  1. It does have a deep culvert next to it, but I don't beleive it connects to the pond
  2. I actually had some sucsess throwing buzzbaits at some bass in a shallow pond the other day
  3. I am pretty positive that it was actually a tarpon. They aren't too uncommon in freshwater around here. Giant schools of mullet are new to me in freshwater though
  4. The other day I decided to fish a landlocked pond that I haven't been to in a while, and was suprised to see a bunch of mullet swimming around. I've seem them in saltwater connected canals, but never a landlocked pond. I also caught a bass and had a large tarpon like fish hit my buzzbait. Anyone have any experience with mullet in landlocked ponds? And yes, I am 100% POSITIVE they were mullet and not carp. Don't ask , what if they were carp.
  5. Same with me! I've caught some big bass this season, but i've gone through countless -1 pound bass to get to them
  6. Yeah, the water is so stained/muddy in most of the places I fish that I could definietly get away with straight braid

  8. It really is a beautiful place, and has a lot more bass fishing opportunities than many people realise. Glad to be a part of the forum and keeping the sport alive
  9. I frequent the same tackleshop for almost everything and have become good freinds with the guys there. They have even given me discounts before just because I'm in there constantly and they like seeing a younger person fish. But if they don't have anything, I'll head over to bassproshops. But I vastly prefer local tackleshops.
  10. That's what we call them here in Florida, Googan pretty much means bad/annoying fisherman.
  11. My favorite creek is full of runoff and looks like a ditch in the side of the road; but I guess that's what it is. I actually prefer this because nobody thinks to fish it, so a lot of the bass aren't familiar with lures and will eat anything.
  12. I fish a clear manmade creek in Florida with topwaters. it is about 6 inches deep in most places, and produces a lot of snook and tarpon as well. My PB from that creek was probably around 3-4 pounds on a doa lures 4 inch cal shad. I was actualy targeting snook at the time.
  13. True that, I might order it tonight!
  14. Why is that? I was considering a lews speed spool tournament MG, but decided on the stx instead. What would be a better choice?
  15. I am accepting this challenge, even though I'm having a hard time finding the money to spare on a pack of softbaits right now. My scale is broken, but if something looks 4+ by eyeballing it I am donating.
  16. Thanks for the suggestions guys. From the majority of people saying 40 pound braid and a leader, I think that is what I'm going with. I already have tons of florocarbon leader laying around from saltwater fishing, so I should be set on that. I am also going to get some yozuri hybrid on my current setup because it is onsale and I've seen it reccomended a lot, including in this thread.
