Who Has Gone Night Fishing In Spring?
This is almost exactly what I do. It's comfortable in a light jacket and if I fall in I'm not going to die at this point. Poppers and jigs are first choice along with a wacky worm.

20lb braid for topwater
Lightest I have gone is 15, and it's plenty strong on a mlxf spinning rod but never on a bait caster. The new suffix nanobraid goes down really light but think that's for pan fish.

20lb braid for topwater
Keep reading and you will see people asking about using 20 lb flouro for frogs. Just not a good plan. Using mono in the same place in a leader is a's good or better unless your dealing with teeth.

20lb braid for topwater
I do use braid and mono for topwaters. For tiny poppers I use a spinning rod with 6lb mono. Little larger poppers aND the smallest wopper popper I use 14 lb xl or 30 braid on a bait caster. I have used 20 but sent a spook into orbit so now 20 is for spinning rods. Can't get my mind around around people who try and use fluorocarbon on topwater. It sinks and is the worst possible choice.

Changes In Equipment Just For The People Who Must Have The Latest ?
Latest and greatest is a scam. I love high end gear but just because there is a newer model does not make it better. My mid 2000 sol, fuego''s are just two examples. I look for the older models now half their original msrp. The original megabass slant bridge white python is considered by most the best version they ever made. Can't find one so I got the c-40 model which I still think is fantastic. I enjoy nice gear but I feEl the latest is not always the greatest and that idea is marketing working against your common sense.

Fishing during thunderstorms
I just don't want to broadcast to everyone where I am and let them pattern me. Personal security and all.

Fishing during thunderstorms
Not one to leave my location on is the only downside I see.

Does anyone ever “double set” the hook
That is a saltwater thing. Depending on the style and size of hook it could be OK or terrible. I like owner st-41 hooks on my hard baits and to be honest I don't even set any more I just start reeling. On a punching heavy wire hook you may want to if you did not get a solid shot on the first set.

Fishing during thunderstorms
Thinking I should get that. Does it use location and give a range warning.

The river 2 sea popper the bubble walker, the pop max and I have a cheap bps that kills it. Minus the mb all can be had for 20. The mb is 20.

Fishing during thunderstorms
Big set of thunder storms here in Memphis. Fished until I saw lighting headed my way then bailed. If you know it's going to be where your at in a half hour or less it's time to bail.

To All My Memphis Pond Hoppers!
Went night fishing at the churchouse pond on Yale and kurby witten. Caught 5 and lost another on a small popper. That pond has a bunch of small fish but top water in the dark gets the blood pumping.

Shimano Calcutta Reel
I am going to assume that this reel has not seen regular service. Bite the bullet and sendo it in for a good cleaning and once over. You may find that it performs at a much higher level and was worth the effort.

Anyone fished a M/F Avid and a MH/F Dobyns?
Of those you list the champion 734 would be first choice.

Best soft plastic worm and way to rig it to learn to fish them?
Wacky rigged stick worm gets hammered and is easy to learn.

Good enough line for casting reel?
If its going to be a dedicated bottom contact rod then using a fluorocarbon may be worth it. Because of the OP's statement about good enough, sniper and pline 100% are the two lines i like that are not supper expensive. They handle almost identical for me so the best deal you can find for the win is what i would buy. Note in some cases the 250 yard spool that pline provides could be a better value as it may fill two or more reels where most others are only 200 yards.

Mend it vs gorilla glue
Huddlestone made a glue that was simular to Mendit you may be able to find

Anyone fished a M/F Avid and a MH/F Dobyns?
It's not even close between ratings. It to me is like a half power difference between 703, mf, 704 mhf. I wish I had ccs data to support my statement and a few builders may. It's a speed and power difference I feel. My dobyns is a dx743 and I fished a friend's 744. The 743 works best in tube's and things with exposed hooks. Even with braid I don't prefer it for Texas rigs. On the other hand it makes for a very expensive crank bait rod that works great.

Anyone fished a M/F Avid and a MH/F Dobyns?
In casting i have used a 4 power dobyns and a mf and mhf in St croix. The actions are faster in St croix, and I like them better when a line other than braid is used. Only used an avid x in spinning but the running guides are a lot smaller and if you fish a lot of cold weather or braid to leader I would go regular and not x.
