How heavy should I go
your location is not filled in so your answers will be a guess to the level of cover you have. Up north in CT 50 LB was great and worked without a problem. Some people in south Florida are using 80. I have never broke 50lb so going heavier than that would not really help but you have to know your cover and what you feel comfortable with.

Huntsville, AL, Starting over fishing at nearly 40
Welcome. This time of year topwater is getting active and its a real blast to catch fish on poppers. I seem to do the best on a cheap BPS popper that i paid 2 bucks for and have more invested in the ST-41's slung below. Frogs are a great time to....

Copolymer Lines.... For What?
While some of this is true shop line by diameter not rated strength. The industry likes to "pull the wool over our eyes" and a direct comparison of lines by dia is the only real way to be fair. I like YHB because of its knot strength compared to flouro and low stretch.

Copolymer Lines.... For What?
Not to bash a product but it is my least favorite line of all of them. P-line makes some great stuff just not this line... I like there flouro a lot and am running there 15 lb 100% on my jig rod. If you want a good co-poly use CXX or YHB. I have YHB on a lot of my rods but they both work well.

Dual Purpose Swimbait Rod?
Your rod is not suited to run the smaller paddle tails. If your running one of Matt allens 3/4 oz jigs with the robo shiners then maybe. The weight of a California swim-jig is over 1.5oz. Rods that are fast and heavy enough to set the hook in a 8 inch swimbait on the jig hook are not good for trebbles. I know dobyns so i will use them as an example. The 806 would work well on the 10xd because its tuned for trebbles and baits like the s-waiver. The 807 is a jig hook rod and would not be as good.

Plastics Questions. Flake? Color? Size? Tactics?
I keep it basic and use only a few different colors/sparkle. I like watermelon red in the evenings, and sparkle during the bright sun. I use blue/purple to mimic baitfish and craw colors. I use plain colors during overcast weather, green pumpkin black. The six inch baits work when the bait is larger and that can and does change with season and conditions. I offer the smaller bait in the spring and larger during the summer.

Jig skipping rod characteristics
i would recommend a 6-10 to 7' medium fast or medium moderate fast with a good tip. I like to skip 1/4 or 3/8ths arkey jigs with a large trailer like a beaver. The larger the plastic with the least appendages works best for me.

Switching lines...again
I try new stuff every once in a while but try not to go all out at once like you did. I started of on cheap mono from walmart as i would expect most do and finally gravitated to braid next. Then was flouro, and then co-poly. Now a days i dont really try new stuff as much as try and improve a certain way i am fishing. As the example you can see my current thread on braid. Its not that i dislike the braid i am using, i was just trying to find a perfect braid for fishing a frog where it cut instead of wrapping around pads and other junk. I will buy small spools and see if i can get that dialed in. Try small changes as you will not find a perfect line for everything.

Mountain bikers. Dont try this at home.
I have had some moderate fun re-living my childhood with my son. I picked up an old haro group 1 rsi and him a haro junior and we ride around the neighborhood. Had a great idea to try out nesbit park near my house and i otb'ed twice on the first trip and realized that i am no where near 17 or even 20 any more. I had considered picking up a mtb but i will stick to blowing my money on fishing and nights out with the wife!!!! I also enjoy watching the red bull rampage but i am wise enough to know that i would not survive that...

Good soft body swimbaits
You are where i was last year. I feel the bass assassin shad bait is a great replacement. I just wrote my review on TW and it posted today. If the easy shiner is your favorite then that is the bait i would recommend. I am trying out the other "fat" style baits and have not had enough bites on any of those i am trying to make a positive or negative comment. So far i am testing the bass pro version and if those don't work out i will move on to the next type. The larger 4.8 is fine in the keitech if you run the owner weighted beast hook. I have over 4 fish on the larger baits, for some reason the bluegill leave the tails alone, and the hook does not tear them up as bad.

Veg cutting braid
How does it compare to pp in size and handling
-
Veg cutting braid
I have used suffix performance braid and did not realize it was a four carrier. Wonder if I can find that in 50. Does it cut as well as the 4 carrier PP or not so much?

Veg cutting braid
So spider wire is first choice because its a four carrier. I know that's not true

Veg cutting braid
I have always used an 8 carrier braid, my first spool ever being PP super slick 8. I have used tons of great braid but I am looking to pick up a spool of braid that cuts threw the veg and still has good strength. I hate how the 8 carrier does not cut very well on long casts with a frog or the amount of junk on the line while fishing the slop. Is the original power pro the best to go with or are the sun line braids also good to cut threw the junk.

BC with braid?
20 lb braid is a nightmare to undo, and i would never recommend it for a beginner. with the larger braid if you take your time you can get it out even if you have to take out the spool. The knots are larger and much easier to deal with. You may want to bring a knitting hook or scribe to help undo some of the knots. I would recommend against using a hook as some have cutting points which will damage the line and if you go to far the barb is a major ptia....

BC with braid?
Braid can be a great way to learn. I would recommend 50 or 65 as the thin stuff is much easier to backlash and a lot harder to get out. Use reasonable weights 3/8ths or more combined weight and you should have limited or no issues. Setting up the reel real tight to begin with and then loosen it up as you go. The spool tension set to controlled fall on the bait and the breaking at or near max. Slowly dial back the breaks until your good at about 50 percent with no backlashes and then slowly loosen the spool tension until your using it to eliminate spool slop. This process may take you months or years.

My first attempt at stocking up on tackle. Help!
Been there done that. Value is much higher grabbing a single bag of plastics to try and then get one more when you run out. Volume is just more to store and carry around. This may be a good idea if you want to up your fitness and go broke.

Braid to leader - be honest
I also use the Alberto with 6up and 5 down. I run a rod length leader where the knot is just below my tip top when I tie on the hook and it's on the hanger. It is as long as I can get without creating a kink while storing or traveling. It gets shorter as I fish and I get one or two outings out of a leader. I check my leader often and trim as needed to keep it abrasion free.
