So Yall Want To Learn Toledo Bend?
Hey guys. This is my first report to help contribute to this great thread. It has helped me tremendously. I recently started fishing toledo bend and now that I have a boat I can fish whenever time allows. Last few weeks I've been on the south side, j&l and pirates area. Beating the banks catching mostly dinks with an occasional 3lber. A few days ago I decided to hit housen and flip some buck brush and cypress trees and get away from the hay grass. Lol. Started late around noon but didn't take long before gettin bit. I pitched a D bomb all day and my partner fished an under spin fluke rig. 11 bass caught in a few hours. Mostly keepers, a 3lber and a 6.21. She would've been heavier but had released her eggs. Flat belly and left some eggs on my boat carpet. Also got a baby gator on the D bomb. Don't ask me how. Lol

Lake Charles Louisiana Recommendations?
does that pond behind the welcome center allow kayaks?

Kayak Pfd
The nrs chinook is very comfortable in a kayak. The floatation on the back is set high to not interfere with comfort while sitting. The pad actually sits on top of the seat. Unless you have a really high back seat this will work great for around $110 from ACK. Can get it cheaper if you use the discount code

Considering Buying A New Nitro
57mph with 2 healthy guys. 36 gallons of fuel, full live wells and too much tackle. Fast enough for me. My buddy cruises at 62 in his pheonix. He Can go 70 plus but rarely does. I don't see too many people going more than 15 mph more than me.

Rods
Aetos are current though.

Haven't got to use it yet. It's light and balanced well. 7'4" hvy model. I've only used the smoke and kvd rods from quantum and have been pleased with them. This should be better, I hope.

Not sure what size fenwick your thinking about. Ffo has the hmg for $70 and aetos for $105. Also has Hmx for real cheap. Just a few models each though. There's a coupon code valid til the 20th. Additional $15 off of orders less than 100, $25 off 100-150 dollar orders, $35, $45 etc. Worth checking out.

Will do. This is a 6'6" med rod. All my fenwicks(hmg, aetos) are on the heavier side both action and feel so I wanted to get a light in hand rod. Paired up with a smoke reel. Feels great but needs to get bent!

Diawa Rod
The ardito is on my radar also! The reviews claim the rod has flexible joints to make the rod more parabolic. I've owned a few travel rods (loomis escape and shimano v rod) and the heavier action rods all seem to have stiff flat spots where the joints are. Not so much a problem (for me) with the lighter stuff. Let us know what you end up with and give it a review.

Here's a couple of new rods I just got. Of course I didn't need them but I haven't tried any of these so I figured why not. Not sure why everyone complains about the villain reel seat. Pretty comfy to me but hours of use will tell the truth. Fenwick has always been good for me and the elite tech bass is no exception in the fit and finish dept. exo is super light and will be my new frog rod. The falcon is for the 10xd's I plan on throwing this year. The tatula ml is pretty nice. Side by side comparing it to my glx 843cbr, bend, weight and balance are very similar. How it handles with bait and with fish to be determined. Hopefully soon.

Would Either Of My Setups Be Decent For Frog Fishing?
The ex fast shouldn't be too much a problem in the med/by rated rod. If the powell is sturdier, go with that. They'd both prol make for good ribbit type frog rods

Would Either Of My Setups Be Decent For Frog Fishing?
It'll get you by since your not in real nasty stuff. Once you get on a good frog bite in the area your fishing, you'll know quickly if your under gunned.

Daiwa Tatula Grooving Issues
Daiwa has excellent customer service. All my experiences in the past have been nothing but good. I recently dropped a t3 and broke off the top of the reel. I sent it off and they fixed the hood plus repainted all the scuff marks. Also on a side note: Daiwa also carries parts for discontinued models for many, many years. I can still get parts for my td-x HIA (pre saltiga) reel. That reel was discontinued over 10 years ago. Daiwa will take care of you.

Considering Buying A New Nitro
I too was looking at the z6 nitro. I ended up with a triton 179trx with 115 pro xs. Yes, a bigger boat would be nice but........I have tacoma and didn't want to put too much strain on the truck. Plus I wanted a boat I could fit in my garage and not have to buy/build a covered area to store it. I couldn't be happier with it. I have friends with the 21ft boats and 250's. They have higher running/maintenance costs and only go 10-15mph faster than I do(practical speed, not max) The speed, storage and deck space is nice but not worth double the cost to me. Do not add the upgraded electronics from the factory. Nitro/bps charges way too much. Your better off getting the base model and purchasing electronics off the 'Bay. Either install yourself or pay someone to do it. You'll come out way ahead.

Large Spools
Buy spools of line this size and never have to worry about line coiling! Lol. Jk. I remembered having an old pic of me after buying the biggest spools of line Id ever seen. thought I'd share a laugh.

G Loomis Rod
i have an old (weibe reel seat) imx rod, a 5-6 year old imx, and a couple of the new IMX rods. they all fish great. I love the looks of the older IMX rods more then the newer ones. I do like the handles and the guides on the new rods. I will continue to fish with them all for a long time. you will probably be pleased with either. JMO.

Okuma Concept C3-40X
Can't go wrong with the c3 rods. Very light and sensitive. Can be had for less than a bill on the bay. Okuma has had a bad rep in the years past but their top tier stuff is quite good.

Comfortable Sot Kayak Seats
Ack has the gone fishing seat which is very comfortable. I'm 200lbs and find this seat nice to fish out of for long hours. The extra tackle storage and rod holders are a nice plus. A lil more than you wanted to spend but if you sign up for their email, you get 15% off your first purchase. If you've already received it, use another email and get a different code. Tyd for around $119

My name is Brian and I too have an addiction like all of you! I'm also new to the forum. Here's my finally downsized bass collection of reels. No need to name the reels, everyone probably knows what each are. I will say I'm a hardcore shimano and daiwa fan but my quantums get the most love from me. Tour mg is my new favorite! Also for anyone who hasn't tried out a hammer rod, do yourself a favor and get one. Lighter and more sensitive than my glx rods. These will be replacing all my rods soon.

G.loomis Glx Rods Opinions
haven't used the 785 but i have the 843. it is a wonderful rod for wiggle warts, bomber 5/6A's and smaller fat free shads. the 855 is the best rod ive ever used for rattle traps. as far as the JWR series, they are all great. just get the one rated for your needs. you wont be disappointed.

Pfluger Summit Vs Revo S
The summit is hands down a better reel than the revo s. I have 3 of the summits. These were a special run for cabelas painted black and with large Eva knobs(according to a cabelas rep). It has recently been taken out of the lineup and can be found in the cabelas bargain cave periodically. They had them down to $49. Every once in a while they'll pop back up for a couple days then disappear. Believe it or not it is one of my best casting reels comparing them to my daiwa t3, zillion, tatulas, shimano chronarch, pfueger patriarch, exo's and mgx's. Very solid reel
