reduce fustration. Start with your braking high and back off slowly. Your distance will suck but way better than spending the first few days picking out birdsnests.

I use a sol with a deep zonda spool. It's great for square bill cranks and medium to small topwaters. The depth allows for a little larger line and still let you bomb it out if you need. I run 14 lb xl on mine so the lune floats.

Ten bucks from tw makes value in the first lure saved. Does turn line orange though.

Suffix seige is decent along with pine cx. Depending on spinning or casting will determine what you want. I use 6lb yhb on spinning, but braid to leader is first choice. 15 or 20 lb suffix 832 to leader is how I roll.

Don't know what you have at home already. Can be done with a pair of vise grips aND a regular spool of thread. I did get a cheap kit, but I was tying jigs.

They are very light wire and gethe bent easy. Also there is a huge market for used mb baits, and a lot of the hooks need replacing.

Round two. Testing showed that the large eye let the hook turn and still trap the prop. I could reduce the issue by starting the retrieve at a crawl, but this only limited hangup's to about 25%. Inserted a short section of shrink tube. Should prevent hangups but I have no idea how it will effect hookups. More testing.

Leave the head on and then the rules can be verified with no issue.

Are you using multi species baits to improve your chances of catching anything that swims. This may help bolster your confidence and make it fun. A #1 or #2 meps spinner catches a ton of different species. Small jerkbaits, and small topwaters. This will show you what fish are in the body of water and get things moving. A small 2.8 Keith on a darter head is a personal favorite. Bass crappie and large gills smash that thing.

Mag bass is a type of taper designed by g loomis. His rods were labeled MBR that used this taper. Made for a lot of popular jig rods.

That depends on a lot of factors the primary being do they produce a rod you like and meets your needs. The second is are the components even available. I wish I could change how the megabass white python is built but you cannot get that blank, or even anything close.

My current setup has 15 lb 832 on it and the leader is 6lb yhb or 6lb sniper depending on water clarity. The Alberto is the knot of choice and I tie on 5 foot leaders and change it out around 2 feet remaining. I plan on trying some of the new suffix nanobraid in 10 to see how it feels.

St Croix xfast is really fast. My 610mxf is the fastest rod I own. It's not great for trebles but is my favorite rod for single hooks. The hud grass minnow is the bait I use the most on the xfast rod and it feels like it was made for small single hook swimbaits. For top water I use a 66mf avid with 14 lb xl. That system just seems so right for poppers, 90 ploppers, and the duo pencil (the smaller one). I change the spool to yhb 6 or 10lb for jerkbaits depending on size. The smaller 1/4 ounce stuff gets 6 and the 1/2 gets 10.

They add secondary action. Depending on your position that might be important or not. Some lures are designed with them in mind. The xrap comes to mind. Making your own is cheap, easy and you get to use the hook you already have or like. Hook sewing thread, and a little nail polish, done.

I have had these new in the package for a while trying to find the right chance to use them. Got a new worker popper 90 and found the right chance to use it. Caught a bunch of fish but the front treble came appart. So the rear kept hanging up, and I move that forward and put the single out back in hopes it will not hang up on the prop. I used the 1/0 and will have to see if the balance is still good.

Pm dvt or call him. Depending on the rod it my be cheaper overall just to replace.

Jig is so diverse. I never touch the weed guard on any type. Swim jigs get a trim to about 1/4 below the hook bend same as chatterbaits. Bottom contact jigs only get a little trim in the winter to make a smaller presentation. This also comes into play with smaller trailers, like chunks.

Punching seems to be big in Florida. That 76h with 65 braid and 1.5 tungsten 4/0 flipping hook and a creature of your choice.

It's called the search for "the one". Will a rod work, sure. Is it perfect for how and where you fish, that's what the search is all about.

If your looking for peace and quiet the midnight to 8 time frame would bexpect my first choice for a busy lake. For no power boat lakes I go an hour before sunset and fish till around midnight.

Line type some days makes a huge difference and others none at all. I always use clear, it's a mental thing for me. Braid users will swear it does not matter. The lure action and sink rate are huge in my book. If your working a worm 10 or less will give the best action. Heavier cover may demand you go heavier line. One thing to consider is go lite for bites and then worry about completing the deal. If you hook 3 and break off 3 times you may need to go up one size.

A local club is a great place to start. It will let you know if you have the taste for it before you get into the big buy in. Some are as cheap as 20 bucks and as high as 100 here where I am. This is my second year tournament fishing and to be honest when my fishing partner has had enough or moves I'm done. I fish to relax and have fun and a tournament does not add to that experience for me. Best of luck.
