  1. The worst line for jerkbait fishing.
  2. I got the 7.9 to pitch and punch because i already have a ton of 6.3 reels. One speed is like having one tool in your box. This is a heavy duty reels so for those techniques a faster reel is better.
  3. I also love my dobyns 764 for all but the largest cranks. For square bills 1.5 I still use my avid 66mf.
  4. The rock chunk rc stx fit that bill the best. I have others but I would not want to loose my lucky craft at double the cost.
  5. The longer rod will change the timing of the release a little and you can help by increasing weight a little. Some lures like a spoon are very good casters. It will take a little time to learn the character of the new rod but not all is lost.
  6. Lamiglas is a made in america rod company and has some good stuff. I liked there original excel series rods in orange. I did a quick search to see what came up and this should be right in your ball park. http://www.ebay.com/itm/NEW-Lamiglas-Certified-Pro-Series-Fast-Action-7-2-Senko-Bass-Casting-Rod-XC724-/391545620103?hash=item5b29f00687:g:QhgAAOSwFV9Xw7X5 I have not fished that rod and i would do way more looking that the 2 min i did. They used to have a bass xmg series that people raved about and i really wanted to try but never found anyone that had one.
  7. I dont know that would be critical as you may know where you are and the direction you need to cast to keep hooking up. If its working and you want to keep doing it, the function would be invaluable. Now the other side of the coin is i cannot imagine anyone going for one of the higher end TM and not having a high end sonar with map as well..
  8. Every test I have ever seen has yhb in the lowest stretch section, and my experience indicates the same. Compared to flouroclear there is no comparison...
  9. I would love to see data that supports YHB is any more stretchy than CXX.
  10. Whell what had happened was I was shot down over Indonesia and all I had was cord from my parachute and a rusty spoke from a bicycle that was abandoned near the pond I came down next to. Being that I was hungry and had no camera the giant I caught saved my life and I will never forget!!!
  11. You live up north and as such will be fishing colder water. Sniper wins out over shooter in this area. Toray super hard upgrade is a great line as is tatsu. I fish a lot of p-line 100% as its a lot like sniper but a little cheaper and easier for me to find, when I am not ordering from TW. You might still be able to get tatsu on sale right now and that would be one to try...
  12. Duo shadraps. I destroy trout while trawling these early season from my yak.
  13. I change my answer the 103 is on sale and now you will have the cash to get a champion with that same budget!!!! Or a XX perfect pitch
  14. I used and still have it in 8 lb and it is very thin and handles great. It stretches more than any other line i have ever had. Berkely xl is much better and handles just as well. I wont say i hate it but not a big fan. you can get 600 yards of YBB cheaper and its way better line. Make sure to use the line diameter for YHB and not the rated test...
  15. Why not have the kids paint the lures and then the next day dip them in urethane and hang them to dry in the back of the class for a few days??? You could do one student at a time and then hang and on to the next one. The paint would be dry and the control would be good.
  16. Avids are sweet rods.
  17. Stop it your going to make me miss it and I can't afford more than 3 addictions at once.
  18. Tw has the 103 on sale for 202 and I picked up a 7.9. Sure it will not last!!!
  19. U40 sure brought out some character in some of my rod handles. The dobyns DX handles look the best, of those i have done. St croix does not change very much and i was hoping they would. Still great rods though.
  20. looked briefly at the price of the two your going after and would say to check out the classic nucanoe. Its what i roll in and its reconfigurable for a lot of situations including two or three passengers. If you do plan on taking another i would go with a 12. I stand and frog fish in mine and its oooooo so stable. They travel around and have shows where you can try all the different models. I would also recommend you test drive before paying.
  21. I have a bps popper that seems to make the just right sound. The hooks i have on it cost more than the bait but that does not bother me one bit. In fact they got upgraded because the bass mangled the original ones and it just keeps catching. ST 41s on a two dollar bait might be just the ticket though as it may help it sit lower in the water or be the just right touch. I have no idea but that lure is gold and i go in after it when lost to a bush monster.
  22. You can paint a blank using one of the plastic flexable paints from home depot in the rattle can. I would not recommend doing it for the following reasons. It will add weight to the blank reducing sensitivity, it may react with the thread wrap epoxy, and that much masking just will not be any fun...
